"We are very impressed with Beechwood at Eddy Memorial. It is very good, and the people are very friendly. In fact, I put a deposit down for a potential unit that we looked at. We had a meal there, and it was excellent. The layout and cleanliness was very good."

"We've visited several places and Shaker Point at Carondelet has become our choice. It's very, very self-contained with a lot of activities, but it's pricey. The rooms have all sizes, but they tend to be rather large and airy. The food was very good. We only met the staff members that were showing us around. They have physical fitness type activities, they have a swimming pool, and they have a calendar of events that they show, including movies, operas, and get-togethers. The room was spacious, we saw a two-bedroom, two-bath apartment."

"I am moving into King Thiel Senior Community. There's a lot of people around and they're not like old, old people. They're all around my age. The apartment itself is brand new and it's beautiful. It's really nice. It's perfect for me. I like the atmosphere and the people. The only thing that I'm not crazy about is I wanted something with a private entrance, and I don't have that, but that's okay. I'm kind of realizing this isn't going to be such a big deal to me. I also like that it's in Latham because that's where my kids are. The appliances are all brand new. There's a refrigerator, dishwasher, and washer and dryer. I have a huge, huge walk-in closet. It's probably as big as one of my smaller bedrooms. There's a storage unit, too. You pay $15 a month for it. It's almost right across the hallway from where my room is going to be and I'm at the end of the apartment, which is good. There are two bedrooms. They're not huge, but they're good-sized bedrooms. I can get a queen-sized bed with no problem. There are sliding glass doors in the living room and I'm on the third floor. When you look out, you can see deer running around. It's pretty nice. They've gone out of their way for me. They have been great. They also have, I think, three days a week when you can get lunch there for like $3 or something. So if somebody isn't in the mood to cook, they can get it. It's also a time when you can associate with other people. The staff was excellent. She was very, very good. Her name is Rachel. They went in and clean my apartment already so it's spick-and-span. It's really nice. Rachel was even concerned and she said that the refrigerator tilts a little. So she's been on their case and got them to take care of that. So it's like they're right on top of everything. The building itself is only three months old. The first one is in 17, and I'll be in 11. It's in a great area, too. The only thing is you have to definitely put your name on a waiting list. I was lucky that mine came up right away."

"Hearthstone Village was very nice. I would move there if they had a place available, and it's a little less expensive. The apartments were lovely. We toured the two-bedroom and it was nice, and good sized, and had a nice setup. The staff was very nice, very helpful, and very informative. They have an indoor pool. They've got activities going on. They have transportation services if need be. It's very clean and very nice. The outdoor space was nice. They have a nice property and nice lawns and stuff."

"The gal that took us around Summit At Eastwyck, Kelly, was extremely knowledgeable and very personable. She made us feel right at home. She knew the other residents by first name, calling them by my first name, and got some interventions with them while we were there. I thought that was great, because a lot of times people that you talk to first, you never see again, but she knows her residents there and I think that's very important for people that would want to live there. Some of them come in for an interview and then that's the last they ever see of that person and they're on their own from then, but not there. She knew what they enjoyed doing. Somebody came in and knocked on the door at the office and she took what they wanted to do and it had something to do with an activity. That was a nice feeling. We weren't able to look at an apartment because there were no vacancies, but Kelly feels there is one coming up and we're going to touch base with her again and then to see one of the apartments. The other thing I liked about it was when we got to drive around the community, we could see the open garages and they looked like they were fairly good-sized garages. The place was also beautiful and the common areas were gorgeous. There were lots and lots of activities. I think that would be something that people would want. The views are lovely. Some better than others, of course, but I think if you go up to the third floor (three's three stories), I don't think there could be a bad view. It's just a very, very nicely laid out area."

"I visited the independent living community of The Beltrone Living Center. I have also applied and will be moving there. It's run by the town of Colonie, and it's very nice. They've been in operation for 25 years. They have suites, and I've put in for a 2-bedroom suite with two bathrooms in the penthouse with a balcony. The living area is much bigger, and the closets are bigger, too. It's next door to a very large park, so I can walk to it with no traffic. I can just walk out the door and go. The staff members were very nice. I was very pleased with them. They have beautiful facilities that are more in line with what I would use. They have a pantry, and that appealed to me because I do a lot of cooking and baking. There's also a very big public library that is very close. I get a membership in the town's community recreation building, which includes a large indoor pool. It has a very large salon, a billiards room, a wonderful fitness room, a big white-tablecloth restaurant, and smaller meeting rooms. They had so much stuff it's hard to remember it all. It's very close to shopping, so I can transfer my prescription account to a store that's practically across the street, which I can walk to. They have a small private dining room if you want to have a private affair and have it catered. It even has a dance studio, a lot of community events, and it also provides transportation. I like that they also had a cafe. They had a lot of things I liked, and the community is very friendly. I was just very impressed with it."

"My wife and I have lived at Avila for the past two years. We are enjoying immensely this experience and our choice to join this community. The dining, housekeeping, and maintenance staff are most helpful and supportive. "Before my mother passed away, she was in a home called Hawthorne Ridge in their memory care unit. It was fine. I had no complaints with it. At that time, everything was brand new. I also had lunch there a few times and the food was good. "

"I'm going to be moving into Ohav Sholom Apartments. The staff is very competent. The price of course is the deciding factor as well as the cleanliness of the facility. I'll be on the 6th floor. It's a 1-bedroom unit and very spacious. There is ample transportation to all local areas like, grocery stores, banks; all within very close proximity. This is an independent living option, and I'll be doing all my own cooking, etc. There is a small grocery store on site for any eventuality that you may need and there are also laundry facilities. Everything is right there. "

"My father moved into the Terrace at Beverwyck over the weekend. We chose it for its features, its amenities, and its value. Also, it's a non-profit community. It's lovely; it's like a 5-star hotel. It's beautiful, clean, bright and tastefully decorated. It's the right kind of environment for elderly people who can't or don't want to live alone anymore. Everybody that lives there look happy and healthy."

"My mom had her heart set on Coburg Village initially. She had seen it with a friend of hers. She was always leaning towards moving there, and she did. They just renovated her room. She has lovely carpet and a beautiful porch. They do cleaning twice a month. It's really nice. She loves it. It's a very active community. They have arts and crafts, bridge, meals, and buses around the community. She loves the food."

"We toured Beverwyck. What I liked best about it was how warm and friendly it was. Linda was very nice. She was so easy to talk to and very friendly. The place was so warm and cozy. We even talked to one of the cleaning people there who were just so friendly and upbeat. I loved the way they had the place decorated for fall and for me, probably they decorate it for all different seasons. What I liked least about it was that it was not all on one floor. It was two stories. So you didn't have to use an elevator, but you didn't have to go down very long halls or anything, and that was nice. We saw a couple of empty rooms that had been cleared out, repainted, and cleaned. They looked nice and clean, with lovely views. I love the gardens they have. They have beautiful gardens and places to sit in the sunshine and be able to watch birds and so forth, maybe wildlife."

"I'm in Delmar Rehab right now. I have been very happy, and I have never had any real problem here. They're very understanding. I have had occupational as well as physical therapy, and they are very conscious of it. I have gained a lot of weight over the last few years, and I have lost a lot of weight since I have been here, so as far as I'm concerned, they're very good. I think the staff is very good. The physical therapy is outstanding. They're very caring and very understanding, and they're good listeners, too. If you have any problems -- pain or anything -- they're right on top of it. If I feel like I'm hungry, I can get a sandwich, cookies, or something. I did a lot of my rehab in the room because of COVID, and they wouldn't let you into the hallways. Last month, since COVID is not in the building anymore, they opened the gym, and they have chairs, bicycles, and other exercise things in there, so if you are able to, they will get you on the bike. I also started to be able to walk in the hallways as long as I wear my mask. They're very, very good. Now that the weather is nice, I have seen people outside, and they are able to walk around the building."

"The Glen Eddy is an absolutely marvelous place. My first impression was, “Wow, this is really nice.” It looked very good and modern, and the people we saw were very active with games and lots of activities. It was just very nicely setup. They had an art room, a swimming pool with a hot tub, they have a hair dresser, a barber shop, and the restaurant is excellent. It just had a lot to offer, and the person who gave us the tour was very nice."
