"Garden Villas of Lenexa was by far my favorite of the apartments that I looked at. The only problem with it was that the laundry room was on the lower floor. To go there, I would have to go down a hallway, take an elevator, and then walk a little bit more. I thought that was a little bit too inconvenient at my age. The washers and dryers are complimentary, but you have to go to them. I viewed a 1-bedroom alcove. It is essentially a studio, but it is extremely well laid out with a full kitchen and a great closet space. Even though it is a studio, you get extra storage, which is helpful. It also has a nice balcony. They have an indoor heated pool and a hot tub. They have several activity rooms that looked quite nice. They have a little bar area with ice cream. The activities looked nice. They have a library, and the dining area is restaurant style. They have the nicest staff, too. They were very friendly and very involved. They were chatting with the residents on a friendly basis. It was a lovely atmosphere. The reason I didn't choose them was the laundry situation. Also, there was a big hill within the parking lot that you would have to go up to, and in the winter that might be a bit difficult. They have transportation available. They offer valet parking. If it was slippery, I could just leave my car at the door, and they would take it and park it."

"I took an in-person tour. They didn't have a swimming pool, which I would like; however, they're very impressive. The only thing I don't like about it is where it's located. They don't have too many people in it yet, but it's very impressive as far as the facility is concerned. The staff was very nice."

"Carnegie Village does a good job, does good service, and is very friendly, and the staff is exceptional. My parents' apartment is very clean, well-kept up, had a great kitchen area, and before they moved in, they had brand new carpet and was repainted. It's a nice and good place. They're not perfect, like a Taj Mahal place, but there's always room for improvement. "

"It was a nice place. I was impressed with it. There are two different types of rooms that my husband could have, one is a single room and the other one is a room with a bedroom. They all had their own bathroom and it was large enough for someone in a wheelchair to be comfortable and move around. It was also clean. The lady who took me on the tour was very helpful, very thoughtful, and very understanding about what we were going through. She introduced me to different departments and I met the person who does the physical therapy, the person assigned for the food or the kitchen, and the person who operates the activity room. It used to be a hotel and it's right on the corner of I-35 and 151st Street and right next to the hospital. So there's a lot of traffic, but when you got inside you couldn't hear anything. The rooms were from the original hotel too. It was quite well used properly and already organized that way. It was pretty good. They had two tables where people could just come in, sit down, and work on a large puzzle. They also do different things each day, like paintings and other stuff. They showed me one room and it was a nice room."

"I moved to The Crestone Senior Living. Everybody is friendly and everybody is nice. The dining room is wonderful. So far I've managed to find everything perfect. My apartment is very nice. I'm at the end of the hallway, which I chose, but I think it's wonderful. The food is fantastic. They have a swimming pool where they have water aerobics. They have different groups that get together to play bingo and listen to music. They have a nice library. They have plenty of things to keep us busy."

"It had nice and big studio apartments, and I was surprised at the size. They have a ton of activities. They have a bus that you could sign up to go to Walmart once a week or to your doctor's office if it's a certain mile radius. It looks like they have a full schedule. The guy there was more like a salesman. He wasn't pushy, but he was more business. The food was OK, and the price was really good. Everybody was really friendly, and it was spotless and beautiful. What I liked about it was each room had a door where you could go out a little deck where you could go outside by yourself without having to have somebody assist you. They had new appliances and a little kitchenette area. There are lots of spaces to move around in the building like lounges and places with cards set up. "

"My mom is at The Princeton Senior Living. We chose it for her, because it was close by and it was a new facility. It's also clean. The staff is friendly and the food is good. They have an exercise room, movies in their mini theater, and music."

"The Groves seems more like a family place. My visit there was fine. It was good. It was clean. I'm hoping I don't have to go because I can't afford it. It's a lot of money to go there. The place is not modern, and it could use some remodeling. I tried their food and it's pretty good."

"I've moved back to The Springs at Independence Age. It's a fifty-five-and-older community. It's wonderful. I have a two-bedroom apartment with two baths. It has a complete kitchen, but it doesn't have an ice maker or a garbage disposal. I have two bedrooms with a clothes closet and a linen closet. I have a stackable washer and dryer. I have a full-size bath with a step-in shower and then a half bath with a toilet and a vanity as you come in the apartment. All the closets are walk-in closets. I also have a balcony, and I get a view of the other side of the property. I'm physically challenged. I'm in a power chair because I'm an amputee, and I didn't realize until now that I actually can't take my power chair to the balcony to go out to get some sun if I want. I might be able to go out, but my power chair had to be lifted to be able for me to come back in. So, I'm looking at the management to see if they could work out some kind of a ramp to help me be able to do that. Other than that, everything else is very doable. I have taken off the doors to the bedroom, the main bathroom, and the closets so I won't run into the doors with my power chair when I have my foot plate down. They have linoleum tiles in the kitchen and the bathrooms but not in the entryway. There's carpet throughout both bedrooms and the living area to the entryway. Personally, I would rather have a wood floor that has vinyl on top, but that's not what they have here. I've requested to have them remove the carpet, but that would have to be at my expense, and I can't afford that. They do community activities, but right now it's at a minimum of what they usually do. With the pandemic, we still have to wear masks. When I moved in two weeks ago, we were having everybody who delivered anything except for food products leave it at a table. Now deliveries from stores and packages come to our apartment, and they knock at the door. The manager is very nice and very knowledgeable, and she tries to get things done as best as she can. There's no food, but we have a stove, a refrigerator, and a dishwasher. We have to cook for ourselves or have deliveries sent to us."

"It was clean. The staff was friendly. The residents seemed very happy. The apartments were large. The amenities were good. They provide meals. They have a library. They have a fitness room. They have transportation to outings or appointments. They furnish laundry equipment in the apartment. I toured around lunchtime, and it smelled good when I went in there. I saw the menu of the day and it looked very, very good. I thought it would be a good fit for my sister."

"I'm pretty pleased with The Parkway Senior Living. Corey was a wonderful individual to work with. I wanted to see what a happy hour looks, so he set that up for me and gave me tickets for free drinks. I went back and I didn't tell him I was going. I came in to check out dinner and as I was getting ready to pay, he went in and got me two tickets for free dinner. We enjoyed that and I enjoyed the happy hour as well. They have a craft room and they have a very active group. They also have different groups like for quilting. They're very friendly."

"I toured Connect55+ Kansas City. What I liked the best was how informative the property manager was about giving the information pertaining to the complex. I thought she was very nice and very willing to accommodate whatever it took for me to be able to apply for the apartment. The structure looks very nice and clean on the exterior. The hallways and the apartment she showed me were also very nice and clean. It was a large apartment, and the layout was typical."
