When my grandmother needed to move to an assisted living facility, I wanted to look at the larger more poplar facilities but my mom was told of a new home that was a home and not an institution. I was very skeptical but agreed to meet with the owners, Kirt and Meko. Once I met them and we talked and I saw how they interacted with my grandmother, I change my mind and was excited for her to move into Special Touch Living as their first resident in Huntersville. I went to visit regularly and was so glad that we found Special Touch Living. They allowed her to live as if she was at home. They helped her plant and water flowers in the the yard, allowed her to sweep the porches, clip coupons, do arts and crafts and allowed us to bring her prized collection of cowboy and Shirley Temple movies to share. My grandmother was not the easiest resident to have in your home. However, Kirt and Meko always seemed to know how to get her to do what she needed/refused to do. When my grandmother finally had to be moved to a hospice facility, about a year after moving to Special Touch, we were lucky to find one very close to Special Touch and Kirt and/or Meko went to visit her every day until she passed away in November 2016. I know that Kirt and Meko and the staff at Special Touch made her last days, happy days and for that me and my family are very grateful.

My sister and I knew that mother needed some place to help her out, but she was very pulled back from the idea of a very large facility. Finding a smaller setting at Special Touch Living has worked out very well for her. It's a home with just a few residents. She's got a nice little bedroom that we set up. We brought her rocking chair so she'd feel comfortable with it. They cook her meals but sometimes she gets a little frustrated because she wants to cook. We've been very pleased with Kurt and Mico. They take the time to talk and share with my mom and work very well with her. Mico has even taken her shopping, to the groceries and CVS. I know that this is a place where my mother feels at home. There were some issues but I am still very pleased. A couple of times mom fell. They took her to the urgent care or called the ambulance. When they have certain restrictions on things, they'll explain to me why things are a certain way. They're very astute to the different regulations to follow which is a good thing when dealing a small place. Everything's been nice.

My brothers and I can't say enough wonderful things about Special Touch Living and the care they provide to my mother. One of the toughest decisions we make is who we entrust with caring for our aging parents. Add dementia into the mix - and it takes a special home with special love for our loved ones. Meko and Kirt do all that they can to make the transition for your loved one and day to day living special. It is a home environment which makes the residents feel similar to their own homes. There are wonderful activities that they participate in the area as well as at home. They get mental stimulation as well as activity. They get individualized attention and care from Meko, Kirt and their staff. The residents are provided wonderful meals and living arrangements that are cheerful and not institutionalized. We feel so blessed to have found two such caring individuals that provide our Mom a home where she is safe, cared for, and above all loved - especially when we can't be there all the time! I can't recommend Special Touch Living highly enough! Many Many thanks to the Eures!! This residence truly is a "Special Touch!"

I’m very well pleased with the care Special Touch Living gives my mother. It's not far from me so I try to go there frequently. It’s a small place so they get more and better attention. My mother is very picky with what she eats but she eats quite well there. They take her to her church too. Mother just loves Mico and Kurt. She's always bragging and complementing them. I thank the world for both of them. I’m just glad that she is in a place instead of a facility. It's like family home. Everybody eats together at the table and watches TV altogether. I feel very lucky to have somebody that is good as they are and somebody that I trust.

Special Touch Living's location is very nice. It's in a neighborhood, so the residents don't feel like they're in some type of institution. It's very quiet and very peaceful. They have outdoor areas, front porch, and they also have a nice back patio where they can go outside. It's very clean. Mico and Kurt, the owners, were fabulous. I was the POA of the resident, and I was always in the loop of what was going on with my friend. I appreciate that very much. They have to go right by the book of what the doctor says, and that can be frustrating sometimes because they have to have a script for everything. But it's really for the residents' safety, so that's a good thing. I always felt that my loved one was in good care when she was there, so I rate it very high. I like both Mico and Kurt very much. The residents there are treated with respect and the decency that they deserve in their later years. It's more than just an institution. They also coordinate with PT and OT that come in to work. I was very pleased. They were very open to any time I wanted to come in and visit, but I always call just to make sure that PT or OT wasn’t there. The communication was excellent between me and the facility. My loved one has been at other facility where the communication wasn't there, so I appreciate being kept abreast of everything that was going on at the home.
