My experience at Gardens Court was horrific. The aides were rude and rough and spoke little English instead talking among themselves in Creole. The gave the bare minimum of care and even turned their name badges around so you couldn’t see a name to report. The Nurse was uncaring and annoyed when I asked for anything. I was in excruciating pain and was not able to get my pain medicine when I needed it. I cried in pain most of the time. Bathing was sporadic and I was treated roughly and with no respect. I was there because of a total shoulder replacement and I had fallen on it and was in the most excruciating pain of my life. I met with the director twice who assured me he would talk with the staff and make sure I received my pain medicine in a timely manner. Nothing improved and I called a friend to come and get me out of there. The director told me I couldn’t leave because it would take a few days to get my discharge papers ready. I told him I was leaving AMA if he didn’t get the papers ready. Within an hour I got the discharge papers and left. I still have nightmares about being in Gardens Court. The only positive things about Gardens Court was that it was clean and the physical therapists were very kind. The physical therapists were aware of the poor/abusive treatment going on but couldn’t do anything about it. I did report them and my case manager came to visit and was refused access to my chart. I know there are worse rehabilitation facilities than Gardens Court but for me it was a nightmare.

Moore Care is like heaven here on earth. Everything is fantastic. I love it there and my husband does too. He has dementia so he thinks he works there. He was a security guard before therefore he thinks he’s security. He just fits in and loves the people there. I’m so happy to see my husband getting great care. I’ve seen the food too and watched them eat. It smells so good. They have activities there as well. They have art and play domino and bingo. Matter of fact, he runs the bingo. He thinks he’s in charge of it. It’s like another world for him and for me.
His room is gorgeous. He has a roommate, and they get along perfect. They have a TV in there. My husband has his nice bed, a dresser with all his clothes and stuff in there. It’s ALWAYS so neat when I go in there. In addition, Keisha is so caring and loving. She takes all of us like family. She calls me every day to make sure me and my sisters are fine, that I work on time and I get back home. She’s been asking about my sisters too. It’s difficult for me to be home alone without him but to drive up there and see that he’s happy, it makes me happy. I’ve never seen a place like this. It’s absolutely phenomenal.

COVID-19 Rules for Assisted Living in Palm Beach Gardens
Since most COVID-19 rules for Assisted Living Communities and other Senior Living Facilities are set at the state level, you can view the specific rules for your state on our Guide to Assisted Living in Florida. Keep in mind that every community has specific policies that they put in place to protect their residents, so you should contact your local community for more information. Additionally, you can contact your local Area Agency on Aging to learn more – find contact information here.
What to Consider About Assisted Living in Palm Beach Gardens
Florida’s Agency for Health Care Administration, Bureau of Health Facility Regulation, is responsible for the licensing and regulation of all long-term care facilities across the state, including assisted living communities. Each facility must undergo an inspection prior to licensure and an additional inspection every two years when applying for re-licensure.
Benefits and Drawbacks of Assisted Living in Palm Beach Gardens
There’s plenty for seniors of diverse interests to enjoy in Palm Beach Gardens. Home to the headquarters of the PGA, the region has numerous golf courses, and its proximity to beaches offers a variety of opportunities for active seniors to engage in outdoor recreation. Seniors may also enjoy an afternoon wandering through the city’s downtown pedestrian-only, open-air shopping district.
Seniors can get around the city using the region’s Palm Tran public transportation system. Both fixed-route and paratransit services are available, and seniors aged 65 and older are eligible for reduced fares.
Living in Palm Beach Gardens can be expensive. The overall cost of living index score is 125.4, which is 22% higher than the Florida state median and more than 25% higher than the U.S. national average. Seniors can expect their greatest expenses to be in the areas of housing, transportation and groceries.
Luckily for seniors, the state’s tax-friendly policies may help offset the city’s high cost of living. Florida seniors aren’t subject to state sales or inheritance tax, and income from all types of retirement accounts, including Social Security benefits, pensions, IRAs and 401(k)s, is tax-free.
Like many cities in Florida, Palm Beach Gardens is great for seniors looking to escape the snow and ice of northern climates. Winters are warm and sunny, with temperatures keeping above 55 degrees. However, summers can get extremely hot, and the area is prone to intense weather during hurricane season.
Violent crime rates in Palm Beach Gardens are low, which may offer seniors and their families peace of mind. Measured on a scale of 1 to 100, the city scores just 9.9 for violent crime, compared to the U.S. average of 22.7. Property crime rates are a little higher, though most facilities are equipped with security features such as 24-hour video surveillance.
In the event of an emergency, seniors have access to medical care at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center. The hospital’s specialized services include a Heart and Vascular Institute, orthopedics and joint replacement, a Certified Primary Stroke Center and rehabilitation.
