My wife stayed at Majestic Care of South Bend for four days, for respite. The experience was good. My wife's room was clean. They took care of my wife. The staff was about average. There were some good foods, and some were not so good. The atmosphere was OK. The people were all nice. They give you what you're asking for. They didn't keep my wife in her room all the time because she likes to talk to other people, so that can be good or bad. Even though they have an activity room that they showed me, my wife just wandered around or watched TV in her room. I didn't see any activity. This place was a lot closer and easier to get to. The facility was really clean and looked new. It has nice grounds. The people seemed to be OK and nice.

We toured Majestic Care of South Bend. They were not good. The residents looked very unkempt. It smelled bad pretty much everywhere you go. It was kind of an obtrusive odor of a combination of B.O. and pee, so it was not good. The rooms looked like they just needed a good, fresh coat of paint and a little fixture in there, but it looked very rundown on the inside. The outside was gorgeous, but the inside did not look good. The staff member that gave me the tour was pleasant enough, and all the staff that I saw seemed to be pleasant, too.
Huge Disappointment

This place was horrible. At least 90% of the staff is from a nursing agency because they can't keep good help. The agency people didn't know me and changed on a whim. The rooms are nice in the pictures but after I got there no one would change my sheets, empty the trash, or clean off my table over the bed. A shower was out of the question. The workers made me feel like I was bother if I asked for anything, even a glass of ice water. I missed my doctors appointment because I was not given a ride. The workers tried hard but there is not enough of them and they are pitifully short staffed. It was disappointing enough that I wrote this review and I will never go back.

Signature of South Bend was pretty nice. The rooms were a little older as far as general appearance was concerned. The facility had been around for a while. The staff was fine. They were helpful and answered my questions. The food was decent and not bad.

My grandmother was a resident of Regency Place for four years. The quality of care went up and down. It wasn't great from the beginning and at times was negligent enough that I was extremely concerned for my grandmother's safety. She became incontinent about a year after being admitted. For a time her diapers were not being changed regularly. I don't know how often they were changed but judging by the amount of feces I cleaned off of her and from her bed it couldn't have been more than once a day. After I reported them to the sate (they had several complaints at the time) her care improved for a while. The staff was mostly friendly and seemed to want to do well by the patients but they were too thinly spread. I never met a doctor, administrator or social worker during the years my grandmother lived there. Most of my visits were on weekends but it still seems like a joint rehab center and nursing home should have an MD available.I feel a great deal of guilt for not being able to protect my grandmother from the poor care she received at the end of her life. She didn't have money so Regency Place was the best we could get her into. It was not a good way to die.

Regency Place was a superb home for seniors. The staff was very friendly, helping residents in a swift and caring manner. They took the effort to make the experience of residents a pleasant one, and to make visits by family amiable. They even took the time to try to have a personal relationship with the residents and their families. If there were questions or concerns by residents or their family, they were listened to and taken care of in a very professional and thoughtful manner. There were always events planned for the residents to participate in, from holiday parties to bingo games. The facility was also clean as compared to other facilities my family has visited. Staff and volunteers made sure to make the environment clean and healthy for the residents. There were also professional dietitians and nurses on the premises to make sure that all health related issues with the residents and/or their diets were attended to.

My grandmother was a resident at the Regency Place. The staff was very friendly and helpful in meeting needs of their residents. They were very good about making sure to meet each individual residents' needs, and in a prompt matter. If there were problems with residents, they would take the time to hear them out and take care of any issues at hand. Some of the staff members even got to know some family members of the residents. On top of a friendly staff, they had a fairly clean environment and a lot of fun activities for the residents to participate in.
