"I went to the Bay Towers at Bixby Knolls to look at their independent living. I liked the place. It looked like a big hotel with very friendly people. It's also very clean. I didn't see any activities, the residents were just watching TV. The staff who I talked to was good."

"It was very nice. The woman is a traveling representative because they didn't have a sales representative there right then, so she showed me around. She was very familiar with everything right there. She answered all the questions, and she was very pleasant. She offered a meal, too. She gave me all the time I needed, and she showed me several places. I thought they seemed very nice. She just showed me all the details and explained how it can be used like, "OK, this kitchen was small, but you can expand it by doing this and around the corner." Of course, there's three meals a day, and I got to meet the chef, and she offered a right on the spot a meal, but I declined, so it was very nice. There were a lot of people in there and they looked alert, and that impressed me. Jennifer also pointed out that some people are in hospice care there, so there are all ranges of care even though it's mainly one category. One thing I loved about the place was that they have four or five companies they contract with, and a lot of them I talked with, and one of them was very pleasant. The staff showed me the amenities. There was an activity room, and they have a church service offered. A priest lives there, and for Catholic people who wants communion, he offers that each week, so that was nice. They have a variety of places for the seniors for activities. They not only have one movie room, but they have a couple of different rooms. It was nice, like there's a fireplace, it was spacious, and next to it is a nice-sized kitchen. On the first floor, they have balconies, and the staff said this is nice because there's a lot of shade here. She pointed out advantages of each. In the courtyard, there was a fountain, and they had the kind of items that seniors would want to see. They had some animals, they had a bush that was shaped like an elephant, and some items out there that seniors would enjoy."

"Carmel Village Retirement Community was a smaller facility. The amenities were nice, and had a homey feel. The grounds were well-kept, and moderate in size. The rooms were a little bit smaller. It's a newer facility, and the property that they had it built on was less. The dining room was set up nicely, but their hours were more restrictive in regards to eating. They had specific menus and times for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The social recreations were adequate. They appeared to have experienced staff that were social with the occupants. They're very unique in their own way even though it's smaller. "

"We went to Oakmont of Huntington Beach. It was a good tour. The place was on a larger scale and cost. Everything was beautiful, but my mom did not like the location. It was a little farther out than she wanted to be. The staff was very good. She was very thorough; it was a good hour-and-a-half tour, so we felt that we saw everything. We were able to see the dining room with people in it, and it was beautiful. They have a hallway exercise every morning where the residents come out in front of their rooms and do exercises. They had computer classes, which my mom really liked, crafts, cards, and there was a piano in the lobby. One thing that really appealed to my mom is that they had covered parking, because she's still driving."

"The visit I had here was nice. The facility itself was nice too. I just wanted something more spacious and maybe with more activities. They were more for people who do not get around as much, maybe with a wheelchair or walker. I just thought that I'm not there yet. Other people might need that, it's just not for me. The person who toured us did a good job though. They have a center patio with pretty flowers and a place to sit out there."

"My sister has been in Park Plaza since last year. She has a two-bedroom apartment. It's aging in place. When you move in your apartment is redone for you, So you get everything done. New floors, new paint, everything is new to you. The grounds are clean and it's homey. It's fine. They have a nice outdoor area. They have some form of an exercise program for seniors, and they have bingo, pinnacle, puzzles, and movies at night. They have a lot of the normal senior's activities. They offer you transportation as well to various places and a church on Sunday. They redid the entire kitchen, it was finished in September. I was there when I viewed it. They redid the kitchen there. The food seems to be fine, more than enough, you can even ask for half servings, which is nice if you're not a large eater so that the food is not wasted."

"I toured and the place is spotless and very pleasant. All the residents there seemed very happy to be there. The staff was very professional and very kind to the residents. It was not a large area but it was very pleasant. It was shaded with lots of chairs and umbrellas. They had raised flower beds for the residents to do some planting activity, so it's really nice."

"Capriana was still under construction when we went there. The staff that we were working with were phenomenal. The facility is phenomenal, their building is phenomenal, and so the cost is phenomenal. "

"I went to Harbor Terrace Retirement Community. They have three meals a day. They're like little apartments with a kitchenette. My parents liked it, but it's too expensive. It's like almost $5000 for them both to live there. I like that they make sure they took their medicines and that they took them right. They have three meals a day. The staff was friendly, and I liked them. Everything was clean, and they had lots of resources."

"It was very nice and clean. It didn’t smell like antiseptic or urine. It was scent-free, and I really liked that. It was in a good neighborhood, and it looked like it had plenty of activities. The rooms looked very nicely sized. The party room, library, and game room were very nicely appointed. The woman who assisted me was very nice, and I felt especially good about the fact that she was my agent, and I felt like she had a similar life experience with her own parents. So, that was a good match for me, and I knew she had an idea about senior living. "

"My aunt and uncle moved to Bayshire Yorba Linda. They can accommodate a lot of things. The grounds are kept clean and the atmosphere is very inviting. It was very spacious. It didn't seem like everything was kind of crammed in. The people that we met there were very helpful and very kind. We haven't run into any problems as far as helping my aunt and uncle. The food is very good. My uncle is not as social as my aunt. Even within memory care, they have a lot of activities to stimulate their brain, and to keep them busy. We've been very happy with the available activities. The value of memory care is awesome. It's pretty reasonable."

"The facility is top notch. Gorgeous surroundings and the staff is the best. I have a very difficult situation and they are helping me navigate it every step of the way! The rooms are beautiful and floorplan with 2 bedrooms is the largest I found which is very important to us. I am excited to have my parents in a safe, beautiful, caring environment. "
