"My mom is a resident of Shaker Place Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. It's very clean. The staff is very dedicated. Everyone tries to help you, the social workers, everybody. The doctors are excellent. Everybody's understaffed, but they do the most. My mom has a very dedicated aide who takes care of her. I was not expecting it to be as nice as it is."

"I'm in Delmar Rehab right now. I have been very happy, and I have never had any real problem here. They're very understanding. I have had occupational as well as physical therapy, and they are very conscious of it. I have gained a lot of weight over the last few years, and I have lost a lot of weight since I have been here, so as far as I'm concerned, they're very good. I think the staff is very good. The physical therapy is outstanding. They're very caring and very understanding, and they're good listeners, too. If you have any problems -- pain or anything -- they're right on top of it. If I feel like I'm hungry, I can get a sandwich, cookies, or something. I did a lot of my rehab in the room because of COVID, and they wouldn't let you into the hallways. Last month, since COVID is not in the building anymore, they opened the gym, and they have chairs, bicycles, and other exercise things in there, so if you are able to, they will get you on the bike. I also started to be able to walk in the hallways as long as I wear my mask. They're very, very good. Now that the weather is nice, I have seen people outside, and they are able to walk around the building."

"My husband is in Daughters of Sarah Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. He is getting every support there is. He's got excellent care, he was getting physical therapy when he could do it, occupational therapy, speech therapy, doctor visits, and excellent nursing care and excellent staff, and that's way up, in my estimation. He's now very sick. He has pneumonia, he's very sick and they've been wonderful. They were calling me with every change. I said, I want to know, if there's anything they would call me, every time something has changed, and they're so attentive to him and good. He's never alone. When I'm there, I'm in his room with him. And when I left, they put him in an area with the nurses, where they could see him and watch him. The menus sound great. Till now, my husband was eating well and enjoying the food. Now he doesn't eat much at all anymore. They have several units and apparently, the staff does not go to other units in the building. They say it's the same stuff all the time with their people. Their own people stay in that unit. So there's very little cross-contamination. They had one COVID case a few weeks ago and it was confined to that case and everybody else was tested negative in the unit and the staff was tested negative in the unit. My husband has enjoyed the food. I've had stuff in the cafeteria and it was okay and it was OK. The other day I wanted a sandwich and it was made to order for me, what I wanted on it. It's good. They have the menu posted for every day in the whole new dining area, and the menus sound interesting. One day he had a choice of sweet and sour brisket or roast chicken. Now he's eating finely chopped food, but can't swallow, but they tried to make veal stew yesterday, which he would normally love, and they came and fed him. The dining room was cheerful, table for four. If necessary, they'll bring food to the room, to the patient, and somebody to feed him. They have feeders. They're hiring upper high school and college-level students to act as feeders, like training them to feed old people. They always have a list of activities on the whiteboard every day that they do, they have sing-alongs. They've had people come and entertain in the large common area, a piano player. They had a New Year's Eve party during the day and they were all wearing hats. And yesterday, they had a couple of professional dancers there, and some of the staff were dancing with some of the residents in wheelchairs or propped up. Lots of things are going on there. The TVs in the common room programs, they're very good."

"My wife was a resident of The Massry Residence at Daughters of Sarah Senior Community. They were very welcoming. It was good for our family because of the sense of Jewish community. Everyone is very professional and is willing to do everything. My wife said the food was fine. The place feels very, very friendly, safe, and warm. They have movie nights and a couple of Jewish-specific events, which were also nice for my wife."

"I placed my husband at Teresian House. It is run by the Catholic church. It is wonderful. All of the rooms are individual. There are no two people in a room. It is very well set-up. They have a huge dinner. All of the staff is wonderful. There is a chapel there, and they have mass all the time. My husband has just moved in a couple of days ago, but everything is wonderful so far. They have all kinds of activities, e.g., physical therapy, occupational therapy, and exercises. "

"My.Mom was here for a month and the staff treated her like royalty. Very accessible to family and dogs to visit. Food was excellent and we were able to eat with her for a very low price. We highly recommend Schuyler Ridge. "

"My husband was at Kingsway nursing home. I found them to be very good, as a matter of fact. They seemed to take very good care of my husband. I moved close by so I could see him more often so I was there a lot. The staff was awfully good and they had a couple of men on the staff and they were very good with my husband. When he first went in, he could still talk and he had a lot of stories to tell them and they were very interested so he had a good time there. It wasn't a bad place for him. They were very kind to me and I spent a lot of time, sometimes around dinner time. The only day when I smelled any smell at all was on a Sunday when the staff was really low. I'm in and out of there a lot so most of the time it was very well kept. "

"My husbands grandfather went to this facility. They took good care of him but the food was not the best. He didn't eat that well there. The staff were mostly friendly. I noticed one of them was not very helpful. And a little rude.My husbands grandfather went there because he fell off two steps and hurt part of his body. He needed to go there so he could walk again. He was too injured to walk without a wheel chair. He could not stay at home. Because he needed someone always there to help him. So that is why he had to go here. The staff at The Dutch Manor made sure he was able to walk on his own before he was released back home. He started to like it so much he almost refused to leave. He liked people always being there for him. And I think he was afraid of falling again. But the staff there gave him confidence he could walk and care for himself parts of the day at his home. He does have someone at his home that visits and feeds him. "

"The weekend and night staff seem to have attitude about how they treat family and residents. The room is a typical nursing home room not at all as indicated on the web site. Physical therapy is only on weekdays. Again not 7 days a week as claimed. I have been rudely treated 3 times with no direct answers to questions. The administration staff act bothered by the fact that you don't agree to everything they want without more information. There was no communication between day & night staff regarding care. My relative is improving slowly, but got no help with therapy for first four days. "

"I'm at The Grand Rehabilitation & Nursing At Guilderland in Altamont, and I like the rehab here. The physical and occupational therapy is great. They come, and they make sure you work out every day. You get your exercise in every day, and if you don't come down to the physical therapy gym, they'll get you, and I like that. Sometimes I forget, and they make sure I don't forget. I needed a lot of rehab since I've been here. I became an amputee for the first time, and they're teaching me how to walk with my new prosthetic legs. They don't give up at all. You get very close to these people because you see them all the time. They give you breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food is average, so it's not great, but it's not bad. Their staff is nice to you. I've never had a problem with anyone here. They are very professional and very helpful. Every holiday, they decorate really well. For instance, if it's Christmas, there are decorations everywhere you look, like on the wall and the ceiling. You even see balloons in some places. It's really nice the way they have it decorated, I like that. It puts me in the mood for the season, because in Florida, they don't have the seasons like the day they do up here."

"My mom had come out of the Ellis Hospital and had gone over to Sunnyview because she had a hip replacement. She needed physical therapy at that time. We wanted her to have a few more weeks of therapy, but they seemed to be in a hurry to get her out or get her turned over, I don't know. I wished she had stayed there longer because she was making really good progress. She had been there for about a month. Their service was excellent. She was always going on with her physical and occupational therapy. She was always on the move. People were in and out of her room. "

"My MIL has received horrendous "care" at the Ellis Nursing home, severe bedsore requiring specialized wound care, tray left without attempts to feed her, not given medications as ordered by Hospice and the social worker and director of nursing ignore concerns of relatives who visit. I would tell anyone NEVER to place a loved one in this facility. "
