"My dad is doing very well at Forwood Manor. Everything has been very good and we haven't had any complaints whatsoever. I think the staff is great. They treat him very well, and they're very attentive. He has been gaining weight while he's there. So he must be enjoying the food. We actually went there and had lunch with him a couple of times. It was very good. Everything has been taken care of. We're very impressed and very happy. "

"My mother has moved into Harmony at Kent Memory Care. The concierge is very welcoming and energetic. The place is new and well-designed. It's clean and smells good. It has new furniture. It's very welcoming. The color is very appealing. It's a very good impression walking in. The staff is good. We are there frequently and when we're there, we notice that whether it's my mom or others, they treat them professionally. They're caring and attentive. They have different activities. They have a director and they do gardening, they have games, and they do bingo. They have a dress-up activity where you dress in different costumes. They have a Friday night gathering where they can socialize with the other residents that might be in assisted living or independent living. They have wine and cheese. They get a lot of food, but my mom has concerns. There's like a lot of pasta and my mother doesn't eat that, but they did ask for a menu of what she does eat. I noticed that there's an improvement in trying to have things that she will eat. We can leave food there in case she doesn't eat. They can always warm up something, food, or pastries, just as a backup. If she didn't want to eat at that time, but she gets hungry later, they allowed us to bring in food that she could utilize."

"The visiting experience with Ivy Gables was wonderful and the person who showed me around was great. The place looked fine, but their residents were more non-mobile, so it just wasn't quite a good fit. They just need to improve on communication because I gave them all the patient's information, but I never heard from them again."

"I had been to Friends Home in Kennett to tour it. It's convenient. It's right in the middle of town, it's not too far from the senior center, and it's not too far from my son. I haven't met any of the staff except for the lady that shows you around the place, and she was very helpful. The amenities they offer are meals and laundry. I also saw the salon and the courtyard. I think the upkeep was pretty good. I'm only good for one bedroom, plus I don't need anything else, but it was adequate. In terms of location, they got a lot of restaurants up and down the street. They got all kinds of little hospitals and then they got the big hospital."

"Springmill Community is an excellent community. We have a clubhouse, a swimming pool, Shuffleboard games, tennis, and Pickleball. It's very inexpensive to live here. The monthly fee is $150, which includes mowing, taking care of your lawns, and snow removal. We have activities like making dolls and giving them to the hospitals, a card room, a pool room, trips that you can take outside, and people that would come in for entertainment (we just had a quartet of singers recently). It's a very friendly community. We have people from New York, New Jersey, and even from Pennsylvania. On the street where I live, they're all super wonderful people. No one bothers anyone unless you want to be bothered. No one's at your door every morning having coffee. They'll come down on you if your house needs to be power washed or your curtains aren't all white on the outside. They're very strict, which I like, because it keeps the community beautiful. The only drawback is our clubhouse holds only 100 people and in this community, there are like 330 houses or somewhere in there."

"I went to Marydale Retirement Village in person. I filled out an application. It was rather nice. I have concerns about transportation to my doctor's appointment at Wilmington Adult Medicine, but they have a bus for transportation. You schedule your rides, and they tell you what days their bus is available. It's a nice facility. It's not just a room; it is actually like a small apartment. It has a fairly large bedroom, a full kitchen, a full-size stove, a refrigerator, and a microwave. They provide you with services for furniture and things like that, so that was kind of nice. I met with their social director, and they have a lot of social activities. They provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They have a small food bank and a small clothing bank. I have a friend who lives there, and he loves it there. You have a lot of privacy. The apartments are of more than adequate size. I said, "I don't have any furniture." They said, "Don't worry about that. We have churches that donate furniture and all that can be arranged and delivered to you." The grounds are well-kept and spacious. They have groundkeepers, and they have an active office for the residents to come and go. The amenities of living there are considerable, and I had a positive experience with my visit there. The facility was well kept, too. My friend has been living, and he is very happy."

"I will be moving into Ridgewood Manor. It's a modular home park for 55 plus, so I have my own place. I have a little yard. I have neighbors all about the same age. The modular home was in my price range, and I'm looking forward to it. I like the area. It's closer to my doctors and closer to the highway. The manager was great, very helpful, and nice. She gave me the information I requested and returned phone calls when I called. They have a basketball court, a park, and a few gazebos around the area so that you can have picnics with your family. It is very well kept. The yards are nice. They had very nice sidewalks. It's a quiet neighborhood, which is what I want."

"From my observation, I liked everything I saw in Victoria Park At North East. I didn't see anything that I wasn't pleased with. The apartments were spacious. They had everything that I would need. They were bright and very clean. The carpets were clean. For a single person living alone, it fits my needs. The staff were very nice. They have laundry facilities, mail facilities, an exercise room, and a library. They have a computer set-up and Wi-Fi service. I was pleased with the place. They have a new person in charge, and she was more than accommodating. She made an appointment with us. We sat, we talked, and we could ask questions. She was very accommodating. It was very clean with no foul odors."

"I toured and it was excellent. It has a nice atmosphere, everybody was pleasant, and they even greeted us at the door. The menus for their breakfast, lunch, and dinner were excellent too. They showed us 2 independent living apartments that had microwaves and refrigerators. The place also comes with 3 meals a day and it's a brand-new building."

"Millcroft took very good care of my friend. We were very disappointed with the food. We told them my friend didn't like any kind of seafood, and yet she would continually be given tuna fish sandwiches for lunch. We also told them that she didn't like peas, but they'd still give her those on her dinner plate as well as split pea soup. They'd also give her canned fruit as opposed to fresh fruit for breakfast."

"We saw assisted and independent at The Summit. It's a newer facility than others, so it's a little bit more modern. The amenities were a little bit more modern as well. It's airy, there's a lot of light, and just structurally it seemed to be a better facility. They had a lot of activities for the residents. I was pretty impressed. It was just very pricy. The staff seemed pretty nice."
