"My dad moved into The Atrium at Oak Crest Residence. The people that work there have been really great. They're friendly. Whenever I had issues or things I needed to bring up, they addressed it right away. So, it's also relaxed. And they're always making sure that my dad is getting involved with stuff. He's not just sitting in his room. So, it feels like a small community. It's not a huge facility, so it feels like everybody knows everybody and they know what's going on. And I can talk to whomever, so I think it's been good. The facility is clean. There's an older part and a newer part, and it's well taken care of. But it's not like fancy or anything. So, it's a very basic place, which is fine. It's what my dad needed. So, if you're looking for something fancier, this isn't the place, but it is a good basic facility. It has a comfortable and laid-back atmosphere."

"We liked Grand Victorian of Crystal Lake, and they still keep in touch, which is kind of nice to know how they're doing. It's just that my dad does require some extra care. It's typically supposed to be one person assisting all the time, but he has at least two people assisting right now. I liked the size of the rooms. They're really nice. They made it feel more like an apartment than a room. Their dining room was very nice and well-kept. They had many servers. The food looked good. We did not eat it, but we were touring while they were eating, and it looked like it was very well maintained. Claudia did a great job with the tour and staying in touch. She's very kind, very caring, and took the time to show us everything we needed to see and answer all our questions."

"I went to Lake Barrington Woods. The lady who met us was very informative and very helpful. She took us on a tour of the facilities. They were very nice, very clean and very modern. We went to one room, which was a two-bedroom and it was very nice. She showed us about eight different floor plans. It seemed like they had a tremendous amount of activities all day. They had a varied menu for the meals. They offer breakfast and dinner every day, seven days a week. They offered a choice of outside parking or inside heated parking. They have a library and a courtyard and a very extensive fitness center. It's very nice and very modern, and the apartment she showed us had a very large kitchen that's well equipped and had large closets. They had a washer and dryer per room. The staff was very helpful, very patient, and very willing to take time for us. The building was very big, and the halls were very long. We did not have any meals, but she gave us a menu for that day and it was very extensive and had lots of choices. All the utilities are included plus they have a deal where you get a button to wear if you need it, so that in case you have an emergency, you just press the button and help comes."

"We went to visit Victory Centre of Bartlett and it had a nice atmosphere to it. The rooms were all decent. It was perfect if you wanted an assisted living facility. "

"I'm at The Oaks at Bartlett. The rooms and the layout are excellent. They are spacious. It has a large bedroom and a comfortable front room. The kitchenette is perfectly laid out for ease of use. The amenities are very comfortable and easy to access from your living quarters and they are top grade. The food is a five-star restaurant quality. The staff is very friendly, accommodating, informative, and a pleasure to work with."

"In 2024 I lost my husband unexpectantly and was living alone in a large house in Schenectady, NY. It had stairs I had fallen on twice when my husband was alive. My two children live in Chicago and were afraid of me falling again and getting hurt or getting sick and having no family close by. My closest siblings were two hours away. After looking at Brookdale Hoffman Estates and other senior communities near Chicago, Illinois, I decided Brookdale would be my new home. During the tour I saw residents socializing and using the amenities. When I moved in I was greeted warmly by staff and residents. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Many of the residents helped my first days be comfortable. I met so many residents and became friends with some. I did not know what to expect and was pleasantly pleased it was above my expectations. My two-bedroom apartment is comfortable and is what I was looking for. Staff listen and try to accommodate residents' requests. Everyone I meet is friendly including residents, staff and visitors. People from all walks of life and from many states live here. They say they like living here. Many stories are similar to mine. It is good to be around people who understand what I have been going through since my husband's death. I love the beautiful grounds and manmade pond with a fountain and walkway around it. My cat and small dog are adjusting well. I would recommend Brookdale Hoffman Estates to anyone looking for a senior community because that is what Brookdale is, a community."

"I visited Bickford of St. Charles. My daughter toured with me. The staff showed us around and spoke with us for an extended time. She wasn't in any hurry at all. She showed us the memory care. There were people doing games and keeping their mind going. I thought, " Wow. This is awesome." I visited the assisted living, and I was at the memory care, too. They were doing some kind of a game there to keep their memory going. The place was beautiful. They took us to a studio and a one-bedroom. They took us outside. They had a little garden there for the people, and they're growing tomatoes. They will use the tomatoes for their meals. This is just all so important to have a home-like atmosphere, and it definitely was. There was plenty of room for the person to entertain if they wanted to. There was plenty of rooms inside to sit at the table on the second floor, to play games, and to have visitors. The people were so nice. Everybody was so nice. They were really, really nice. However, they have a shorter term for respite care. The place was spotless, and their garden outside was beautiful."

"My tour of Brighton Gardens of St. Charles was amazing. I walked in the door and they greeted me. They had a little sign up there with my name on it. It was great. You felt like you were just part of their community. It was so nice. The person that gave me the tour was very knowledgeable, very kind, and answered all my questions. I was getting a little bit nervous about thinking about my mom needing more care and she was able to speak to me kindly and slowly. She just took her time with me and didn't rush me at all and made me feel like she cared. She shared her own experience about when she had to do this with her family member and how hard it was. She was just letting me know that my feelings were valid and that it was normal to feel that way. She was just very personable and she had a lot of empathy. The rooms were very clean. Each hallway has an assistant or caregiver/CNA and they check on the residents every 2 hours, even in the middle of the night to make sure they're OK. So, if they were to fall or if they were to need assistance, they wouldn't be waiting all night until the next day. So, it's called Eyes on You and I thought that was amazing. I talked to some of the residents there and they were friendly. They were dining and the food looked really good. They even told me that my mom was going to love the food there. They were raving about how good it was. They were all talking amongst each other and they said they're like a big family there. The community was kind of small. So, it seems like everybody knew everybody and they had a dog that lived there on the premises and people loved that. They have people who come in and do exercise classes. They said they have weekly activities. I saw that on the activity board and they have people who come and volunteer to come in and spend time with the residents to play games. So, they have a lot of people coming in to stimulate and to give the residents something to look forward to. The residents seemed happy. Every one of them. The ones that were sitting in the lobby with the dog or the people who were just hanging out by the TV and talking with the people that were eating. The assisted living side that I saw was very positive and I told my mom that when she's ready, this facility is amazing. It is. I would want my mom there."

"I toured The Grand Victorian of Sycamore. It was a very welcoming place, very bright, very clean, and had a lot of options. We had a very extensive visit and met a lot of the staff. We learned a lot of things. They were very helpful. The food wasn't the most delicious, but depends on your taste and what's offered that day. It was nicely done. It was a beautiful facility. It was extremely nice."

"The staff at the Heathers Senior Homes of Ringwood were all very helpful. The only thing that stopped us from choosing them was the location of the room. We didn't feel it was conducive for what we were looking for. Everybody was in their room or something, so I didn't see people engaging in anything. I think they just had lunch, so they probably all went for their naps."

"My mother will be moving into GreenFields of Geneva. We chose it mostly because of the location. It's very close to one of my other siblings. She'll be going to memory care. I like that there was a separate dining area like each area was separate. It looked like a smaller dining space for memory care and the unit itself was in a U-shape. They have nursing staff available 24 hours a day. The staff during the tour was great. She gave us a lot of information, was upfront, and has helped us through this process as we are starting the move. What they had to offer in terms of activities and the availability of physical therapy and speech therapy is five stars. We have to have a doctor prescribe that, but it's nice that it could be onsite."

"I visited Encore Village of Schaumburg. The staff was great. It was a pretty nice place. I had no problem. It was clean and convenient to get around. Everything was right there. You didn't have to walk them out to get here and there. The patio was clean and beautiful."
