Resnick Assisted Living and Memory Care

We really wanted to like Resnick but it was quickly obvious that there wasn't a reason to. Where to start? The care is meh; it is provided as part of their job. The care was rote and routine. Except for one or two people it is handed out without friendliness or warmth. My mother ran out of medicine and went without it for a few days before she told me and I got involved to order it. They forgot her insulin one night. The night time help is sparse and the response time is long. My mother called twice in the short time she was there and was scolded for doing so. There are no activities besides music and board games. They do nothing to encourage participation so game night ends up being a dud. There are no food options; it's either the given entree or a sandwich. The place, at first, seems nice, but when that wears off you realize that you are in a hospital setting, or a very sparse nursing home. There isn't anything done to make it feel homey. There weren't any turkey decorations or activities planned for Thanksgiving. There were a few Christmas and Hanukah decorations but again, nothing planned on the day. The residents are left to fend for themselves, which is difficult there because the residents aren't very nice. Not sure why everyone was surly, maybe they were all just very unhappy. I truly don't have anything nice to say about Resnick. There is just too much competition in Florida to accept a subpar facility. If your parent is in the least bit active, and needs good care, I'd strongly suggest looking elsewhere.
