"I know somebody at South Jersey Extended Care. It's adequate, but it could be better. They keep it clean. My problem is the food is not good. The main thing I would be looking at in a place is their menu. It's hard to find some place that lives up to better nutrition. I think they need to be improving the food they serve their clients. The janitor was the most helpful and lovely person there. The staff was good, but they change all the time. They keep changing their staff except for the lady at the desk and the janitor. There's a constant turnover in the administration. Individually, they're great. The director of food services would very often like to improve what they can serve, but they're rather restricted. When they serve broccoli to these residents, they give them the broccoli stalks. They don't get the top of the broccoli, and for old people, you can't chew that, which means they're not eating their broccoli. That is being too cheap just serving broccoli stalks instead of broccoli with the heads on. He has a little refrigerator in his room, so I can take him fresh fruits and fresh solid things, which otherwise he wouldn't be getting. They play cards, but they can't get outside. They got a smoking area outside for the smokers, but the people who don't smoke, there's not a safe outside area for them to be in. They shouldn't be indoors all the time. It's all on one level, and it's an old place. I went there last month, but I don't get to go inside. I just give some things that he needs and wave through the door at him."

"My aunt is at Cumberland Manor. We chose this place because her primary care physician is actually the medical director, so that gave her some comfort going somewhere where she knew she would still see her own doctor. My experience with them has been excellent. They have been very good with her. They really are working with her. She has improved actually since she has been there. There are a lot more interactions. They make sure she is getting physical therapy. It has been very positive. What I like best about Cumberland, for us is that it is in a great location for our family because it is centrally located, and they are just so very friendly. It is very clean. It is just very exceptional. You don't walk and think you're in a nursing home, and that was important to us that the environment was a good healthy environment. "

"The rehab I did at Millville Center wasn't much. They were supposed to rehab me for my right leg, but it was nothing more than getting your blood circulating. It wasn't helping me at all. They had a nurse practitioner there and she didn't respond well to my needs. Some of the staff also didn't respond to my needs, so I wouldn't recommend that place. My accommodation wasn't bad in that respect but I ended up being on long-term, and I had a roommate, and I didn't like that guy. They have an activity room where they had some guest musicians and arts and crafts activities."

"My husband has moved into Bishop McCarthy Residence. It's two people per room, and he was used to having his own room and everything. I spoke to the CNA and the nurse that were there, They seem very nice. He will be getting PT, OT, and a dietitian. First, they do an evaluation to figure out where he's at. They take it from there and then assign him to whatever therapy he needed at this time. When I was there yesterday, they were going to have bingo time. The staff interacts with them, which is very nice. Some other guys were out there in the hall, they were in the visiting sections. The rooms were small, but they were clean. They did have a person come in and he cleaned out the bathroom and everything. You're allowed to visit from 8 AM to 8 PM."

"I went to a luncheon at Friends Village at Woodstown. We did the assisted living and the independent living. The assisted living had more like private hospital rooms. The independent living apartments were absolutely beautiful. The one that I was in had an individual bedroom, a separate living room, fireplace, kitchen, an actual dining room, a garage, and a patio. It's like a home. The staff was excellent. She had lunch with us, and there was another couple at my table. It was just a very, very informative time. They had different speakers, including some people from The Village. It was just very informative. I haven't seen anything quite like that. The food was good, and everybody at the table agreed. I don't know if it was just for us that day or this is the regular menu. It was very good. It was a good luncheon."

"I visited this facility once a week to go see one of my grandmother's friends with her. The employees at the facility seemed extremely nice and friendly. They always were polite to us. My grandmother's friend said that she enjoyed staying at the facility. She said that they had really good food, lots of different activities and tons of free time. She said it was a wonderful place to live and she really liked it. The other patients seemed to like it there too because they were always in the hall ways or in the other common rooms laughing and having a good time. Over all I would rate the place a n A. "

"This facility seems to keep it's long term patients emotional, physical and spiritual health all in mind. I have been there with my Church to perform services for the residents (as our church does once a month) and the residents all seem to be very well taken care of and happy for the most part. There are times when a person goes to the facility just for rehab perhaps after a stroke or other event, but then there are people that live there full time and they are all treated with dignity and respect. Some times the older folks who seem to be permanent residents get emotional at our hymn sings and the girl that works for the facility and coordinates the services is always there to try to comfort them as best she can. The faculty is clean, well lit and welcoming. Actually one of my distant relatives also stayed in this place for a short in and she had nothing but good things to say about everyone. "

"My friend stayed at Kennedy Health Care Center for about 20 days. The staff overall was pretty nice. It was clean, but you could smell feces when you walk through. They could use spray, and they didn't. I kept bringing in containers of air freshener for him. "

"My dad was at Pinnacle Rehabilitation in Smyrna. He was there for around 2 months and came home just before Christmas. I would give it a higher rating, even though it was not as pretty. Just looking at it, it looked more like a hospital. However, they took good care of my dad. Everyone was attentive. They watched over him. The food was good. The people who served the food were nice. The people who cleaned up, if he had an accident were nice. They had watchable TVs in every room too. While the furniture was definitely old (and it looked old) like it's been there a long time; but when it came down to it, it didn't really matter. Everybody else was nice. In this particular place, I had access to both the rehab and the nursing. The nursing part of it wasn't separated into two, so there were people who were there because they needed nursing care as well as needing rehab. My dad was among all the others that have the ability to walk around or roll around in their wheelchairs. People watch them, but they have a little bit more freedom. They had activities to do, and they definitely engaged everyone. I was very, very surprised because when I looked online, it didn't have a great rating. The food was very good. They had a lot of different varieties at first because he has had a heart attack and dementia, so they were giving him purees. Then they went to cut off ones, and then he went to whole foods. This was all in conjunction with the occupational therapist. He was closely monitored, so he went through those 3 stages of food. The facility was clean and maintained well. It was all on one level, and there were corridors to different sides of the building. It was all connected at the same time. They have wings, I guess you can call them. They gave them different names. I didn't see that there was really any outside area for my father to be in. The residents in the nursing home section (there was a nursing home long-term care section) had a living room area that went out to the back yard. We could have gone outback, but this was November or December so nobody was going outside."

"My mother is in Silver Lake Center for long-term care. The staff seems very knowledgeable and very personable. It's an older building, and I think she said it was about 30 years old. It looked OK for a building being that age. I wish she had a bigger room, but she doesn't from what I could see from the windows, because we're not allowed to go in the bedroom. I went there Mother's Day and they allowed us to come in. They gave us a certain time to be there. Her room is like a hospital setup, and it reminded me of a dorm room. There's a person in there with her. My mother is not happy about being there. She wants to be home. She's 95 years old and she's used to being on her own, and that's confining to her. I could tell when we were there that they're being very patient with her. What they're trying to do is let her get used to the place, and them get used to her, so they can both be on the same level, and I appreciate that. We went into the function room, but it was set up like a little dining area. It can sit about 15 people, but they only allow one family in there at a time. They will bring the patients to you. They will wheel them out in a wheelchair or whatever they need to do because the rooms are really too small for everybody to be there, and with COVID, they still want you to be there at six feet apart. We should make the appointment 48 hours ahead of time so that they can get the patient ready, the nurse, and whoever gets the patient ready for you, especially like my mom, if they have to have assistants, which is fair. It looks pretty good for an older building. The landscaping and things are good. I can't say anything negative about it. I think the most negative part is my mother, and they have nothing to do with that. It's covered under her Medicare. Right now, she's paying $189 out-of-pocket to match Medicare. For the service that they're giving, in all fairness, that's a fair price because she's getting meals and service."

"Westminster Village is a very nice facility. The staff was very courteous and they were willing and able to answer any questions that I had. I currently have my mother who lives in this community. She lives in an apartment and is very pleased with it. The common areas are very tidy and appear to be well kept. Another wonderful feature about Westminster is the location, it is located right in the middle of Dover, and there are plenty of things to do. Many of the stores are just a few blocks away. This is a wonderful facility, with a wonderful staff and an up beat atmosphere. I would highly recommend it. "

"We chose Shady Lane because it is a nursing home and for the kind of care that my grandmother needed, that was a top priority for us. Also the location was within 5 miles from my home, so it ended up working out for us. My grandmother did well there. She did very well. It was close to her, so knowing that the staff there was local, she did know some people there. They were the staff who knew her from growing up, so it made it a lot easier for her. Overall, we couldn't have been happier with it. They do so many activities with them all the time, all day long. They make sure no matter they would pull her out of her room and say, "you're coming." They have a singer come in a couple of times a week. They take her down to the salon; they get her hair and nail done. They make it as comfortable and as homey as possible. It works out for my grandmother; they are really, really good. "

"My dad had been in PAM Health Rehabilitation. It's very nice. It's acute physical therapy. It's top-notch and very nice. It was very clean, and they got lots of therapy. Everyone was nice. The staff were very attentive and did a good job. They did not have a cafeteria for visitors. The cafeteria was just for the residents, and my dad said it was good. My dad enjoyed it. They had a big physical therapy room that was very good."
