"I toured Brookdale Niskayuna and met Pam (the person who took me around) and Lisa (the receptionist) and they were both so friendly and so welcoming. As far as the place itself, I thought it was cozy. I liked the fact that the dining room had enough space. I liked that they were refurbishing with new furniture. The places where they go and chat and watch TV were just very, very bright. I liked having all those windows and there was nothing dingy about it. I liked the fact that the main room where they would do their bingo and happy hour on Fridays or any of those other things was not so large for an elderly person to get lost. We had lunch and it was delicious. We met the nurse as well and she asked questions to my aunt and was just so sweet. I also liked the apartments, but the bathrooms were small. The sink was just a sink. My aunt likes to put things out on the ledge, but there's no place to do that."

"I visited Home Sweet Home at Athens. It's assisted living and it was clean, pleasant, and seemed to be a good facility. It was smaller, just one large building. The actual place looked good and the dining room is okay. The nice thing about it is you could walk out to the stores in the neighborhood. There are small convenience stores and a library around the area, so that's something good about it. The building has steps though so you would need to be ambulatory."

"I went to visit Promenade at University Place. I wasn't too thrilled with that one, that was my least favorite place and it looks just like a hotel. It seems like a very friendly atmosphere, everybody knew each other. They were trying to start to do a lot for the clients, as far as redesigning different areas of the building and trying to make it look more spiffy. What I didn't like is the rooms, they remind me too much of a hotel. I think it was kinda pricey for what they're offering. The staff who gave the tour was very helpful and provided me with all the information we needed. She did her job well and kept up with me as well, she contacted me later to see if I was still interested in anything. She was good, she did her job. They were getting a little beauty salon coming on, and there was something they were trying to do outside."

"While leaving a loved one in another's care is never easy, it is a little easier with Daughters of Sarah. After years of at-home care, my grandfather decided that Daughters of Sarah was the place great-grandmother, and she enjoyed the rest of her life there peacefully with loving and supportive staff. Ensuring the safety and well being of your loved ones is always the priority, and our family felt she was in good hands at Daughters of Sarah. She was only there for a short period of time, but I can remember her room being a warm, clean, and welcoming environment. The food wasn't always spectacular, but it seemed to be satisfactory to her. The location couldn't be better so it's great for those with a big family it's close to Albany, Schenectady, and Troy, but the grounds don't have the atmosphere of the city. The facilities and property has been upgraded in recent years so I expect the quality has only improved since then. "

"The rooms at Beverywyck were lovely. They were of good size. My parents ate there, and they said the food was good. They were happy with the meal. My husband and I had a chance to look at the menus, and they looked very good. In the dining facility, the spacing between the tables was a little tighter, but they could still get people with wheelchairs and walkers in. The only thing I could think of to improve would be to have full generator coverage. "

"My parents lived at Beverwyck for about 10 years, and I was very impressed by the facilities and the caring, committed staff. Staff always knew them by name and were always aware of any major health challenges they faced. Their unit was extremely nice and they were able to live independently but also have meals in the dining area whenever they wished. They made many close, long-term friends at Beverwyck, as there were lots of activities for residents. I can't say enough good things about the Beverwyck and will look for a similar place for myself when the time comes."

"I'm in Delmar Rehab right now. I have been very happy, and I have never had any real problem here. They're very understanding. I have had occupational as well as physical therapy, and they are very conscious of it. I have gained a lot of weight over the last few years, and I have lost a lot of weight since I have been here, so as far as I'm concerned, they're very good. I think the staff is very good. The physical therapy is outstanding. They're very caring and very understanding, and they're good listeners, too. If you have any problems -- pain or anything -- they're right on top of it. If I feel like I'm hungry, I can get a sandwich, cookies, or something. I did a lot of my rehab in the room because of COVID, and they wouldn't let you into the hallways. Last month, since COVID is not in the building anymore, they opened the gym, and they have chairs, bicycles, and other exercise things in there, so if you are able to, they will get you on the bike. I also started to be able to walk in the hallways as long as I wear my mask. They're very, very good. Now that the weather is nice, I have seen people outside, and they are able to walk around the building."

"We checked out Albany Center, an Adult Home. The location is convenient. It seemed clean. The staff seemed nice. I turned in the paperwork; however, I can't get a hold of her. The structure of the building was good. They had like a small hotel-type room. It has a bathroom and living room area. The bathroom is a good size. The safety features that they have are good. They have emergency call buttons in the bathroom and the bedroom. It felt homey when I walked inside."

"We have sisters who are residents of The Terrace at Eddy Memorial. What we like, first of all, is that the place is clean, which is important, and the staff is attentive. The sisters like the setup of their rooms. There are walk-in closets, and it is very ample. It's not cramped whatsoever. I helped settle a few of them into their rooms, and they were very happy with the arrangements. They get really good care. There's a good activity level. I've heard some complaints about the food, but not a whole lot. For the most part, the food is probably above average. When you walk in, it's very welcoming, with a lot of places to sit and flowers around. The staff at the desk is very helpful. They have an art class, and every Sunday they have a communion and religious service, which is really important to the sisters. We chose The Terrace at Eddy Memorial primarily because of availability and services."

"Glen Eddy is very nice. They also have a lot of activities: painting classes, cooking classes, a pool that residents could use, and they even have Zumba. They have a little cafe where the residents can go down in the morning. It's a little cafe marketplace, so if you ran out of something like paper towels or laundry detergent, they have a few of items there available. They also have graduated levels of care. It's located in a nicer area of Schenectady. It's beautiful. "

"Glen Eddy has very lovely cottages and apartments. Everything they had in the building was all nicely done and well kempt. I would be happy to live there. They had listing for their activities both inside and outside the facility. I would recommend it to others also. "

"I visited the home and was very suprised how much it as changed since i was there 3 years ago , some of the staff were great especially dominika in admissions she made my mom very comfortable,she was sweet and very patient with us and answered all of our questions . My mother now lives there and we are very happy with the most of the staff "

"I will move into Eddy Hawthorne Ridge, and I had a very good complete tour. I didn't realize there was no washer and dryer, but that was the only little hiccup in the whole thing. They have flooring put into the bedroom because I don't like rugs in the bedroom, and they're just a source of bacteria. They have a regular meal program. What I like most about Hawthrone is that I originally lived down in that area. I had a home down in Valatie, and all my best friends are down there. I'll only be about ten miles from the Valatie so I can go down. I may even be able to get back to some of my doctors, even down there, that I hated leaving. It's got everything I want Elizabeth is wonderful. She's very accommodating, down to earth, and a great person. She is there to deliver all these things you want. I like the smallness of that place. The rooms were nice, large, and airy. I just felt comfortable when I went in there. The chef was there for 21 years, so he must be doing something right. In the room where I am staying now, I walk miles to the dining room, and it's hard for me, but in Eddy Hawthorne Ridge, all I have to do is take the little elevator, and I'll be right there and comfortable. I like the feel of the place in general. I can park my car right back by my room and walk in and out easily when I go grocery shopping."

"I did a tour of Ingersoll Place Assisted Living. The head of marketing, she knew all the residents by name. As she was giving me a tour, she said hi to everyone and they all knew her. It looks like a fancy hotel. It's very, very nice. The dining room looks like a restaurant, it's absolutely gorgeous. I looked at a few studio apartments, and they were very nice. The staff all seemed very nice. When I got there, they were having an exercise class. They were about to go on a trip to visit a farm with horses. The staff talked about another trip where they took the residents fishing. So, they have a very wide range of activities, pretty much all day; different activities. The studio apartments all had a small kitchenette with a refrigerator and a sink, which I liked. The residents, if they didn't have any issues, were allowed to have a microwave. Another reason why I liked them is because it's three minutes from my house, so it's literally down the street. For us, it would be very convenient."
