"Our mother was a resident of this facility for 5 years. We couldn't take care of her in her home anymore. Her husband came first and then she joined him. They were very well taken care of. The room was spacious and met their needs. Unfortunately her husband passed away after a few months. The staff did so much to help us get her ready for the funeral. As the years passed, we developed a very unique relationship with all the staff, and we can't say enough good, especially with the activities department. Mom's birthday was in July, and we planned a very special birthday party for her. It was initially planned for outside, but we had an unusual heat wave and last minute plans had to be made, they accomodated us, and Mom so enjoyed her special day with a gathering of friends and family. This is just a little glimpse of what this place is capable of. Her personal care was excellent, and the nursing staff were quick to catch issues that needed to be addressed. We would not hesitate to recommend this facility to anyone looking for a good home for "Mom or Dad", as a matter of fact, we already have!"

"I was very impressed with the Highlands at Pittsford. I first stopped by the front desk first, and then they directed to me her cottage where she lives. The cottages are small houses arranged in a small loop next to the main facility. I was very impressed with the comfortable living accommodations. For meals, residents can either eat in the fine dining restaurant or they can have food brought to their apartment or cottage. We ended up having food delivered to the cottage. Around 8:00 after we had finished eating, the waitstaff came to pick up the dishes and returned them to the kitchen. It was so easy for my friend to go about her normal life. I did not get the impression that she was being taken care of. Instead, she was simply in a situation where she could easily go about her life with the support she needs as she gets older. The facilities were also impressive. Each cottage was a full house (although small, but this is not necessarily a bad thing) in and of itself. In the cottage neighborhood, there was a "Hanamen" club, where events could be held and residents could gather together for social events. In the main building, where the apartments are, residents had similar room dedicated for social events, but it was not as big. All of the support staff was very friendly and service oriented. "

"We chose Penn Yann Manor Nursing Home because it is affiliated with the rehab center that my mother-in-law was at and also the hospital. It's all on the same campus. We're happy with it. The staff is very good. She says she's happy with the food. They have activities like arts and physical therapy kind of things. She is in a semi private room but she has a room for some additional furniture other than what they provide. It looks like what you would expect in a nursing home or a hospital type of setting to be. It is conveniently located and it is affiliated with the hospital so if there are any significant health issues, it's very, very close."

"As the new norm profit over patient care. With the cost of everything thru the roof. This piss poor excuse for a medical facility finds new ways to over charge the patients. Have worked with my insurance company. Soldiers and Sailors finds new ways to make patients pay thru the nose. Unacceptable!! Filing a complaint thru the attorney general!! I wouldn't take my dog there!! "

"I toured Aaron Manor Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. It was very clean and well-managed. They had a very nice ratio between patients and staff. It wasn't overly burdened, so that was a nice thing too. They had nurses 24 hours a day at this facility. The staff seemed to be very attentive and very caring. The rooms are a good size and even the semi-private rooms were good size, much bigger than a hospital room. There were plenty of rooms. They were L-shaped. The beds weren't side by side. You walked in, one room was to the left, then as you went back towards the back of the room, the other room was facing in the opposite direction, and both areas had windows for the people to look out. It was well planned."

"Clean, attentive, caring place. I'm surprised by some of the other reviews but perhaps they changed management since then. My mom has been in rehab at Penfield Place for over a month, and from day one I was surprised and impressed by the true caring by the nurses, CNA and therapists, social worker, and other staff; the attention and quick response time; and overall care for my mom. I visited her every day, often more than once a day, and not once did I find her sitting in a wet bed (so common at many senior care places), or not appropriately dressed for the time of day, or otherwise not cared for. Mom is largely incontinent, and she was always clean and dry, as well as her bedding. The physical and occupational therapists are excellent; nurses knowledgeable and caring; and the CNAs and other staff are all excellent in their work. To reach Mom's wing, I had to walk down the LTC wings, and unfailingly, every time I walked down the halls (and I came at different times throughout each week, including late at night), there were staff taking care of the permanent residents, talking to them by name, encouraging them and helping them. I was impressed. Continually. We had a horrible experience 2+ years ago at another facility (I won't say the name, but the initials are AM), it was so bad I filed a complaint about that facility. Penfield Place is a breath of fresh air, a total 180 from that other place. Thank you, everyone at Penfield Place, for making my mom's and my experience so wonderful and reinstilling our faith that there are people out there who actually care for the elderly and want to help them live their final years with dignity."

"My parents moved into Friendly Home. It's a great facility. It's rated number one in New York State. They're very attentive. They have nurses and they have nurse practitioners on call. They have a social worker. They are in a shared room that's got a wall, but because they're together they got this shared room to themselves. They have their two recliners and a TV, and then they have two twin beds on the other side because they've set it up for a couple. They have all kinds of social events downstairs and they're both doing physical therapy. I think the food is excellent. They're phenomenal compared to other places around here."

"My mother has moved into Conesus Lake Nursing Home. She is being well cared for, kept clean, and is sleeping in her bed, which she was not doing when she was in another facility. Now she's being helped with things that she couldn't do before by herself. Her medical or physical health went down very quickly. She had some medical issues that we've been trying to help her with ever since Covid struck, and it's just been bad for her. They're very kind and very attentive. They're quick to please whatever you need, whatever you want. They take very good care of the residents. They're quick to take care of them, make them feel comfortable, and at home. We were treated very kindly by the social worker, Tracy. All the different aides and the nurses that they have there have been kind. We know that it's a very good place for my mother at this point in time. There are two patients in one room and that works for my mother. She would love to have a private room, but they only have two private rooms; those are not available at this time. She is living in a room with another person, and she gets along with the person. It's a nice room. I've seen it. We can't go there into the room, but we can go to the facility to visit my mother. We have visits that are 45 minutes long, and we make appointments. They're very careful because of COVID. They have no COVID there, and that's the way they want to keep it. They don't want to have COVID among the residents; we understand that. They have different types of activities, but my mother is really not into activities right now. She's just getting used to the place. She'd like to see her family rather than spend time with other people; she's kind of a loner. I have seen the activity room, which is very, very nice. I know they have a cat there. It is a community cat that will come and visit you (if you want it to be in the room with you). If not, the cat realizes that you don't and won't go wherever it's not wanted. Then they have a couple little budgie parakeets there; that is very sweet. I just think that it's a nice country place for people who want a slower pace of life. It's a very nice place, and they also have outings that they go on. My mother hasn't been there long enough to do that. I understand that they will have some things for the residents to do in the coming months. It all depends on whether the residents are ambulatory or not."

"I went to check the Jewish Home of Rochester. It's very nice, but it's a package deal, and it won't break it up for independent living and dependent ones, so you pay the same price for independent living and not independent living, and I can't afford that. They have excellent rooms. You get all kinds of amenities like food service, housekeeping, and everything. They have a gym, and it is a nice complex. I saw the dining area, and it was clean, but there was nobody there because people were clearing out for breakfast. It's excellent, clean, and they have a buffet and servers. That's what you're paying for, all those amenities. They have a parking lot, and you just park your car. There's no assigned parking space. The person who showed me around the place was very friendly and very helpful. I was looking for a 1-bedroom or 2-bedroom apartment, but they didn't have anything available. I kept calling because I saw it on a commercial on TV, and it says it's available, but when you call them, there's no availability."

"This is an excellent facility that gives good care to it's residents. My mother in law was there until she passed away. I know of many happy residents there. "

"After being hospitalized for a couple weeks, I was transferred to The Highlands at Brighton to continue my recovery. Staff exceeded my expectation 24 hours a day, my daily needs were met with professionalism and patient. My recovery went quicker than previously predicted due to the staff genuine working with me everyday to return home."

"Nursing staff was professional and timely with providing care to my mom. The food was pretty good for the most part. The dietician was helpful in picking out alternate food options for the fish she didn’t like. Rooms were clean and well maintained. Every room came with their own TV. Closets could be bigger, but everything fit and the nursing home was willing to provide laundry service. There were activities everyday and the activity staff were extremely friendly and energetic. Bingo seems like the hot ticket as everyone seemed to show up for that. "

"This place is a dump. It was recently taken over by a company on Long Island. The recording that plays when you're on hold makes it sound like a spa. My sister is a resident on the 3rd floor and they never answer the phone (the 2nd floor does answer). She said the food is terrible. Her room is crowded & the laundry practically throws her clothes in the closet. There is a heating unit by the window & the bottom is broken & hanging loose. The wall behind her bed was plastered very sloppily. Her call light is frequently not answered. There is sometimes food on the floor in the hallway & recently there was blood there. The staff is nice enough. My sister's hair hasn't been washed in months. No amenities, although you'd never know by listening to the telephone message. Big turnover of staff. "
