I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I have to give this a one Star because of poor turn over rate with staff which is not healthy for the residents. And major neglect due to residents sitting in urine and feces for hours. Please do not send your loved ones here it's horrible.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother is a long-term resident of Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center, having moved into skilled nursing there nearly four years ago. Without a doubt, Daughters of Sarah is an absolutely wonderful place for my mother during this stage of her life. All residents have single private rooms with bathrooms, which is significant. For my mother, it's meant that she's comfortable in her own space and in her day-to-day life there. But without a doubt, the best part of Daughters of Sarah is the staff itself. During my visits, I'm always struck by how each and every employee I see is dedicated to providing excellent nursing care in a welcoming, comfortable environment. For over four years, the nursing staff has managed my mother's medical issues exceptionally well, while the care aides, social workers, and recreational staff always give her the hands-on care she needs and treat her with respect and kindness. As a family member, I breathe easy knowing that my mother has and will continue to receive exceptional care at Daughters of Sarah.

My mom is currently in Daughters of Sarah Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and it is an excellent place. It is very clean. The rehab department is excellent. The staff is great and very friendly, even the receptionist. The dining room is very nice, too. They serve restaurant style, and the food is very good.

My father was at Daughters of Sarah for rehab earlier this year. All of the staff, from reception to housekeeping, to nurses, and other care staff were wonderful. They took the time to know my dad - what he liked and disliked, and how he liked to be approached. They engaged him in many activities and he felt good about his time there. Meals are served community-style in a dining room and he became friendly with two other men at his table. His physical and occupational therapy sessions were excellent. He left walking better than he had been for years. All in all, a 5-star experience for this family.

Daughters of Sarah Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is beautiful. Their rehab is fantastic and they have done a great job. The food is so-so, depending on what you order, and nights can be a little tough. Some of the night nurses have been kind of rude, but that's all right. The aides are the ones who are fantastic. My mom is in a private room with her own bathroom. She's had some sponge baths, but I wish that they had brought her into the shower. They have several courtyards and a synagogue where they offer Jewish services on Fridays. The rabbi is wonderful and has stopped by to visit her for several days, which has been awesome. They were also having some kind of a musical event in one of the communal rooms here. They allow families in and I've been able to bring her some snacks. She's gotten really good care here. I think this place is a lot better than some other places that we've seen and another place that she was at. We're pretty happy with the care and I would recommend their rehab.

My father-in-law was in rehab at Daughters of Sarah. He has been in and out of care at a number of places and this was by far his best experience. The nurses and other caretakers really got to know him and by the end of his stay (he was there for 2 months) they knew all of his jokes and songs. Even the kitchen staff knew his likes and dislikes and preferences. The rehab he received was excellent and he is walking better than he has in several years. It seems there are activities all the time and he enjoyed the music and performers who came. I was really struck buy how friendly and helpful the entire staff is. Smiling faces at reception. People waiting to open doors for you. I would have no hesitation in sending him back should he need more care.

My husband is in Daughters of Sarah Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. He is getting every support there is. He's got excellent care, he was getting physical therapy when he could do it, occupational therapy, speech therapy, doctor visits, and excellent nursing care and excellent staff, and that's way up, in my estimation. He's now very sick. He has pneumonia, he's very sick and they've been wonderful. They were calling me with every change. I said, I want to know, if there's anything they would call me, every time something has changed, and they're so attentive to him and good. He's never alone. When I'm there, I'm in his room with him. And when I left, they put him in an area with the nurses, where they could see him and watch him. The menus sound great. Till now, my husband was eating well and enjoying the food. Now he doesn't eat much at all anymore. They have several units and apparently, the staff does not go to other units in the building. They say it's the same stuff all the time with their people. Their own people stay in that unit. So there's very little cross-contamination. They had one COVID case a few weeks ago and it was confined to that case and everybody else was tested negative in the unit and the staff was tested negative in the unit. My husband has enjoyed the food. I've had stuff in the cafeteria and it was okay and it was OK. The other day I wanted a sandwich and it was made to order for me, what I wanted on it. It's good. They have the menu posted for every day in the whole new dining area, and the menus sound interesting. One day he had a choice of sweet and sour brisket or roast chicken. Now he's eating finely chopped food, but can't swallow, but they tried to make veal stew yesterday, which he would normally love, and they came and fed him. The dining room was cheerful, table for four. If necessary, they'll bring food to the room, to the patient, and somebody to feed him. They have feeders. They're hiring upper high school and college-level students to act as feeders, like training them to feed old people. They always have a list of activities on the whiteboard every day that they do, they have sing-alongs. They've had people come and entertain in the large common area, a piano player. They had a New Year's Eve party during the day and they were all wearing hats. And yesterday, they had a couple of professional dancers there, and some of the staff were dancing with some of the residents in wheelchairs or propped up. Lots of things are going on there. The TVs in the common room programs, they're very good.
