Nursing Home Communities in Lima, PA

"My mom is on the waiting list of St. Mary’s Catholic Home. It seems like it is a clean facility. It looks bright and cheery, and it looks like there is a nice variety of activities and a lot of caring staff. It has a good reputation. They have different buildings for the different levels of care. The rooms look nice. She will be sharing a room, but it looks nice. It’s a little bit more clinical, and it looks a little bit more like a hospital room than a little apartment, but that is because it is a nursing home. Every time we visited, it looks like they have activities going on, and they try to keep their residents engaged. It also has a very beautiful chapel which is nice and good grounds. "

"Fair Acres Geriatric Center is a nursing home, my dad moved there last week. We chose them because they had beds available for him. Because of Covid though, we haven't been able to go in or visit him yet. It looks nice outside, but we haven't been able to go inside because you have to make an appointment for that. The staff has been responsive and they seemed like they're caring. For activities, I think they have bingo, they have a game room, and physical therapy to go to. The outside looks very, very neat and clean. The grounds are nice. The buildings are also nice and well-maintained."

"I toured Granite Farms Estates. The residents were not interacting with me, whereas at the other facility, they came to me, but it's a beautiful place. The lobby is lovely. It's very grand. I didn't have food there, but it smelled wonderful. The apartments were also very nice. I like the other facility better but still liked Granite Farms Estates."

"I am surprised at some of these reviews. I had a bad fall, broke my hip and damaged my leg. I was in two other facilities for physical therapy, but neither of them lived up to the wonderful physical therapy I received at Monticello. I am now walking comfortably and hopefully won't be using my rollator too much longer. The staff was great, encouraging, and caring. There were daily activities planned, but many residents didn't bother to go. Let's face it, life is what you make it."

"My parents moved into a detached home in White Horse Village 3 years ago and are really happy. The facilities are well constructed, the staff are caring, knowledgeable and professional. They are very responsible in maintaining the buildings and grounds. The location is beautiful, close to parks, a bit of a hike to grocery stores but they also provide transportation. "

"Completely happy with the care my mom receives. It's a very hard job these people have. "

"The staff all seemed nice and caring, like they wanted to work there. It seemed like the workers were genuine people that genuinely wanted to help the elderly. The amentities and facilities were also nice. There is a very nice area outside, and the facilities were very clean and well taken care of. Although the facilities looked clean, they did smell pretty awful. I could not get over the smell. The rooms seemed spacious and there were large areas for social gatherings that were also nice. The people already in the home seemed like they enjoyed it there and none of them seemed unhappy. One of the manager/directors gave us a tour, and she was very nice as well. She talked about about all of the activites that were available to get the elderly out of their rooms and socializing which I thought was great. I've never been to another facility so I'm not sure how it compares, but this one certainly seemed like it was well kept, clean, and full of friendly people. "

"I visited this facility very recently. The receptionist admissions director, and an occupational therapist were wonderful and made me feel welcomed. The outside of the facility was aesthetically more attractive than the inside. The resident areas smelled of urine or some other similar odor. The rooms I remember looked old and dingy. Mostly, I didn't like that adjoining twin bed rooms shared the same bathroom which means as many as four residents would share the same bathroom. The residents seemed okay. Lastly, where the facility is located [off a fast moving roadway] makes it easy to miss. If you do miss it, you'll drive a distance to make a suitable U-turn. After the U-turn, you have to drive pass the facility to be able to return to the road it's on. Even more frustrating was getting out of the parking lot on to the road which proved to be a very cautious adventure. I would give it 2 1/2 stars. "

"My ex-mother- law was there twice. I found the place to be clean. Dining room area is spacious with a big screen tv and comfortable seating area. The staff was friendly, but service was not always prompt. Very good rehab facility. Would recommend. "

"The amenities were excellent. They offered one-bedroom and two-bedroom units, and they were clean and nice. They have carriage houses at Dunwoody Village. "

"I liked Maris Grove. I have no complaints about it. It was just too far out. I have my children here in the city and they don't want me to go that far out. It was nice. The food was most delicious. They have the amenities, except for cutting young grass, and you are independently living and it's good. The rooms were very nice. You had a choice between having everything in one big room, a one bedroom and two bedrooms. It was nice. They were very informative and very inviting. I didn't feel like I wasn't welcomed there. They did everything. Matter of fact, I still get information from them inviting me to different events. They're still recruiting. So I have no problems with them."

"Broomall showed warmth and empathy to my Grandmother at her time of need. Staff made sure she was always comfortable and worked closely with the physician to make sure her needs were met. Friendly and supportive to family at our time of need as well. The building was clean and well cared for. "

"This is a well cared for facility. The caregivers are people whom you would want to take care of your loved one(s). It is clean and inviting. The clientele are clean, well dressed and take part in activities if they are able. "
