My parents moved into Friendly Home. It's a great facility. It's rated number one in New York State. They're very attentive. They have nurses and they have nurse practitioners on call. They have a social worker. They are in a shared room that's got a wall, but because they're together they got this shared room to themselves. They have their two recliners and a TV, and then they have two twin beds on the other side because they've set it up for a couple. They have all kinds of social events downstairs and they're both doing physical therapy. I think the food is excellent. They're phenomenal compared to other places around here.
What you can do with Caring
About Friendly Home in Rochester, New York
Welcome to Friendly Senior Services! The Friendly Home provides nursing care, rehabilitation and related services that enhance the quality of life for older adults, and is committed to being the provider and employer of choice, continuing a tradition of not-for-profit service to the community. You'll always find support and camaraderie at the Friendly Home, from our dedicated staff to fellow Members. Exceptional care is enhanced by the clinical resources, services and amenities that exceed Members’ expectations. The difference is in the personal details that foster a true sense of belonging.
In 1849, a group of benevolent women formed the "Rochester Society for the Relief of Friendless and Homeless Females." As the Society grew, an old tavern was purchased on the corner of East Avenue and Alexander Street in downtown Rochester for its new location. The Society was then incorporated under the name "The Rochester Home for the Friendless."
As the mission of the organization evolved and the need for services increased, the Home moved to its current location at 3156 East Avenue in Brighton, and became known as "The Rochester Friendly Home." Later, the name changed to simply "the Friendly Home," as it is known today.
Although our name has changed over the years, the sentiments and philosophy that first inspired the original Society have remained constant. From an organization that sheltered homeless women to an organization that is committed to providing a continuum of care to older adults, the Friendly Home has always been dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of those we serve.
