"The tour with Orchard Hills Living was OK. It was nice. The people were friendly and showed me around. I like the fact that it's not like an institution; it almost feels like home. There's only six residents. I like that because I feel like my mother would get better care that way. The rooms are OK. The bathrooms are a lot dated. It's a little tight, but it is handicap accessible. They assured me that if she were to shower or whatever, she would always have someone with her. There would always someone that was there to help, so that's that's a nice thing. It feels like a house. It is cozy. She's going to have roommates. It seems like they always have something planned out daily, but I didn't specifically really see what was planned. I want the hallways a little wider, so they have more room. They have a nice sitting room, dining room, and TV room. She has her privacy and has her own room. I liked that."

"Vibrant Life Superior Township was quite nice. The people that I met there and the people that I talked to were very kind and very helpful. I visited the memory care and it was clean and pleasant. It looked like the residents were well taken care of. It has a nice outdoor courtyard. The gentleman that is in charge was very kind and very nice. It was not the most updated/modern facility, but it was nice."

"A&R Premiere Care just had new add-ons to their facilities. What I liked the most about it was the lady that runs it is a nurse and then her husband is also a healthcare person. I think he's a physical therapist or something. They were both very nice and very helpful."

"The rooms here did have a patio that led outside to a courtyard so my parents could let the dog out and that was important to us. The facility was beautiful. The staff really seemed to know the residents well, like the person who toured us knew the people in the building and they knew her. The residents were coming up and talking to me and telling me about living there. It seemed very homey. They had a salon and a library."

"I went to Serenity Manor. It's a home with a max of six residents. They have two owners, and one of them lives there. She lives in the upstairs apartment. There is always two to three staff, so you have a great ratio of staff to residents. Currently, none of the residents are ambulatory. Most of them are advanced dementia patients and need to be lifted with a Hoyer. Right now, it's not ideal for them, but that's what they're getting. Right now, advanced memory care is what they're getting now. I couldn't even talk to the patients because they were so demented. It's a higher level of care and a lot of one-on-one. I think one of the rooms is shared. It's extremely clean. When you walk in, you were in the kitchen common area. Off to the right are the dining room and the living room, and then behind the kitchen is an L-shaped hallway with bedrooms. There are two bathrooms, too. It's very clean and very nice. If I had somebody who needed 24-hour care like that, that'd be great. I was impressed with the staff, too. "

"Bickford of Canton was very nice, modern, and clean. The staff was attentive, kind, and helpful. My mother-in-law got a haircut one time, and she thought it was really nice. The stylist was very kind too and took her time with her. For her needs, her apartment was sufficient. It was a studio and given the extent of her illness, she didn't really need more than that. That worked out well for us. They had 2 interior garden sitting areas that were very nice. We used one once. There was also a day area with TVs and a piano. We would come and go, and we would see activities with different residents involved. The main contact we had with the staff was my mother-in-law, and she spoke of them being very kind, sweet, and attentive. That was our experience with them too when we were visiting. I guess we got what we paid for there."

"My mother is in Crystal Creek Assisted Living. We chose it for affordability and their acceptance of Medicaid waivers. Her room is clean, spacious and good sized. It's a clean facility and seems to be well run. The meals they are offering are good and reasonable for that price point that is affordable. The staff is very friendly, very attentive, and knowledgeable. They did a good job."

"I like the whole facility. The place is clean. The physical structure of the facility is good. The rooms are great, I have no problem with that. The food is okay as well. I like the service they provide. "

"My mother is in Charlotte Stephenson. It is a very attractive building and has very warm feeling. The attendants are pleasant and caring. The rooms are clean. My mother is moving to a larger room next week. The bathroom is immaculate, spacious, and very safe. They empty the waste basket in the room every day. We are very pleased with the care. They offer activities every day, and everything seems to be fine. They accommodate Father for a modest fee. He has dinner with Mother every night at a special table set aside so the two of them may eat together. We are very happy with it."

"My husband moved here. So far, he's doing OK. I saw that the whole place is nice and clean, really upbeat, and the people are very nice. I can't say anything about the food because he hasn't eaten since he got there. That's his choice though, it's not because they didn't try to get him to eat. The staff seems really nice. He's in memory care because he has advanced dementia. It's all on one floor, the doors are locked all the way around the place, and you need a keycard to get in. They have activities daily, but I don't know what they are, and part of that is because he's probably not engaging in those anyway since he is in pretty bad shape."

"My mom has been here since April and for several months I was extremely happy with the facility, the staff was great when it came to the care of the residents. The only problem I had in the beginning was missing clothes and shoes. Recently the staff and administrators have changed and not for the better, I don’t understand why the change because the old staff was the best, no one is hardly available to address my concerns and the nursing staff is not as professional like the old staff which I wish could come back. At this point I’m looking for a new facility especially since they have increased their fees $200.00 and their services are no longer worth it. The only thing that is consistent from the time my mom moved in would be the activity director Bridgit, she is amazing and has my mother very active. It saddens me to see this beautiful place and staff in the beginning to change so drastically to the point I’m removing my mother from her comfort zone but I can’t keep her there. We had a life scare and Jatonya noticed she wasn’t breathing right called ems which I was told had it been any later she wouldn’t be here today. She is no longer there and that’s sad she was excellent at her job and I don’t feel this new staff are as attentive as the old staff, while I visit no one comes and check on her which they never know when we visit for this unhappiness I feel now she’s going to leave as soon as I find another happy place. I’m so sad to do this to my mom but the only thing to keep her there would be to return the old staff completely"

"I visited Blessed Assisted Living & Memory Care in Garden City and toured the memory care unit. I went to talk and to look at it to see if I was going to take my dad there or not. The people seem nice, and it's very clean. I told them I wanted a private room, but they showed me a room with two beds in it. They said he can have the whole room. I also didn't see any closet space or a TV in there. I'm thinking that if there are two beds in there, how can it be private? Also, if somebody comes in, are they gonna put another person in there with my dad or what? The staff members I met seemed to be a husband and wife team, and they seemed really nice. I was not able to sample the food during the visit, and that kind of bummed me out. They did not show me anything or let me taste anything. They had wheelchair ramps in the backyard, but I didn't see any out front. My dad's in a wheelchair. He can walk, but he's mostly in it, and I didn't see any ramps for that, unless they will probably take him on the side or something. They open up a door, and there's a nice ramp to the backyard, and they also have a nice gazebo back there, but I had to walk up the steps to get into the house during my visit."
