"I'm a resident of Santa Anita Assisted Living. I like the way they run things here. This is my first time ever being involved in some kind of assisted living. I like all the programs and I like the freedom. They're doing a great job over here. They're caring for me, providing me with food and activities and they're keeping me busy here. I see the staff on a daily basis. The med techs come here and bring me my medicine, help me out with my medicine and my insulin and checking my glucose meter. The staff is very nice, cordial, and respectful. I spend lots of time in the activity room and I get along with Brenda and Lisa. They always have something fun going on for us, exercise, coloring, and we go out to the stores. I'm enjoying my little stay here. When I first got here, I was upset, bored, and not liking the place, but as time goes on, I'm realizing, it's not so bad after all. I share my room with a roommate. It's pretty small and a little bit uncomfortable, but it is what it is. I got my own bed, my TV, and I got my little corner of the room. I go out to eat out in the dining hall three times a day. I do my square meals and snacks in between. Everything here is provided for me. They come and make my bed and clean my room. They help out with showers. I appreciate that very much because I told them, "You guys don't even know me and you guys are showing me love." They've been immensely helpful and respectful to me and my family. I like it here. I get along with everybody so good. I'm enjoying this place now. The food is good. They got a good chef. We have a meeting every month and we all get together. We get hot meals and one thing I appreciate very much is whenever I'm hungry and if I just want some milk or even a hot boiled egg, whatever, I go into the kitchen and there's always something given to me. It's a nice place. They take care of everybody here. They clean my room, make my bed, and do my laundry. We work with each other and everything gets done accordingly. I'm just not happy with the pricing. I pay $1,400 a month and these rooms are small. My last roommate was bedridden so he didn't leave the room at all and he used the bathroom all the time. The staff would come in and change him, and I got to leave the room. You really don't have any room to do anything. It is almost like a prison cell. I wish the rooms are bigger for the price we pay. There's no room to move around."
