My father is in Birchwood Retreat. They have very good, very caring, compassionate staff and clean facilities. The residents seem to be well taken care of and they have good food options. They can watch TV and there is a small exercise room. There are only five or six residents in this house. It looked like they have a homecooked meal. I think they all have a common meal. I don't know if there are options, but when I was there, everyone seemed to be enjoying the food. It's clean and well maintained. They're interfacing primarily with my youngest sister who lives in that area, but they're always very willing and receptive to answering my questions when I call. The social worker calls me occasionally. There's sort of a front porch patio and a back patio that they can go out on. It's essentially like a residential house. It's a house that has been converted to a care facility. You got similar amenities as a house would have, a front and back porch area.
