My mom is staying at Cadence Mint Hill. We're very happy with it. They take good care of my mom. They check on her throughout the day and night. My mom is wheelchair-bound, and they get her up and do things with her. They're doing the best they can. She's towards the end of the line, but she's doing okay. There are always activities. They have people come in. Every holiday, they decorate. They have hair-cutting and nail-cutting services there. Everybody seems very happy and friendly. All the patients talk to us, and they think the place is great, so we can't complain about anything. Everything seems to be nice. The staff members are top-notch people. If they find that my mother has a problem with something, they call us and let us know. They keep us updated. The cleaning staff comes in and cleans her room and bathroom. Everybody is very friendly and helpful towards my mom. So I can't say anything negative about them. The food looks great. The price just recently increased, but it's very doable.

I toured Cadence Mint Hill, and I wasn't impressed with it. The people that were there were just kind of stuck in a room. They were out in a room, and maybe they were just put there to sit and wait, but not engaged with anybody. The outside was very nice. Inside, I just wasn't so happy with it. It smelled of urine in there. The staff who toured me was very good. She was very detailed in her descriptions and information, and she seemed well knowledgeable of their procedures and what they had to offer. They said they had activities, and they had the beauty there and stuff like that, but I didn't see any of that going on. The staff that I talked to didn't seem very engaged in making conversation. The outside was very nice and welcoming, but inside where the residents were felt like it could use some upgrades.

We went to Cadence Senior Living at Mint Hill and met Elizabeth. She showed us some rooms, the activity room, the dining room, and the hair salon they got. It was very nice. I saw one with two beds in it and she said you could also turn it into a single room, instead of having two people in there. The room was good and the bathroom was big with grab bars that you could hold onto. They have a room for activities and a sitting room where you can visit with families. She walked us out to this covered outside area where you can do some walks. The menu looked good too.

I would not recommend Cadence Senior Living. My father was her for a total of 2 months and spent most of that time confined his room. He lost close to 20lbs in that short timeframe and we were only allowed video visits due to covid restrictions with limited sign up options for fully time employees who work lengthy hours during the week. The room consisted of a bed, bathroom and fridge. There were windows that were never drawn. Activities are offered but given covid restrictions, they were minimal. Patients were brought trays to their rooms. I am very glad he is no longer at this facility. The staff communication is lacking. They did not connect very well which made it difficult to get updates. The weekend staff is light so visitation is extremely limited.

I've been to the Cadence Senior Living at Mint Hill twice. I've tasted their food and even went there before Christmas. I pass by it a few times a day because it's in my town. It's close to my home and I can almost ride a bike there. My mother's home is over two hours from me, so I want her to be somewhat closer. It is a new facility, around 3 years old, and it's not very big. They only have less than 50 residents. They also had a great price. It wasn't necessarily the lowest, but everything just worked out for me. They had availability and the facilities were all brand new. Yesterday, when we went to taste the food, the staff told me that everybody there had gotten their first COVID shot, and that the people are coming back in a couple of weeks for the second. I like the fact that they are on top of things. You couldn't really tour the facility because of COVID, but my mother liked it and she enjoyed the food. I told the woman last night, "You folks are doing a really good job of following up everybody who needs information." Also, it just so happen that it's the one that I have seen, passed by all the time, and the one that my mother liked, so we're gonna go ahead and move forward. My mother is a retired nurse, so it has a lot to do with the feeling that we get from them and how professional they are as well. Everybody was professional, respectful of our time and was nice. My mother liked the food. She said that it had a good taste to it.

I could not be more pleased with Carillon Assisted Living Mint Hill. It has a homey atmosphere, it's not like a skilled nursing facility. Everybody seems like they care, and they eat together as a group. My mom is in the memory care and they're on a strict schedule, which I think they need to be. I can't say one bad thing about it. It's neat and clean, and you never smell it because it's well-kept. They act and treat her like they love her. She has nice furniture in her room. I wish her bed could be rolled up, but they just don't want them to be restricted. They have bingo and they do a lot of things, like anytime there's anything special they do a dinner or lunch and have family come in, they take the residents out for ice, and so on. They have a new cook and I've heard complaints about the food, but I've tasted it and I could eat it. The price is just the same as most of them.

I chose Carillon for my mom, and everything is going well. They have puzzles, memory games, and motor skill exercises. They have an outdoor area, a garden, and a lake. Her room is comfortable and clean.
