Nursing Home Communities in Eureka, MO

"My husband is in the Pacific Care Center nursing home. It seems very clean and it's very seldom for it to have a bad odor. They took a lot better care of my husband than the other place he was in. They also have more activities and communicate better. They always answer when I call. He's only been there for a month but it seems like they have just been a lot different than the other facility he was out of. Overall, I'm just really pleased with them. They had a Christmas party for the residents, bingo, and people coming in to sing, so they just had more activities. They involve all the residents, and even the office people and the administrator. Everyone seems like they get involved with all of that. They help feed my husband when he can't do it himself. It appears to me like they all help with everything and it's not just one person's job. The office people and the aides all seem like they work together a lot better. They're more reasonably priced than a lot of other places, too."

"I refer to Meramec Bluffs-Lutheran Senior Services as a campus, but the building and everything were just absolutely beautiful. They had walking trails that overlooked the river. The environment inside the facility was just outstanding; it felt more like a resort than it felt like assisted living. They had a restaurant, a lap pool, they had a putting green, they had a movie theater, and they had all sorts of activity areas. It was just everything that we were looking for. They surpassed everything that we wanted. We didn't try the food there but we saw the menu. They said that they treat it more like a restaurant, which was wonderful. So my wife could just come in there and they would present her with a menu, she could choose which one she wanted, and they would go back and cook it for her. It felt much more comfortable and relaxing. It felt like going into a restaurant, not going into a cafeteria or dining area where the food's already prepared and they just, you know, eat whatever they presented."

"We had to find a place for my aunt who was getting dementia. Visited a lot of high end places, settled on this facility located in a small neighborhood. BEST choice ever. Great Caring staff and wonderful activities. Very pleased all around. Best of all it was not the most expensive but was much nicer. "

"We went to see Delmar Gardens on the Green last Thursday. It's a nursing home and they were very friendly. My mother-in-law doesn't walk very far so they got her a wheelchair so she can be pushed around. She has COPD so every 10 steps get her winded and it would have been a long tour had we not had them. They were very accommodating and answered all the questions she had, even if it wasn't a great question. It seemed very clean and the people seemed very well taken care of. When we left, she said that she could see herself there, but she's not quite ready for a nursing home yet. We got this referral from Humana and we thought it was also an assisted living and somewhere you can transition into a nursing home, but apparently, they don't have the assisted living portion of it. My mother-in-law was kind of disappointed because it wasn't what she thought it was but that's not their fault. It's very beautiful when we pulled up so the outside was very well-maintained. Sometimes that can be deceiving but this place was very clean and organized inside too. The person at the front was efficient and friendly. They weren't quite prepared for our tour, even though we had an appointment, but they were quick to find someone. They took our temperatures and asked us if we had been vaccinated. We had masks on and all that good stuff."

"I preferred Big Bend Woods over others for my mother because of the cleanliness. The facility has a lot of open spaces like windows. I got a room for my mother, it is good. The food is very good, they prepare a balanced meal. The staff were very nice and knowledgeable, very welcoming. I would recommend the place to others. "

"My mother-in-law moved to Delmar Gardens in Meramec Valley. I like it all. I don't have any complaints. I'm very happy. I feel she's very safe and well taken care of. The staff was excellent. I didn't taste their food, but it smells delicious. The facility is very clean and very nice. What I like about them, they treat each resident with respect, and they talk to them. They don't ignore them. There's a two-door room. They're fine, very adequate. The atmosphere is very good and very pleasant."

"Garden View Care Center of Dougherty Ferry was a very nice facility. The staff was very friendly staff, very accommodating, and very nice. I like the layout. I knew what my brother liked. It was really a small area, but they've got very nice staff and very nice people. We couldn't go a thorough tour because of the Covid. They had a salon, but I didn't get to see a lot of it. I had a cup of coffee, and it was good. They had a lot of things they offered in the memory care unit. It was just so restricted because of the Covid."

"The staff is very personable, they did the best they could with what they have, and they did everything for my friend with her needs. They have physical therapy, television, and bingo, but they should have an area where the patients could go outside, like the tables and umbrellas and that kind of thing to sit up and enjoy. "

"Fieser Nursing Home was just wanted we needed when my sister had to go into skilled nursing care. The people are very nice and compassionate. The facility is clean, the food is served in a timely manner and looks good. They were very accommodating to my sister's needs, she had dementia and when she went into hospice they were very helpful and worked well with the hospice staff. I highly recommend Fieser in Fenton."

"I've been in South County Nursing Home for four years now. In the last four months, we've been going through a drastic change because the nursing home has been sold to Reliant. The staff has changed, but from what I have experienced in the past four months, everybody is awesome. We've got anywhere from a different cook all the way down to the CNAs. I can't say anything bad about the experience I personally have gone through. I've been treated very well. I have a roommate, and it's set up just like in a hospital. It is a semi-private room. We have very limited space for clothes and closet space, and things like that. We share a bathroom with another resident in the next room. It'll be about 45, 50 years old. It's not modern at all. We've had a new chef in the last couple of weeks, and he's trying. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give it a 5. We don't get any fresh fruit, bananas, or oranges. All our fruit comes out of a can or something like that. That's my biggest complaint, and a lot of carbs. We eat a lot of potatoes with gravy, or everything has gravy on it. We have a residential council, and I'm the president of all the residents here. We have a social council meeting once a month, and I speak up in the meeting for all of the residents. If they have a complaint about the shower rooms or the laundry service or whatever, instead of everybody trying to put in their two cents, I am elected to speak for them. We have an activity department that two ladies run, and basically, all they really do for us is bingo. They have a Bible study one hour out of the week, and very few residents take any part in that. They have exercise, and very few residents take any part in that as well, but the bingo is what really pulls everybody together. Up until four months ago, pretty much everybody was 50 and over. Now we even have three or four residents here who are totally blind. They were very careful about who they let come here to live, but now they pretty much take anybody off the street. We even have one man who is on house arrest in which four months ago wouldn't have been considered. They have two dining areas, one for one-half of the building. They call it the front dining room and the back dining room. As a resident here, the State requires them to pay us like anywhere from $30 to $50 spending money. In the last four months, it's been very difficult getting our pay. We were promised the last three days that we would be paid again today. Our pay comes in on the third and fourth of every month, and it is the seventh or eighth today, and we still haven't been paid."

"The rooms at NHC HealthCare were nice, and I liked them. I only met the person who gave us the tour. She was nice, and the dining area was nice. The grounds were lovely, and I liked it a lot. "

"Delmar Gardens of Chesterfield was clean. The staff was excellent. I liked the fact that it was close to my house and the fact that it has a fairly well-known name. Everybody knows about Delmar Gardens, and they kind of have a good reputation. The admissions director was excellent. He was the one who actually found us a place. The one negative is they had a waiting list; we couldn't get my mother in right away. That probably would have been our first choice, but we didn't know when she could get in, so we had to move to a place that was a little farther away. One slight negative was it's very large. Other than that, there were really no negatives. The only activity I saw was they were having a Catholic worship service in the common area. They had some areas outside. They had kind of a little spa with a shower area, a whirlpool, and some other things in there."

"Right now, my mom is in The Quarters getting occupational and physical therapy. We chose The Quarters because my Aunt lived here full time in their Memory Care unit long ago. She passed away there and we were pleased with the experience, so Mom chose to come here for therapy after her surgery. Here are some of the changes I have noticed since my Aunt was there (all positive); 1) There is no longer a "Memory Care" unit. The 2nd floor of the building now accommodates all permanent nursing home residents. Some, I noticed, do have memory issues, but it isn't strictly for dementia patients. 2) There are two brand new wheelchair vans out front of the building that are always on the go. Transportation is readily available for short term therapy guests as well as long term residents. 3) The company running the place now is MGM Healthcare. I can't remember who the company was when my Aunt lived here, but MGM seems to have this place in tip top shape. Very clean & friendly faces. 4) All of the rooms for therapy patients such as my Mom are PRIVATE and really large! This is so nice, especially when the whole family visits on Sundays. The workers, nurses, therapists, receptionists have been more than accommodating and really care about my Mom. My Mom has made a lot of friends in her therapy group. Everything about this facility has been very much improved since my Aunt lived here years ago. Except the food. It needs some sprucing up! But other than the food, this is a great place to be. "

"My father was at Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital. He had to have a talk with them because they wanted to give him a shower at night, and he is a shower in the morning kind of person, so they worked that out. Everybody that I had seen and talked to was very nice. The rooms were pretty big and very clean. He didn't like that they made him do stuff, and I was like, "You are in a rehab facility, and that's their job." Overall, it seemed really nice. They have a gymnasium there where they do a lot of physical therapy in groups and stuff. They have their own little cafeteria."
