We have secured a place for my husband and it's Cedarhurst of Dyer. It was impressive. I liked it. They had activities. They were doing crafts and coloring. They had TV sessions, and they could watch programs. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the place and the service. The staff was very cordial.

I toured Cedarhurst of Dyer. Everything was excellent. Everything that you want to have in your facility was provided. It's brand new, and I couldn't find anything wrong with it.

Beautiful location… they are great at selling it but they fall very short of fulfilling what they sell you….. staff was kind but never the same because they use a temp agency …. Really terrible at hygiene for the residents ~ promised caretakers that knew how to handle dementia (in a Memory Care) facility and they did not…. So if you’re looking for appearances this place is great …. And their salespeople are even better but I promise you your loved one is not getting the level of care you were told… we were there multiple times daily so we saw a lot…. We pulled our loved one out after they tried giving her the wrong meds twice… luckily we were there when it happened….. again super nice but not super qualified staff at our time of residency….we received a refund…. But that doesn’t really take care of the neglect we felt was taking place.

We liked Cedarhurst of Dyer because of its location and just the way the unit was set up. Memory care has two room sizes and they looked bright and cheerful. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, and answered all my questions. They have a monthly calendar where they have all the activities listed. They were out in the open area where it was bright and they were playing a game together.

Cedarhurst of Dyer was open and bright. The person who showed me around was very knowledgeable, pleasant, and she was very good at what she does. She made my mom the spotlight, kind of working around her but talking to all of us, which was good because my mom needs to hear it. The stuff that I ate, I would go back there and eat it. It's only been open since June. They've got a courtyard in the middle of the building with maybe barbecue stuff out there, but I didn't see a pool. There's a laundry service and you can either pay for it to have it done, or the residents can do it.

Cedarhurst is in a beautiful new building, most of the staff are friendly and pleasant, the problem is there isn't enough of them and they change frequently and overall care is terrible if the resident needs assistance with medications, hygiene or incontinence.

I viewed Cedarhurst of Dyer. That tour with them was excellent. Their establishment was a little pricey, but it was beautiful. It was two stories, but you still have that feeling of coming home. It wasn't like being in an apartment, it was nice, and the staff was nice. I spoke to Laura. She gave me the interview and took the information about my mother-in-law. She's the one that showed me around. I met her assistant, and she showed me the therapy area. She showed me the cafeteria and she said they serve meals like being in a restaurant-style. They have a chef that cooks there and posts the menu every day, and if there's something that they don't like on the chef menu, they do have another one to the side. They offer three meals a day. They have memory care and assisted living in the establishment. It was a newer construction; therefore, I guess they haven't gotten to the point where it looked cozy. Right now, it looked sterile, it's really clean and it's nice. The staff was informative, too. She gave me a lot of information about other institutions that would accept Medicaid. She wrote everything down for me and gave me some references and stuff like that. The area is wide open out there. They have nice landscaping immediately around the building itself. This particular institution, I don't think it's been there longer than about maybe five or six months. It's nice and the surrounding land around it is a wide open space. I think they're new to that community. The prices were up there, but she showed me a price that might be tangible if we can find some other source of income. I like that one. That particular one is at the top of my list. They offer a therapy room. I saw the workout area with the benches and things like that and I also saw a walk-in bathroom where they walk in the tub and sit down in it, the one with a steam whirlpool.
