"The care that Columbus Estates provides to my mother-in-law is excellent and the staff is excellent. The food is not very good, probably because of the situation right now. They are doing puzzles, and they do door-to-door little paper activities that they can play and participate in. Her apartment is spacious and has a kitchenette but no stove, just a sink and refrigerator."

"I like Real Care LLC. They were able to renovate the hotel, and they did a great job. The staff was very friendly. The thing that I think I liked the least about it was the fullness of the residents. They did not have very many residents who lived there, and so I was concerned about my father-in-law not getting enough interaction. It also looked like their residents would eat in the main entry. They have some small cafe tables set up, so that is also probably the thing that I like the least about that facility. The staff members were wonderful. The facility was really nice, but it's in a location that is known for homeless people and drug use, and so that was a drawback. The inside was beautiful. They did a great job. It was clean, decorated, and very nice. The room seemed very spacious, too. It's just that the location was just a hang-up for me. Nevertheless, they were great, and it was very clean and pretty inside."

"It was nice. They gave me a complete tour, and they even introduced me to the staff. They were all very kind and very nice. The rooms were set up very well. The facility was clean and laid out very well. The rooms come out into the main area, the dining area, and the recreation area. There are no hallways."

"My mom moved into the memory care of Brookdale Riverwalk. It was a good experience, from the administrator all the way down to the staff members. I have met several of them, and I have been in close contact with the administrator of the memory care, Martha. They have answered all of our questions, and they have offered safe visiting for family members during COVID. They have individual designated spaces where you can bring your family, and they have appointments for these times, so it's not overrun in the facility. They have so many activities, and the activity director sends out calendars that let you know exactly what they are eating. They had that online, and if they see that the patient is not tolerating the food, they immediately check with the doctor to see if they can change them to a different type of diet. It's really been a good experience. My mom is a picky eater, and she has a denture issue, so they switched her to puree, and she's eating it just as well as regular food. She enjoys her food. I have seen her with juice and some snacks, and then her dinner. It's worth every penny that my parents have put aside to take care of it."

"Ivy Park at Seven Oaks was very clean. The rooms were very small, but they gave me a wonderful tour. Their facilities were also wonderful, and they offered a lot of activities to the residents. I saw the menu, and it looked wonderful. I talked to a couple of residents, and they said the food was good. You order off a menu, so you have the opportunity to get what you want. The dining room looked wonderful. The only reason I didn't choose it is because it's so far from my house. The place was very good, and the staff members were very hands on and pleasant."

"I visited Pinewood Glen Senior Retirement Community. They'll do the housekeeping, your towels and your sheets, but you do your personal laundry. They have a chef, but I'm on a special diet and their food wouldn't be something that I could eat and it's included in my payment. The place was clean. I visited with a few of the people that live there and they were nice. It was a place that I could possibly go to, but I walk with a cane and a walker. There's a lot of steps walking around and it's two stories. The single apartments are on the bottom and the lofts are on the second floor. There were 99 apartments. The staff was very nice. She accommodated the questions that I had and answered them for me. It was a nice experience. I felt safe in the location. It was just like some other apartment building. They lock the doors at 5:00, and they have a keycard, so if you're out after that, you can come back in. It was a nice atmosphere."

"Hallmark of Bakersfield is excellent all the way around. Good environment, the people are friendly, and they are very excellent caretakers. They have very good food and a really excellent cook. They have a lot of activities -- like they do parties for different holidays, and they have Bingo and other games, and a bus that takes them out. They do something every day. My friend really likes it there. She likes how the workers take time in helping and assisting her as well as the friendly atmosphere of the place. "

"Rosewood offers the most friendly, caring, qualified professionals that I have experienced. It is a pleasure to visit and see the delightful attitudes of both residents and staff. The activities available for all levels of residental, assisted, and the health center living are marvelous. The food is outstanding!! I highly recommend anyone looking for a GREAT CCRC to visit this campus. "

"I went to Brookside Senior Apartment. I liked it. I loved everything about it because it was just my mom and dad. If you do have a pet, they allow it. The layout was great. They also have two bedrooms available, if you want. They cost a little more, but they give you a little extra space. I just love the set up and the bathroom because it's set up basically for the handicapped. It has rods for the bath, the tub, and the shower if needed. Everything is set up nicely. It's gated. I love that it was gated. I felt safer for them with that. There were activities for them to do. They have a potluck and bingo. Everybody is kind of in the same senior age group, which I loved. For the people that can't drive or don't have transportation, they take them shopping and to visit people. I thought that was amazing, too. Everybody was great there. My eldest daughter-in-law's grandmother lives there. That's why we got so many great reviews from them. Everybody was amazing there. The neighbors in the community kind of watch out for each other there, and I loved that. They called my daughter-in-law right away when the grandmother was out, and they knew something was wrong. So I love that it's amazing. It's just a very tight community. There were so many things my son and my daughter-in-law keep telling me. I think this is the best place for them because it's near where I live. I saw nothing that I didn't like there. It's kept close to stores, and shopping areas. Everybody seemed to be nice there and helpful. And I got nothing but great reviews for my daughter-in-law and their family and my daughter-in-law's grandmother. She loves it there and she hasn't been there that long. She hasn't even been there a year. But she's met friends and she lives alone. So that gives them peace of mind because they're really busy, and they all work. Her grandmother still drives."
