"I did a tour of Van Rensselaer Manor. I love the outside, the land, it's just gorgeous. They had everything. They had a huge PT/OT room, a dentist, a podiatrist, and hairdressing. They have a beautiful dining room, and it was very nice. They're supposed to be getting another grant to do more work on it. The staff member who gave us the tour was great. The rooms were great."

"My.Mom was here for a month and the staff treated her like royalty. Very accessible to family and dogs to visit. Food was excellent and we were able to eat with her for a very low price. We highly recommend Schuyler Ridge. "

"My parents live at the Massry Residence and they love it. We had much resistance in getting them here, but once they settled in, my mother asked why they hadn't done it before. They love the activities - and there are tons! Their laundry and housekeeping are done for them on a regular schedule and as needed. The care staff members are excellent, providing advice, making appointments, and offering a caring ear. "

"My siblings and I placed my mother in Teresian, she was there for a few years and passed away last summer. I am beyond grateful for the nuns and doctors and staff at Teresian for helping her final years be comfortable and happy at times. She always wanted to go home, but with the private rooms, she had the dignity and privacy not provided in other places , the doctor was the only one to every properly diagnose and treat her Lewy body dementia and with the right medications, she was SO much better, she never did not know who we were and did not have to suffer the hallucinations and other awful symptoms. "My mother is a long-term resident of Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center, having moved into skilled nursing there nearly four years ago. Without a doubt, Daughters of Sarah is an absolutely wonderful place for my mother during this stage of her life. All residents have single private rooms with bathrooms, which is significant. For my mother, it's meant that she's comfortable in her own space and in her day-to-day life there. But without a doubt, the best part of Daughters of Sarah is the staff itself. During my visits, I'm always struck by how each and every employee I see is dedicated to providing excellent nursing care in a welcoming, comfortable environment. For over four years, the nursing staff has managed my mother's medical issues exceptionally well, while the care aides, social workers, and recreational staff always give her the hands-on care she needs and treat her with respect and kindness. As a family member, I breathe easy knowing that my mother has and will continue to receive exceptional care at Daughters of Sarah."

"My mom was in Rosewood a month ago. As far as the rehab part -- the OT and the PT -- it was excellent -- very good. They included her in all the activities, they went and got her, and they brought her out because she wouldn't remember to go. They made sure she got up to breakfast, lunch, and dinner so she could be with other people at the table to eat, and that was great. So, if it was for socialization, it was wonderful. She participated in the activities, she did her PT and her OT, and that part was great; that part was excellent. She had to have wound care because she had edema, and her legs just got so big, they split, and she had to have wound care, but I am not sure if they were kind of qualified or really knew how to handle it. They wrapped and bandaged it, but they were supposed to use solutions and wrap it every other day, and I just don't think they knew how to do that or were trained how to do that. So for that part, she got better care with that in the hospital than she did at rehab. But all in one, it was a great experience, she loved it, and they were very good to her, but I also went every day to make sure that everything was done the way it should be. I absolutely would recommend Rosewood for rehab, but I don't know about the nursing home part because we weren't part of that. "

"Kingsway Community have a lot to offer. It's really nice. Dad's only been there a week, so he's still getting adjusted. But he seems to really like it. He enjoys going to dinner with a group of people. They have quite a bit for them to do. They take them to market, to doctor's appointments, they have outings sometimes, they even have a little bonfire, sometimes they go outside and play croquet, even little Wii bowling competition, and they have ice cream socials. It's really a cute little place. They have beauty parlor, barbershop, a bank right on site which is very convenient, and also a little mailroom. They have someone that comes in and cleans the apartment once a week. He has one meal a day that's included in his rent. Their food is like gourmet with couple of different entrees, but they also offer nice variety like cheeseburger, grilled cheese with tomato, Caesar salad. "

"My mom had come out of the Ellis Hospital and had gone over to Sunnyview because she had a hip replacement. She needed physical therapy at that time. We wanted her to have a few more weeks of therapy, but they seemed to be in a hurry to get her out or get her turned over, I don't know. I wished she had stayed there longer because she was making really good progress. She had been there for about a month. Their service was excellent. She was always going on with her physical and occupational therapy. She was always on the move. People were in and out of her room. "

"My MIL has received horrendous "care" at the Ellis Nursing home, severe bedsore requiring specialized wound care, tray left without attempts to feed her, not given medications as ordered by Hospice and the social worker and director of nursing ignore concerns of relatives who visit. I would tell anyone NEVER to place a loved one in this facility. "

"The rehab is good and overall Evergreen is nice. "

"My husbands grandfather went to this facility. They took good care of him but the food was not the best. He didn't eat that well there. The staff were mostly friendly. I noticed one of them was not very helpful. And a little rude.My husbands grandfather went there because he fell off two steps and hurt part of his body. He needed to go there so he could walk again. He was too injured to walk without a wheel chair. He could not stay at home. Because he needed someone always there to help him. So that is why he had to go here. The staff at The Dutch Manor made sure he was able to walk on his own before he was released back home. He started to like it so much he almost refused to leave. He liked people always being there for him. And I think he was afraid of falling again. But the staff there gave him confidence he could walk and care for himself parts of the day at his home. He does have someone at his home that visits and feeds him. "

"The weekend and night staff seem to have attitude about how they treat family and residents. The room is a typical nursing home room not at all as indicated on the web site. Physical therapy is only on weekdays. Again not 7 days a week as claimed. I have been rudely treated 3 times with no direct answers to questions. The administration staff act bothered by the fact that you don't agree to everything they want without more information. There was no communication between day & night staff regarding care. My relative is improving slowly, but got no help with therapy for first four days. "

"Delmar Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing was very pleasant and the surroundings were very nice. The rooms were very nice and the people were very accommodating. The person that showed us around and the admissions office was very good and very helpful. The dining room was also nice. The only problem was it would have to be self-pay and we couldn't do that. So, that was the only setback."

"My mother is in Schenectady County Glendale Home. I think it is a safe and good place. However, there is not enough staffing to give each client the personal care that they need. Right now, they are taking care of their meds administering and bathe them every day or twice a week. They need more staff to help for feeding and to give more personal care. However, other than that, it is fine. The rooms are updated, very new, and very nice. The staff in the kitchen is very nice, and I think the food is fine. I think they can improve on their activities. They have bingo, masses, and visiting entertainers, but I think they need more activities. "
