"Pasadena Highlands is extremely good; I like the setup and everything. The dining area is nice; I sat there to eat. They sent us home with samples of the food their chef had made. I noticed that they had billiards and first-rate movies, not something from 1930. I noticed that there weren't people sitting in their wheelchairs with their heads down. They were actually getting ready to prepare for their New Year Eve's party. The staff is very professional, I don't see them talking down on their patients even when the patients get fidgety or fussy sometimes. In this community, the patients are engaged. In fact, the one introducing the people is also a patient, and I can't get over that. They look to make sure that the patient can actually handle a particular food. They sent her food home to eat, to see what she thought of it, and she loved it. What I like is that the residents are treated like human beings. There were a lot of people in this particular community, so at first I said "Oh, no." But then as I walked up and down, and looked at the things they were doing and their attitude to their patients, I was sold."

"It is a wonderful facility. It seems very nice and clean. The staff was very informative on the tour. It seems like a good place for senior living if that's what's needed for someone. It was great. I don't have anything negative to say about it. I was just touring looking for the best place for my aunt, but it was a contender. The rooms were nice and spacious. You would have to bring your own furniture, but that wasn't a problem. I thought the rooms were a good space, and they had the option of sharing a room with someone or having your own room, which was nice. And the fact that you could bring your pets was also a plus."

"This is assisted living with several levels of care, including Memory Care and a skilled nursing facility. In addition to the many activities and programs, there is an exercise gym with lots of equipment (Wellness Facility) and a plethora of therapy dogs. (Residents can own a cat or dog.) It is located near lots of restaurants and coffee shops. Solheim has received a 5-star rating. However, in my opinion, communication between staff and residents/families could be improved.. "

"We were invited to several lunch and introductory meetings at Scholl Canyon States, and we liked what we saw. When we came we made comparisons to where we were and what they were offering for what we wanted. The place is clean, neat, and very well-maintained. The staff is very helpful and friendly. I have a two-bedroom and two-bath unit. It’s very spacious and has a good outlook. The windows face a busy street, and it’s very pleasant. I would say you would be satisfied 95% with the food. The dining room can accommodate approximately 100 people. There are many activities; they can be trips, doctor appointments, shopping, musical programs, games, and exercise programs. The community is close to our doctors, and that was a big factor in moving here. "

"My wife stayed at Sparr Heights Estates Senior Living for respite care. She was in the memory care section because that's all they had available, but they allowed her free reign. Her level of care was a little bit higher. I like the very quick response and interaction of the people there and the staff, and their professionalism. The cleanliness is just above board. In the dining room, they put out the menu for each meal on each table, and then the resident gets to select what they want from the menu each day. Then they publish the menu for the week on a big board where you come into the dining room. Their level of activities is quite good given that it's a single building complex. It doesn't have any external grounds that I know of, but they have a big inside patio where they have plants and flowers. It is a growing station so that the residents there can come out and water the plants; they can grow plants. My wife's room was right on the patio with a sliding glass door, so she had access to go out onto the patio and sit any time she wanted in the garden-like atmosphere. Their staff was excellent, they were outstanding. I had an early dinner with my wife when I was out there. The kitchen staff, and the dining room supervisor, were all just great. The food was awesome. I don't know how much better to say it, my wife enjoyed that. The only problem my wife has with some of these senior care facilities is many of the people are not as engaged mentally as she is. My wife's a writer, so she still reads and writes poetry. She doesn't think she's old. The facility probably looks a little better than some of the places I have been into. It looks like a big apartment complex, but it's very well kept. They have a nice ramp next to the entry, as well as stairs. They've got automatic doors. You're greeted, and you go in. The office is immediately in front of you. The activities director worked with us quite a bit when we were there. They set up a poetry reading for my wife. My wife took one of her main poetry books with her. They have a lot of activities. They do well for what they have. I think the value for money is excellent."

"On the occasions I have visited Sakura Gardens, I have found the facility to be impeccably clean and was impressed by the friendly and caring staff. Most importantly is that my aunt is always smiling and cheerful, a good sign of the care she is receiving. Shin, in particular, is always helpful and makes sure our questions are answered."

"Hollenbeck Palms is one of the oldest facilities in Los Angeles. The facility was excellent, and the personnel seemed to be well qualified. The members from the independent care were very friendly and very happy with the facility and the food. Because it was an older facility, the rooms were very spacious, and the dining room was spacious and very pleasant. The food was excellent. They had a pool, gym, very nice library, and game room. "

"Belmont Village was very nice, and the staff seemed pretty wonderful. I was impressed with that. I didn’t see anything that needs to improve; they have a lot to offer. I was there at lunch time, so they were all busy with that, and there’s lot of opportunity to be busy. It’s very expensive, and for me, the value was moderate. "

"Our second choice is Atria Covina. It's a much older place. But the people there were very nice. The staff who gave the tour was very personable and very nice. They didn't have as much as the other place as far as what's available, but it was a very nice place. It almost made you feel like you lived in your own apartment, that's how I felt. It looked very clean."

"CityViewVilla Assisted Living is located in LA with architecture, landmarks and attractions surrounding the facility. I recently traveled here to take a tour and I must say, this place is one of a kind. It is my personal favorite in the Los Angeles area. Your loved one can live here independently without a care in the world. The staff are very kind and provide all of the care needed. If I had to choose my personal favorite feature about CityViewVilla would be the rooftop view of this beautiful city and lives up to its name. CityViewVilla is confident that you will like what you see, and second that. The residents are very happy and have nothing to complain about. CityViewVilla is underrated and deserves more recognition. I highly suggest you take a tour. I would also like to mention the rooms here. Once I walked into one I did not want to leave, I felt like I were taking a lovely vacation inside a 5 star hotel. "

"My father spent 3 days in Clearwater at Glendora's assisted living. The best thing about it was probably the amenities. I like the security with the check-in process that they have, too. I think the staff members were also very responsive. There was only one thing I kind of didn't like, and it was when they told me that one unit was open and then said that they made a mistake and that unit was no longer available. It would have been a perfect unit for my father because it had a view, and he always loved a view. Not that he ended up using it, but it was just a little disappointing that it ended up not being available. His living space was clean and spacious, which I really like. We also brought TVs in, and they hung them, so that was nice. We didn't try the food, but when my dad was in hospice, they offered that if the family wanted to go and have some food, we were welcome to go downstairs and have some. That was nice because they knew what we were going through."

"The Leonard on Beverly was beautiful. It's wonderful, but it's too far away. My daughter lives in Burbank, and it took over an hour to drive there, so that wouldn't work for us. It was brand new, and it had beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces. The rooms were fine. The staff was very helpful and very friendly."

"It is very nice, but more geared towards being a retirement place. My dad didn't like the fact that my mom have to take one elevator, then through an area, then up another elevator. It wasn't a very direct way to get to the rooms, and it's a large community. The staff who accommodated us was very helpful and very nice, it was a very pleasant experience. We checked the dining area and it was lovely. It was a very nice place, but it's just a little bit too big for my dad. We also checked the rooms."

"It is really, really great. The people are amazing. The facility is beautiful, and we are so happy with it. My mom has her own room. There’s lots of care when she needs help, like there are a lot of buttons that she can push if she needs helps. She also has a bracelet, so she just presses that button if she needs help. It’s perfect. I could not ask for more from them. They have a salon for her to get haircut, and somebody comes in to cut toenails and fingernails. They have exercise classes, music, and even history lessons. Their restaurant area is really nice. "

"La Mirada Heights was very nice. It reminded me of a nice hotel. The people were very friendly and very kind. The residents there were very nice, too. I like it. It was a nice location, and the whole building was beautiful and new-looking. They had more care than we wanted. They serve three meals a day in their cafeteria, which is wonderful if you don't want to cook. It is a little more expensive than what we want, so we have to figure out how to come up with more money. The units were nicely renovated. I like the friendliness and the professionalism of the people who work there. They followed up, and they quoted the price, but it's kind of out of our price range. I wish they didn't have so much service there. My brother could have lived there if they didn't have three meals a day in the cafeteria. I don't think he can eat that much anyway. The staff was friendly. They greeted you with pleasant enthusiasm. I admired them immediately. The layout was very nice. They had outdoor areas where you could sit in the garden. They had a library setting, too. I also like the layout. You can go out of your room, and there are a lot of areas in the lobby where you can just sit and watch the people go by. They have a nice parking lot. It reminded me of a fine hotel."
