Assisted Living Communities in Troy, NY

"My mother is going into The Pines. If I had to rate them on a scale of 1 to 10, I would give them a 12. They were very cordial and very nice during all three times that I was there. Every time that I called and left a message, they returned my phone call within a timeframe that was best for me. I can't say anything bad about them. The place was very clean. It was very homey looking. I loved the kitty cat; I thought that was fantastic. We went in two or three times and even the people who were staying there are calling that their home now. The rooms were very nice. You do share a room with somebody, which I think is fantastic. People might say they want to be alone, but I think that having a partner in the room with you is fantastic because as we get older, we don't want to be alone. Just looking over at somebody and knowing that they are there is comforting. The first time that I went there, they were out to lunch. They gave me a calendar of their activities and they also told me that there was one up on the wall. They start out at 9 a.m. or 10 a.m. doing Tai-chi. They also have Bingo, movie nights, happy hour, going to the track, and everything. I should go there myself. I was very, very pleased. "

"We have sisters who are residents of The Terrace at Eddy Memorial. What we like, first of all, is that the place is clean, which is important, and the staff is attentive. The sisters like the setup of their rooms. There are walk-in closets, and it is very ample. It's not cramped whatsoever. I helped settle a few of them into their rooms, and they were very happy with the arrangements. They get really good care. There's a good activity level. I've heard some complaints about the food, but not a whole lot. For the most part, the food is probably above average. When you walk in, it's very welcoming, with a lot of places to sit and flowers around. The staff at the desk is very helpful. They have an art class, and every Sunday they have a communion and religious service, which is really important to the sisters. We chose The Terrace at Eddy Memorial primarily because of availability and services."

"I toured for a friend of mine and it was very nice and welcoming. Residents were happy and speaking highly of the care they receive there. We are going to move forward with admitting her there. "

"Support Ministries Ahana House is a beautiful facility. It is small and quaint but extremely well kept, and it sits nicely in a good neighborhood in Waterford. When we were considering this place for my grandmother, we were taken aback by the attentiveness of the staff, but thought it might just be a marketing ploy. My grandmother has now been living there for over a year and we can safely say that the service is just as good as was promised to us. The nurses are friendly, knowledgeable, and respond promptly. My only complaint is that it can sometimes be difficult to schedule a visit and consistently meet with the same staff due to their rotating nursing schedule. The food is excellent and the cooks are able to cater directly to dietary needs (and picky eaters!) They do group meetings on Mondays and foster a sense of community among the residents. I've recommended Ahana House to a few friends and plan to continue to do so. "

"I will move into Eddy Hawthorne Ridge, and I had a very good complete tour. I didn't realize there was no washer and dryer, but that was the only little hiccup in the whole thing. They have flooring put into the bedroom because I don't like rugs in the bedroom, and they're just a source of bacteria. They have a regular meal program. What I like most about Hawthrone is that I originally lived down in that area. I had a home down in Valatie, and all my best friends are down there. I'll only be about ten miles from the Valatie so I can go down. I may even be able to get back to some of my doctors, even down there, that I hated leaving. It's got everything I want Elizabeth is wonderful. She's very accommodating, down to earth, and a great person. She is there to deliver all these things you want. I like the smallness of that place. The rooms were nice, large, and airy. I just felt comfortable when I went in there. The chef was there for 21 years, so he must be doing something right. In the room where I am staying now, I walk miles to the dining room, and it's hard for me, but in Eddy Hawthorne Ridge, all I have to do is take the little elevator, and I'll be right there and comfortable. I like the feel of the place in general. I can park my car right back by my room and walk in and out easily when I go grocery shopping."

"I toured the Promenade at University Place. The staff and the person doing the tours seem very knowledgeable about their clients. They seem to offer a lot of activities and things. It's just, I know that that facility used to be a hotel and it kind of still feels like a hotel. And I didn't find it as clean as the other places that I visited, and perhaps because it's not as updated. They had a courtyard that was all enclosed. The outdoor space wasn't as nice as other facilities because it is right on Western Avenue. And there are other commercial buildings very close to it. It has six floors, and they only have three open at this moment."

"It was a great place with many amenities that were great for my grandmother. They have a lot of group and individual activities that help the people there to make friends with each other. The food looked great and the workers were nice to the me and to everyone else there. "

"Beverwyck's assisted living community is beautiful. I went in the main entrance and the receptionist was a senior citizen. She was friendly and I filled out an employment application. While I was there, some residents and visitors were talking in the spacious waiting area. Some residents were ambulating with walkers and an employee was going around watering plants. They have a gift shop off the waiting room. The decor is traditional and the rooms are immaculate. It's summer, so I could walk around outside. Many residents were walking for exercise along the meandering roads outside. The many residential buildings have parking lots and easy access. The facility was built recently and has the advantages of modern construction. Anyone would love living there or staying for awhile. "

"We toured Beverwyck. What I liked best about it was how warm and friendly it was. Linda was very nice. She was so easy to talk to and very friendly. The place was so warm and cozy. We even talked to one of the cleaning people there who were just so friendly and upbeat. I loved the way they had the place decorated for fall and for me, probably they decorate it for all different seasons. What I liked least about it was that it was not all on one floor. It was two stories. So you didn't have to use an elevator, but you didn't have to go down very long halls or anything, and that was nice. We saw a couple of empty rooms that had been cleared out, repainted, and cleaned. They looked nice and clean, with lovely views. I love the gardens they have. They have beautiful gardens and places to sit in the sunshine and be able to watch birds and so forth, maybe wildlife."

"I'm in Delmar Rehab right now. I have been very happy, and I have never had any real problem here. They're very understanding. I have had occupational as well as physical therapy, and they are very conscious of it. I have gained a lot of weight over the last few years, and I have lost a lot of weight since I have been here, so as far as I'm concerned, they're very good. I think the staff is very good. The physical therapy is outstanding. They're very caring and very understanding, and they're good listeners, too. If you have any problems -- pain or anything -- they're right on top of it. If I feel like I'm hungry, I can get a sandwich, cookies, or something. I did a lot of my rehab in the room because of COVID, and they wouldn't let you into the hallways. Last month, since COVID is not in the building anymore, they opened the gym, and they have chairs, bicycles, and other exercise things in there, so if you are able to, they will get you on the bike. I also started to be able to walk in the hallways as long as I wear my mask. They're very, very good. Now that the weather is nice, I have seen people outside, and they are able to walk around the building."

"We checked out Albany Center, an Adult Home. The location is convenient. It seemed clean. The staff seemed nice. I turned in the paperwork; however, I can't get a hold of her. The structure of the building was good. They had like a small hotel-type room. It has a bathroom and living room area. The bathroom is a good size. The safety features that they have are good. They have emergency call buttons in the bathroom and the bedroom. It felt homey when I walked inside."

"While nothing is better than living with your immediate family, Willow Park is about as good as it's going to get when it comes to assisted living facilities. My grandmother was placed in their facilities approximately 3 years ago and is extremely happy with her arrangements. She is a very religious women and can practice her Christian faith in their Chapel. Even though she has turned in her license, transportation can be provided to go anywhere most hours of the day for an additional fee. She has the option of eating up to 3 meals a day and gets an evening snack before bed. She doesn't have to worry about cleaning and laundry because these are taken care of by staff. The staff is very friendly and seem to enjoy their jobs. Willow Park is very clean on the inside and the staff maintain the building well. My grandmother loves getting her hair done and can get it done right on site. While some may consider the facility costly, I would strongly recommend Willow Park for you or your loved ones. "

"My mother was in The Terrace at Glen Eddy for respite care. The care that she got was very compassionate. They were very friendly. The only complaint she had was that she couldn't figure out how to get her TV to work, and that was basically operator error. It wasn't anything to do with them and it was her. She was displeased with some of the meals, but not totally. She liked some of them and then some of them, she didn't, but that's her. She had no complaints with the staff, she said they were very attentive, they were compassionate, they were funny. They liked her, and they gave her little gifts. She liked the staff. It was very nice, very well kept up, and they had a lot of things for the residents to do. A lot of activities, and they always tried to include her. Her apartment was adorable, it was really cute."

"Glen Eddy has very lovely cottages and apartments. Everything they had in the building was all nicely done and well kempt. I would be happy to live there. They had listing for their activities both inside and outside the facility. I would recommend it to others also. "
