"Generally, I really liked what I saw in Brookdale South Charlotte. The Alzheimer's area consisted of a small group, but had lots of activities. Most of the people were gathered around the central table in the dining area making pizza crackers. The residents and attendants all seemed to be having a good time. In a separate small social area, a resident was visiting with family or friends. It was definitely very clean. They were able to answer the questions that I had at that time. It was a very nice place. "

"I like the flexibility. You can stay there 30 days after a hospital. They had private rooms and things of that nature, and it seems like the care is quality. They have different room sizes for the different requirements of the folks that are staying there. It was a brief stay, but we did tour the kitchen area and the dining area. They also had a couple areas were you could do group activities, and it was nice. The whole place is clean. The staff seemed to be courteous and knowledgeable. They also seemed to be helpful. "

"I visited this facility with a friend who was seeking care for her elderly father. It's a really pretty facility, located in a gorgeous and convenient part of Charlotte. The atmosphere upon entering the facility was great. It was neat and clean, without odors. The reception staff and admissions staff we spoke with were extremely friendly and several members of nursing smiled and said hello as we walked through. The atmosphere of this facility was further enhanced by some lovely piano music and I also saw several residents participating in a group activity. The grounds were also lovely and well manicured, with plenty of outdoor space for residents to enjoy. My friend and I toured the memory unit and really liked that, though it was a locked and secure unit, it didn't feel like a locked and secure unit. The hallways were in an atrium like setting, allowing for plenty of natural sunlight and giving almost an outdoor feel to the area. I did see a couple of residents wandering the halls but they looked happy and not lost. I also saw one staff assist a resident in a very respectable way when she appeared to be looking for her room. It was nice to see the staff offer assistance but still respect the resident at that individual's greatest level of independence. That is something I think is lacking in some other memory units. Ultimately, I would have to say that I would highly recommend this facility. It has a great atmosphere, friendly staff, and good amenities to allow for a more home like feel. "

"What I liked about Charter Senior Living of Charlotte was the proximity to the hospital. They had a program there where it was assisted living but with a higher staff-to-resident ratio. It was explained to me that there were five residents in the intensified assisted living, along with two staff members and a full-time nurse, 24 hours a day. It was a little more expensive, but the amount of attention the resident would get would be considerably more than what normal assisted living was like."

"My father was not the most cooperative resident. We had used a larger facility for 6 years and, when the level of care declined, we found the Post at Mint Hill. It was absolutely the RIGHT CHOICE. Private room, extremely clean, home cooked meals, a smaller staff to resident ratio, easy access for family members 24/7, a great residential setting with room to sit outside or go for a stroll. On top of this their staff was phenomenal, patient, and caring. You can't go wrong with this choice for your loved one!"

"The staff at Brighton Gardens of Charlotte was very professional. I was impressed with the whole facility and the cleanliness of it. That would've been a nice place for my sister to be. We were shown several rooms, and they were all nice. There was a smaller one and then a two-bedroom that she probably would've been in. It looked like they had a lot of things planned for the residents there. Everybody was just very friendly, even some of the residents that I talked to. When we were touring, they were finishing up with lunch. It smelled wonderful. I think they had chicken potpie. It was a real good experience."

"The only one I would be happy to go to would be Summit Place. The atmosphere was beautiful. It smells good when you go in. The Summit Place was really nice with all the facilities there. My wife and I talked to the staff and the lady who was in charge of the cafeteria, Cassandra, she showed us around to a couple of apartments. We stayed there and ate lunch, and the food was wonderful. The rooms were adequate. I liked the whole facility especially the part that was attached to it, the memory care part. "

"My mom was in here for a short time, but they felt like they could not fulfill her needs, because I just did not think they had the equipment or the personnel to take care of her. However, it was a very nice place. She was there only for a very short time, so she did not get involved in a lot of activities. The food was good. "

"CoHome owners are very responsive and family oriented. Each time we visited the home it was always very clean and the sample food was DELICIOUS! The only reason we did not place our dad there, was because of the Coronavirus pandemic. Will reconsider after things are more stabilized in regard to the pandemic. "

"I had a nice tour of Dilack Home. I like the atmosphere. The only thing they had was the available apartment suite, which was not within my budget, so I couldn't do that. Mom would have one bedroom that was pretty large. It was furnished and had a bed and your use of closet. In the apartment homes, they had their own little kitchenettes, which my mother did not need because she had dementia. The staff who gave the tour was very nice and very informative."

"My uncle and aunt moved into The Blake at Edgewater. We chose it because of locality, and they handle memory care. Most places in North Carolina would not allow my aunt who is a dementia patient and my uncle who has no problems at 95 years old to be in the same room or unit together, but in South Carolina, that is allowed. The food I had was fantastic. The staff I've met all seemed to be sharp. They cook all his meals. They have a big wide screen TV and they play all kinds of games on the TV and do exercises and anything to occupy them. My uncle takes my aunt out of their room and go downstairs and put her in the memory care room. There were 17 people in the memory care room doing games and activities. The chef was great, and my uncle is eating well. The price is very reasonable."
