"I am staying at Peregrine Senior Living at Crossgate. The outside is always impeccable and very well kept, as is the inside. They have two different kinds of studio apartments and a one-bedroom apartment. The one-bedroom goes to couples. I have a studio, but it is very roomy. Everybody is friendly, caring, loving, and concerned. I have yet to meet any staff member that is not pleasant. The meals are excellent and more than sufficient. There are always activities going on. They have communion twice a week, mass on Sunday mornings that's televised, and bible studies. We have a gorgeous fireplace. We will gather around the fireplace and have hot chocolate and stories. There's bingo three times a week and outings. We have live entertainment at least once a week. It's called our happy hour. Nonalcoholic and alcoholic beverages are available, all at no charge, and part of the package. There's exercise twice a day. The rent is hefty, but you get a pretty good package. The only thing that I'm having issues with is that the rent goes up every year. We have a nurse on duty every day. A doctor comes in once a week. A podiatrist comes in once or twice a week. Our garbage usually gets taken out every day. A cleaning lady comes in once a week and vacuums stuff and whatever needs to be done. Once a week they come in and change your sheets. They'll take your laundry, and it'll come back all washed and folded up. So overall, I would say it couldn't get much better."

"The tour we had at Danforth Adult Care Center was excellent. We were touring for memory care for my wife. I felt the place was exceptionally clean, and the rooms were nice. The residents' rooms did not have hospital beds. It was regular furniture, and you can hang pictures to put on your wall. You can also have some of your own furniture for whatever there might be room for. I felt that the staff was attentive and not in a strictly business way. I noticed how two of the residents who are living there were interacting with them on a personal basis, rather than strictly a patient-nurse type of thing. The sitting areas outside were nice, too. There was an area in an alcove off the interior where the wind was blocked, so you could sit in sunshine or shade. The chairs and everything out there were nice. It just sounded like it was all quite good."

"I liked Peregrine Senior Living at Shaker very much. My mother didn't like it very much though. She didn't feel that she needed assisted living and then that facility discovered that it had Legionnaires bacteria in their water system. So, that kind of took care of that. I believe the facility has fixed that issue but my mother's reaction to the issue of moving into assisted living followed closely by that Legionnaires issue just didn't work out. The admissions director was very knowledgeable. She knew the residents and they were very comfortable with her. She knew the staff. She was very knowledgeable about what we would need to do to have our mother move in. So, she was a good source of information. Everything was clean, pleasant, and looking appropriately decorated for autumn. It seemed like a place where someone would like to be. It's like a hotel setting."

"I like the suburban setting of Peregrine Senior Living at Guilderland. It was very pleasantly decorated. It seemed a very comfortable place."

"I toured The Terrace At The Glen. First of all, the facility is gorgeous. They have everything that you can think of. The other thing that I liked is the fact that they do have a continuum of care. Pam was extremely informative. She followed up without being intrusive."

"My father moved into the Terrace at Beverwyck over the weekend. We chose it for its features, its amenities, and its value. Also, it's a non-profit community. It's lovely; it's like a 5-star hotel. It's beautiful, clean, bright and tastefully decorated. It's the right kind of environment for elderly people who can't or don't want to live alone anymore. Everybody that lives there look happy and healthy."

"We toured Beverwyck. What I liked best about it was how warm and friendly it was. Linda was very nice. She was so easy to talk to and very friendly. The place was so warm and cozy. We even talked to one of the cleaning people there who were just so friendly and upbeat. I loved the way they had the place decorated for fall and for me, probably they decorate it for all different seasons. What I liked least about it was that it was not all on one floor. It was two stories. So you didn't have to use an elevator, but you didn't have to go down very long halls or anything, and that was nice. We saw a couple of empty rooms that had been cleared out, repainted, and cleaned. They looked nice and clean, with lovely views. I love the gardens they have. They have beautiful gardens and places to sit in the sunshine and be able to watch birds and so forth, maybe wildlife."

"I like Peregrine Senior Living at Delmar Place very much. Everybody was very friendly. I was concerned about my dog, but they were very nice talking about getting a dog walker for me and so on. They were very accommodating. They showed me an apartment that was adequate, but it was kind of out of my price range. The apartment that I could afford, I thought, was rather small. Nevertheless, everything was very clean and easily accessible. They had a lot of game rooms, libraries, and reading rooms."

"I will move into Eddy Hawthorne Ridge, and I had a very good complete tour. I didn't realize there was no washer and dryer, but that was the only little hiccup in the whole thing. They have flooring put into the bedroom because I don't like rugs in the bedroom, and they're just a source of bacteria. They have a regular meal program. What I like most about Hawthrone is that I originally lived down in that area. I had a home down in Valatie, and all my best friends are down there. I'll only be about ten miles from the Valatie so I can go down. I may even be able to get back to some of my doctors, even down there, that I hated leaving. It's got everything I want Elizabeth is wonderful. She's very accommodating, down to earth, and a great person. She is there to deliver all these things you want. I like the smallness of that place. The rooms were nice, large, and airy. I just felt comfortable when I went in there. The chef was there for 21 years, so he must be doing something right. In the room where I am staying now, I walk miles to the dining room, and it's hard for me, but in Eddy Hawthorne Ridge, all I have to do is take the little elevator, and I'll be right there and comfortable. I like the feel of the place in general. I can park my car right back by my room and walk in and out easily when I go grocery shopping."

"Brookdale is very nice, and my father actually enjoys it there. They’re the only facility who would accept him with his physical state and his Alzheimer’s. Most places in New York wanted to put him directly into a nursing home. He loves it there, they’re meeting all his needs, going above and beyond, and we have no complaints. It’s a wonderful choice for my father; I would definitely recommend it to anyone who doesn’t want to go to the nursing home route. "

"I've just had my mother in Home of the Good Shepherd about two months now. I like the atmosphere of this place. The people are very friendly. The staff there is really nice too. They're very attentive and very nice to everybody. They're very good actually. The nurses are able to take care of my mom 24/7. I haven't heard any complaints about them. They have plenty of activities all day long. They do bingo, different arts, etc. My mom doesn't do any of that stuff but she plays the piano for them. They have a grand piano in their dining area. My mom has an apartment. It doesn't have a kitchen area and it's a little small but for what she needs, it's okay. The price is good. Everything is included and that's a big factor for us. Overall, my mom is doing okay in this facility. "

"My mom is at The Wesley Community. Everybody is very, very friendly. Communication is outstanding. The hallways are large. The rooms are large. It's very bright and cheerful. It's a wonderful experience. The food is very good. There's a variety of different sandwiches as options. There's everything from chili to fish. Right now, my mom is on the rehab floor. They have a beauty parlor where they can get their hair done. They have social activities. They have had a Christmas party and Christmas caroling. They offer music. In comparison to where she had been before, it's night and day."

"The Woodlawn Commons had 100 apartments; 60 were independent and 40 were assisted living, all within the same building. The facility is very beautiful and well-maintained. They have a ton of activities. They also had food there that you could choose to eat. They have a hairdresser, different massages, physical therapy, exercises, and little clubs that play bridge, cards, and things like that. The staff members were very friendly and knowledgeable. The price is a little bit more than my parents could afford."
