"This in patient rehabilitation hospital provided excellent care to my step-dad. He came in unable to stand upright and left walking 300 ft and able to complete all of his ADLs. The care was phenomenal! His pain was well controlled and they made sure he got his 15 hours of therapy per week. The food was delicious and the chef made a special meal to accommodate his request."

"Westminster Village in Dover was very, very nice. I liked everything about it. I looked at the assisted living for my husband, and we drove through their independent community. I liked the assisted living. However, he chose not to go. They had very cute little apartments. The people there were wonderful. I spoke to them several times, but my husband chose not to go, so I didn't pursue it any further. The staff was very kind, very knowledgeable, and very pleasant. They had a pretty, little, almost like a cafe-type setup, with a piano."

"I am so impressed with Complete Care Silver Lake. A big shout out to all the nurses and aids, they are AWESOME and genuinely caring people. Dietary has been very responsive to Mom’s (many!) requests, and they put in 200% effort to serve tasty meals with a smile! Silver Lake also has a great activity program, working hard to offer something for everyone. The administrator is kind and involved—he’s a person that listens to residents, that means so much! It’s been incredibly difficult to realize Mom needed nursing care—but Silver Lake made it just a little easier because Mom is treated like family in their caring community. Thank you Complete Care at Silver Lake."

"My father was in Center At Eden Hill for rehab. They were wonderful. Very caring, very personable, and very respectful. They were just awesome. I would recommend it. I recommended it to two of my friends who also had their parents needing rehab, and they both went there as well. The food was great too. They cater to them, so in the event he wanted something different, they would go get it for them. They were over the top with respect to accommodating. Very clean, and very professional. Downstairs was gorgeous, all the rooms on the second and third floors were always very clean, and well organized."

"My dad was at Cumberland Manor for two weeks. The staff was great and we had no complaints. They were very courteous and they try to accommodate our wishes. My dad already passed away. He just had more issues than we thought. He had kidney trouble, then liver, and then blood infection. But they treated him really well. The facility is located on a beautiful countryside and it's peaceful there, too. "

"I know somebody at South Jersey Extended Care. It's adequate, but it could be better. They keep it clean. My problem is the food is not good. The main thing I would be looking at in a place is their menu. It's hard to find some place that lives up to better nutrition. I think they need to be improving the food they serve their clients. The janitor was the most helpful and lovely person there. The staff was good, but they change all the time. They keep changing their staff except for the lady at the desk and the janitor. There's a constant turnover in the administration. Individually, they're great. The director of food services would very often like to improve what they can serve, but they're rather restricted. When they serve broccoli to these residents, they give them the broccoli stalks. They don't get the top of the broccoli, and for old people, you can't chew that, which means they're not eating their broccoli. That is being too cheap just serving broccoli stalks instead of broccoli with the heads on. He has a little refrigerator in his room, so I can take him fresh fruits and fresh solid things, which otherwise he wouldn't be getting. They play cards, but they can't get outside. They got a smoking area outside for the smokers, but the people who don't smoke, there's not a safe outside area for them to be in. They shouldn't be indoors all the time. It's all on one level, and it's an old place. I went there last month, but I don't get to go inside. I just give some things that he needs and wave through the door at him."

"Our Mom Mary was a patient at this facility for rehabilitation and we meant a few very pleasant workers. They seemed very busy but the young lady working the door that evening was very helpful. She provided much information that put our mind at ease and even escorted us to our destination. We wanted to thank her when we came back that week but found out it wasn’t her normal position she was actually a staffing coordinator named Ms Marquita. Thank you young lady for being kind and compassionate we appreciate all your help."

"My friend is at New Castle Health and Rehabilitation Center. The nurses are excellent there. They're so nice. They're excellent. She was in another one, and they couldn't compare to this one. When I first went there, it was kind of touch and go because my friend had been in other ones, and I thought, 'Here we go again.' However, it was very nice there. The people there are excellent. They take such good care of everyone. Usually, when you go into a place like this, a lot of times it'll smell like someone has a dirty diaper or something, but New Castle never has an odor in there. It's very clean. It is not modern as far as new things, but it is immaculate. The employees are excellent. They treat people like their own mother or father, that's how nice they are. They offer a lot of different activities. They give you a paper for the month telling you what's going on every day. They have bingo. You can get your hair done on Wednesday. They have manicures one day a week. It's so pleasant. The people who are working there make you feel like you're at home. They're very nice people. Food is delivered to their rooms. My friend eats it all, so I guess it's not too bad. However, they could give a little larger portion. They can get my friend a sandwich if she wants it. As for the upkeep, they keep the place very nice and clean, but it is an older building."

"My grandparents moved into this facility about 5 years ago, and have had a wonderful experience with them. I can see why when I make my visits a couple times a year. The staff is very friendly to everyone and happy to meet and accommodate for visitors. My grandparents own two pets: a cat and a dog, and they are able to keep both with out any problems. When my grandmother walks the dog to the "big house" (the main building), the employees greet the sheltie with a treat and talk to my grandmother. The houses and facilities are great, they have a chef that cooks nice food, and it is clear when I visit that everyone is happy to live there. The residents are also very friendly. I always enjoy visiting to see the friends I have made over the years. I feel so welcome when I go to Heron Point, and I don't think anyone would ever feel differently. I can't see myself ever living in a retirement community in the future, however, I would be happy to stay at a place like Heron Point! "

"This facility is the best in Chestertown. They gave my husband hope and a reason for living, the staff is most compassionate, caring and loving we have ever met, the food is the best. I always felt as if the nursing home. was our home, the laughter was so wonderful. Please give this place a chance, it is the very, very best. Unlike other places the nurs.ing staff listens to the patient and the family, they will go out of their to make your stay the best. Thank you to all, for giving my huband and I hope. "

"I had a friend who was at Laurelwood Healthcare Center for 10 weeks. We weren't very happy with the staffing, the pushy business environment, and the lack of support in getting financial assistance. They were pushing for his wife to be there, and it wasn't even appropriate. So, my entire experience with them was negative. I was there almost daily. My friend's room was clean and sparse. Their food was average (I don't think it was any better or worse than anyplace else). The clinical staff seemed great, but the administrative staff was not helpful. They're the ones who were pushy and not really supportive of my friend's situation."

"I would actually rate this a zero. The facility is not the cleanest. The front desk is rude. I did encounter some nice people, but not enough to compensate for the bad. Despite these "minor" issues that could be tolerated, this is why I would not put your loved one here. The nurse or tech came to my mom when she rang her bell at night. My mom needed to be changed and was having chest pain. The girl said "what do you want me to do about it, I'm not touching you - you have disease, why do you go to bathroom so much?" (I didn't know about this at that time because she was afraid to tell us thinking they'd be even more mean to her at night when we left) Then, a couple days later I went to see her at night ( I wasn't going to but something told me too) When I got there she said she had been telling them something was wrong with her feeding tube and her throat was burning and she was struggling. I immediately got the nurse after I realized her feeding tube was backing up into her throat and asked that they turn it off and helped her cough it up. At this point she had already started to aspirate on it. I asked that a doctor be called (to which at this time none were there on duty) and 911 was called. She is currently still in the hospital, still fighting. The hospital showed me her bottom side and that this should not have happened and the look on their faces was that of just dismay. I've heard stories about nursing homes but I really never thought it happened or would happen to us. I know each person has their own experience, but ours was not good. Very disappointed that there are people out there like this."

"My mother is living in here; it is very nice. They are very caring, and they seemed to take very good care of her. It’s bright, cheery, and it’s very clean. They are very kind, caring, and there is always somebody close at hand to even just to stop and chat with her and try to boost her spirits, so we have been very happy with it. My mother and another woman are in one room, and the space is good. She loves the food there; it’s very good, and it’s almost like they are going to a restaurant. They have a menu for every meal, and I think they have a couple of choices. They always have a few things just in case; she can always get grilled cheese or soup or something. I think that’s one of the pluses; she really seems to enjoy the food. Every morning they do a session called keep it sharp; they get the residents in a room, read a newspaper, and they discuss different articles in the newspaper. They do karaoke and arts and crafts, and it seems pretty active there."

"The nurses and the CA’s and the ladies in the therapy room are great. They help you with what you need. The rest of the employees are just as good. The food was so so. There was time it was good and times it was not. Overall I had a safe time there. The people were nice. I was taken care of. The room was kept clean. I was kept clean. I would stay there again if I had to. "

"Newark Manor is excellent and worked well with Alzheimer’s patients. They’re very caring to mom. It’s clean, and I like where it is; it's near my home and a university, and there are plenty of things to do. The Alzheimer’s Unit is on the third floor, so it’s very secure. "
