"The Vero at Newark is a brand-new facility, so everything is up to date. We met several of the staff, and they were all very friendly and welcoming. We ate lunch there and it was excellent. And I think they had a broader range of activities than some of the others. The rooms were very new and nice, but relatively small. I thought the food was excellent. There was a reasonable choice, and it was very good. The living atmosphere was very open, airy, bright, and very nice. They had entertainment coming in. The night we were there, they had a musician that was excellent. They had happy hours in their little cafe. There's a lot of things on their calendar. I can't remember all of them, but it was quite extensive. They have snacks, and they can watch sporting events. They have a theater available for rent. It was very nice."

"My cousin moved into Merrill Gardens at West Chester. We chose it because the price was good, and the community seemed very active. The place is very well-kept. They have a movie theater, a diner, a salon, a pub, a game room, and pool tables. She's in a studio room, which is very nice and well-kept. I have tried the food there and it's good. It seems to establish more of a community than just a general senior home, and I've visited quite a few."

"St. Martha Villa was very lovely. The person who showed me around was excellent. They didn't have shared bedrooms. You have to be in an apartment on your own, so my mom couldn't afford to stay there. The people we talked to seemed to enjoy the food, and the dining room was very clean and accommodating. We saw their calendar of events; there's something to do every day."

"I liked Meadowcrest at Middletown, but because of not having a full kitchen and not being able to do your own laundry inside the apartments in assisted living, I'd give it a four. The staff was knowledgeable. They took me around to both independent living and assisted living, explained all the differences between them, introduced me around, showed me the theater room, and all of that, so they were very thorough in letting me know what amenities they had. Everything was clean and well-organized. There was a laundry room in the hall."

"I toured Echo Lake, and it was worth a six. It was like being in a luxury hotel. It was gorgeous. Everything that you can imagine they have, except for the chapel. They have doctors' offices. They have a gym. They had a huge art room, and a bus to take you places, like a weekly run to the supermarket, within a certain distance. Also, to doctor's offices if you didn't want to use the doctor that was there at the building. It's a couple of stories high. It was huge. For me it was expensive. They had a lot of two-bedroom units there as well."

"My friend likes the appearance. She said it's a friendly community, and she loves the food. They play bingo, puzzles and things, but she was isolated for ten days, so she hasn't done a lot yet. They also got a beauty parlor that's not opened yet, but they have a bus that takes them to doctors' appointments. They have really nice grounds where you can walk outside, and an out back area where they have barbecues in the summertime. It's in a very nice setting. It's a small community, and there's only 26 residents for each of the two buildings. It's very cozy once you get used to it, and it's very nice inside."

"My friend was a resident of Fountain View at Logan Square. They do get you up and around and they don't want the patients to be laying in the bed all the time, and I thought that was very good. The problem is, it's a very good facility, but it's out of a lot of people's reach. I did look at their apartments and it was attached to the rehab center, which I felt was great, but it was pretty expensive. I'm sure there are ways of working it out. I did speak to the person who was in charge of social work there, and she was pretty helpful. It was very nice. They have group sessions, which I felt were very good because she was able to socialize. It was a nice facility. It was just very expensive. I thought this one was one of the nicer ones, mainly because it was also an apartment. They kept it up very nicely. The apartments were very nice, everything seemed to be running very well, and the patient care was very good. Their staff was very good."

"My mother spent the last close to 4 years of her life at Cardinal Village Assisted Living. Although Mom was not the easiest person to deal with all the staff, aides, nurses, dining room workers, Activities staff were always very kind to her. On a personal note as her days drew close to the end the love and caring that was given to me and my family was indeed over and above their "job duties". If you want to feel that your loved one is being taken care of on a day to day basis to relieve your anxiety and stress I can highly recommend Cardinal Village to you. Although Mom is gone I will still be going there to visit all my sweet ladies and gents and to plant flowers on the patio I loved to sit with her on. "I visited Juniper Village at Washington Square and toured their assisted living. It was lovely, but the rooms were on the second and third floors and my brother did not like that. He wanted to be on the ground floor. The place was beautiful, though. The food was wonderful and everybody was very pleasant. All the rooms we saw were very nice, too. The staff who assisted us was pleasant. They have a lot of activities. They take groups out to places, there's a place to play cards, and there's a little coffee kitchen with different kinds of coffee. It's lovely. They served me a meal, which was wonderful. It was like going to a restaurant."

"We went to Pinnacle at Plymouth Meeting. What I like most about Pinnacle is that my parents liked it. The staff was very accommodating. My parents had everything that they could need. They could age in place there. The community that they witnessed that was there was friendly. They like the way that Pinnacle had activities set up for them and the structure has a lot of room. The rooms were nice. They had a one-bedroom place that they liked. The bedroom was separate from the living area. They like Pinnacle the best, but they couldn't afford it. It was way out of their price range. The staff was wonderful. The person who gave us the tour was very hospitable and pleasant. It was great. That was a good visit. The place was very well kept up. They had a lot of activities for the residents. They have different game rooms. They had a little club where they could go and have cocktails that they liked, and they had places on the ground where they could walk around, very scenic. They had a manicured landscaping that my mom loved."
