"The staff here is always extremely friendly. We were looking for a home that dealt specifically with Alzheimer's care for my grandfather, who has progressed beyond the point of us being able to care for him. I was initially impressed with the look of the facilities; it looked more like a nice hotel or apartment complex than a retirement home and assisted living facility. Their Alzheimer's care units are among some of the best I have ever heard from; they have a layout with allows for those afflicted with the disease to easily navigate the building, with a small suite being a private space, which adjoins with a shared area/kitchen. I spoke with some of the residents there, who all said they were extremely happy with the care, the staff, and the community. It is also right next to the town library, which is really great. My grandfather seems to be happier here than I could have thought given the circumstances, and we are grateful to have an option like that in the area. "

"The Spinney at Pond View is excellent. My only complaint is that the rent goes up so much every year. They have a clubhouse here and activities. I love my apartment. I love the fact that my garage is attached to my apartment. They call these cottages. It's like six cottages all put together, like mine is. I like the fact that I get a break on my internet, phone, and television. I only pay $53 a month for that. People go down and do chair yoga, different games, and activities. So, the staff is involved with the people. If there's a need for maintenance, they're here within a day. I wouldn't call the facility huge because a couple of times I went down there, they only had two end chairs and a sofa in front of the fireplace. I think only seven or six people can sit down with those, but then the dining area probably has at least twelve tables, and there are six chairs around each table. So, that's pretty good. There are a lot of people who go down for the activities, and they seem to be happy. It is worth what they want you to pay, but if I could get something similar for less money, I might do that."

"We have chosen the Summit At Eastwyck. It's not available until mid-July, but they were wonderful and nice. I chose this older place just because of the ambience and the location. There are a lot of wooded areas. I like the grounds, the location, and the people who live there. The staff was wonderful. There was a birthday party that day, so I ate some ice cream with them."

"Delmar Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing was very pleasant and the surroundings were very nice. The rooms were very nice and the people were very accommodating. The person that showed us around and the admissions office was very good and very helpful. The dining room was also nice. The only problem was it would have to be self-pay and we couldn't do that. So, that was the only setback."

"My wife and I have lived at Avila for the past two years. We are enjoying immensely this experience and our choice to join this community. The dining, housekeeping, and maintenance staff are most helpful and supportive. "I toured Beverwyck. It's a multi-level of care. It's a very nice campus. I wasn't able to see any of the actual living spaces. I just viewed floor plans, but I did have an opportunity to walk around the building, and it was very nice. They told me all of the options for the rooms, but they're all occupied, so they weren't able to allow me in. The staff was very friendly, very informative. They have lots to offer. They have a library, a gym, a swimming pool, crafts, happy hour, and town hall meetings. They have everything you need."

"My father moved into the Terrace at Beverwyck over the weekend. We chose it for its features, its amenities, and its value. Also, it's a non-profit community. It's lovely; it's like a 5-star hotel. It's beautiful, clean, bright and tastefully decorated. It's the right kind of environment for elderly people who can't or don't want to live alone anymore. Everybody that lives there look happy and healthy."

"I am a resident of The Spinney at Van Dyke. I like the apartment setups. They are all like one floor, cottage style, no elevators, none of that stuff. The front and back, it's nice and comfortable. They have a lot of programs, but I'm not really into that. They have a small gym, a clubhouse, and a swimming pool. The maintenance is very nice. Everything is very pleasant. If something goes wrong you just call the office and somebody comes over and takes care of it. The problem is that it is very expensive and it's very hard to be living on a fixed income and live here. So, far as that goes, the rent is high."

"I am moving into King Thiel Senior Community. There's a lot of people around and they're not like old, old people. They're all around my age. The apartment itself is brand new and it's beautiful. It's really nice. It's perfect for me. I like the atmosphere and the people. The only thing that I'm not crazy about is I wanted something with a private entrance, and I don't have that, but that's okay. I'm kind of realizing this isn't going to be such a big deal to me. I also like that it's in Latham because that's where my kids are. The appliances are all brand new. There's a refrigerator, dishwasher, and washer and dryer. I have a huge, huge walk-in closet. It's probably as big as one of my smaller bedrooms. There's a storage unit, too. You pay $15 a month for it. It's almost right across the hallway from where my room is going to be and I'm at the end of the apartment, which is good. There are two bedrooms. They're not huge, but they're good-sized bedrooms. I can get a queen-sized bed with no problem. There are sliding glass doors in the living room and I'm on the third floor. When you look out, you can see deer running around. It's pretty nice. They've gone out of their way for me. They have been great. They also have, I think, three days a week when you can get lunch there for like $3 or something. So if somebody isn't in the mood to cook, they can get it. It's also a time when you can associate with other people. The staff was excellent. She was very, very good. Her name is Rachel. They went in and clean my apartment already so it's spick-and-span. It's really nice. Rachel was even concerned and she said that the refrigerator tilts a little. So she's been on their case and got them to take care of that. So it's like they're right on top of everything. The building itself is only three months old. The first one is in 17, and I'll be in 11. It's in a great area, too. The only thing is you have to definitely put your name on a waiting list. I was lucky that mine came up right away."

"We've visited several places and Shaker Point at Carondelet has become our choice. It's very, very self-contained with a lot of activities, but it's pricey. The rooms have all sizes, but they tend to be rather large and airy. The food was very good. We only met the staff members that were showing us around. They have physical fitness type activities, they have a swimming pool, and they have a calendar of events that they show, including movies, operas, and get-togethers. The room was spacious, we saw a two-bedroom, two-bath apartment."

"We are very impressed with Beechwood at Eddy Memorial. It is very good, and the people are very friendly. In fact, I put a deposit down for a potential unit that we looked at. We had a meal there, and it was excellent. The layout and cleanliness was very good."

"Terrace At Eddy Memorial was very pleasant. It was not as up-to-date as the other place. It was a little outdated, but it was certainly clean enough. The room was bigger. The lady that I dealt there with was excellent."

"The visit to this facility was for a Halloween fundraiser. The staff impressed us with their greeting as we entered the building. They were very courteous. They were helpful in showing us the facility. We took frequent breaks on the tour and listened to the history of the building, the daily activities that are planned, and the creative opportunities for the residents to be a part of. The tour was brief as were there for the Halloween fundraiser. The facilities were very clean. The food was delicious and plentiful. We were very satisfied with the food options and no one left hungry. There was a Halloween contest that rated the costumes of the attendants. It was very fun for everyone involved. As part of the festivities there was a magician. He put on a great show, incorporating the crowd into his tricks. For dessert we had cake. It was decorated with the Halloween theme. "
