"I visited with my Ward (I've been his guardian for 6 years at this same facility) approximately a week or two ago. I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the nursing home and even mentioned it to one of the caregivers. I'm in a lot of facilities and always take note of such things. It appears Cardinal Nursing Home has updated their building with fresh paint, new floors and it was again, very clean. I was so pleased. Thanks for ensuring a clean and pleasant place for our precious elderly."

"The facility we looked at was Ironwood Health Rehab, and we were very pleased. It’s very clean, caring, and efficient. The workers were very nice, friendly, and helpful, and they took very good care of my dad. They had a rehab room, outdoor courtyards, and recreational activities. However, it’s an older facility and needs modern updating. "

"My mother is at Saint Paul's. The staff is very caring. I have had lots of good conversations with the nurses and the aides there. She ended up moving from there into the hospital for a while and then rehab again and we weren't sure if she was going to be able to move in. They all loved Mom. They wanted her to come back and they said, "Whatever it takes, she can come back." They're very sweet and she's got a good friend there, too. We had Thanksgiving dinner there and it was pretty good. She has a studio, so there's a bathroom and a living room, bedroom combination. They've got lots to do there. She also has PT there, and she likes having mass every day. They come right to the floor, so I think that's good because a lot of them can't get off the floor. They try to have something every couple of days for them to do. I've only participated in making Christmas decorations. Compared to other places, value for money is very good."

"My aunt had a recent stay here. The staff was engaging and friendly. The rehab was wonderful and got my aunt back on her feet and back home quicker than we expected!"

"My wife stayed at Majestic Care of South Bend for four days, for respite. The experience was good. My wife's room was clean. They took care of my wife. The staff was about average. There were some good foods, and some were not so good. The atmosphere was OK. The people were all nice. They give you what you're asking for. They didn't keep my wife in her room all the time because she likes to talk to other people, so that can be good or bad. Even though they have an activity room that they showed me, my wife just wandered around or watched TV in her room. I didn't see any activity. This place was a lot closer and easier to get to. The facility was really clean and looked new. It has nice grounds. The people seemed to be OK and nice."

"The staff have been very welcoming from the very beginning. Now even after my parents have moved in they greet me when I come to visit. The staff is wonderful in communicating updates on my parents. Mom and dad are so happy to not have to cook any more. There are many other activities (daily mass, monthly lunch bunch, weekly happy hour, daily exercise classes) to help the residents become a real community. The rooms have a small footprint (500-550 sq ft) but they are very well maintained. They have a maintenance person who helps the residents get settled after move in (hanging art/photos, TV wall mounting) and fix anything with a work order."

"I'm here at Sprenger Health Care for rehab. I think it's really nice. The staff are fantastic. The food is very good. If you need transportation, there is a woman here that arranges the transportation. It's very good. It's very clean. I don't see anything wrong with it at all. The cost is like any other one."

"My dad was a resident of Wellbrooke of South Bend. They did their best with him, but he wasn't happy there. Other patients came into his room, used his bathroom, and slept in his bed. He's about six feet one inch, and the bed barely fits him. It was just like a dorm room. And where he's at now, we had his bed from home, and he could have his furniture. So, that was a drawback. He was just in a unit. It's separate from the other areas. It was just like an open concept, and they had activities. It was mostly women, and my dad isn't into doing arts and crafts and activities like that. The facility was clean and very nice, and they had a happy hour on Friday. The workers were good, but they were understaffed. They had one guy there who worked so hard, and my husband sometimes would have to shower my dad because he wouldn't get a shower for a week. Once a month, they had a Sunday brunch, which was nice."

"My uncle went to Healthwin. They were wonderful. The best thing I liked about them, is they were very patient with him. My uncle is not a social person, but they were very patient. They assessed everything and let us know. They kept in great communication with us. They were amazing. The facility was very nice, very clean, and very well-kept. They had activities going on all the time. But I think for my uncle with the rehab, they tried to keep him moving and try to keep him doing what he needed to do. They were very welcoming, too. They cared about him, what was going on with him, and what the path was that we were going to be taking. They were very kind people. The rooms were beautiful. I know they have different sections, but the section that my uncle was in was very nice."

"Southfield Village was very clean and roomy. They were doing an activity when we were there and they had an activities director that was doing it. It was very organized, except they only had a room on the second floor, and that was a no-no for my mom, but it was very nice and the people were friendly."

The managers are very informative and kept our family updated throughout the process while my dad was in rehab. Building is outdated but it isn't always about the bells and whistles!"
