My father was at Bardmoor Oaks Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center after he broke his hip. It seemed very disorganized. The COVID protocols were not in place. If you went from 9:00 to 5:00, there's somebody in the front and you're supposed to sign in and take your temperature, but if you go after 5:00, the doors are closed to the facility and you have to go around the back to a random door you knock on and somebody lets you in and you just walk in. There's no checking COVID or anything at all. My dad caught COVID there. I get phone messages like three or four times a week that there have been COVID patients there. When he had COVID, they didn't have gowns or proper protective equipment or anything. It was ridiculous. He was vaxxed, so he had very mild symptoms. The food was a 1. I would go there every day and hang around and I know they were nice because I was hanging around. I can imagine if nobody hung around. They would forget to give him his tray and he couldn't say anything because he has dementia. We had to say, "Can my dad have a tray?" I also saw some crazy things. They had a patio in the center of it and a lady was sitting up there in her wheelchair, she just toppled over and she was screaming and nobody heard her. Another time, this man was sitting at the table and he was going, "Hey, hey, help, help me." Nobody paid attention and I said to them, "There's this guy out there who's been screaming help me for about a half an hour." They forgot he was blind and he didn't even have a cane. He was just stuck out there at that table yelling. It's ridiculous. You could always hear people yelling, "Help me, help me, help me." It was awful. My father didn't make any progress there. The staff tried, and I think part of it is they were very understaffed. Some of them were nice and some of them were just awful. They were charging like $350 a day, and it's crazy. He didn't make any progress in the several months he was there. What the staff told me is that PT would come in and go, "Do you want to do your exercise today?" and he'd say no and then they'd go, "OK, well, bye." I talked to them because he's not getting any better and they'd go, "Oh, no, no. He's doing his exercises every day." To this day, he can't stand up. I think a lot of it is dementia, too. It was like $350 a day for changing his diaper twice a day and sticking him in the dayroom.

My mother is staying at Bardmoor Oaks in Largo. It's called a rehab center but it also has short-term and long-term care. There are residents that have been there for quite a while, and there are ones that are only there for a certain amount of time. They just come and get their rehab done and then they are able to go home. It's a long-term care facility and it's something that my mom would need, but there's a lot of things going on that they screwed up and I'm trying to fix. The facility has certain areas that are really nice and they have nice people that work there. I know it's busy and that it's COVID, but when you have a man yelling from the toilet for almost two hours and they can't go in and help him out of it, to me that's pretty rude. You can dine there if that's what you want to do; I did a couple of times. The food is plain and bland, but so are most places, because you can't really give certain things to everybody. It looks very good. I didn't taste it myself a whole lot of times, but the few things I did were pretty decent. There are certain members of the staff that I would give a high rating to, others probably just a one. Some of them are really nice, and when they're working they're on top of the job and they do it quickly. Others just walk around for the most part. If a resident needs physical therapy, they'd go and take you there, or they'd come to your room. For value, I think we're overpaying and getting crappy service.

O.M.G My Father went there from the hospital in 2016 he has severe COPD. & Apnea In the week from hell that he was there. 1) He was placed in a room with a man that had C-diff 2) He did not get one breathing treatment. No respitory at all no cpap/bipap not even suction. 3) Brought dinner tray in for him hè was NPO. 4) He did not get a bath. I ask the Dr about the breathing treatments he said "no we dont do that we are not a hospital. Thats what a hospital does I ask about the cpap/bipap He sàid"I told you we are not a hospital" then he ask the charge nurse about respirattory she confirmed"They are not a hospital" I made arrangements for him to leave. I told the administration you really shouldnt take patients if you do not have respiratory "she said " We have respiratory" I told her you really should let the Dr. Charge Nurse and relevant employees know this is a service. As far as the C-Diff roomate his family said he was done with treatments.. It had a terrible impact on my Fathers health. In good conscience I could not and would not refer any person . The Nurses and CNÀ's some were better than others. What a nightmare!!!

I have found Largo Rehab & Spa for my husband. He’s been there for a while and seems to be happy with it. He is at a point where he needs complete nursing care, and I had heard from somebody else that it was a good institution. I’ve had a few issues with the laundry, but everything has been going OK. The problem with the laundry was the help doesn’t realize I want to do his laundry. I don’t want to send it out because every time it goes there, it gets lost. Other than that, the care has been very good. They have a physical therapy department that has been working with him in trying to get him to walk. They are also trying to get him to learn to swallow again and not have the problem of getting pneumonia, so he’s in a couple of good programs. The food is very good. I was really surprised because he’s been in three nursing homes and this has been the best by far. They have outsiders come in and run the food section who do a very good job with the food. He has had a swallowing problem so every thing he gets has to be ground up and pureed, and they have to put something in his drinks to thicken it because he can’t drink just any liquid. I think they need more people to take care of the residents, but the workers are very good, caring, and considerate.

My mother was here for 12 days - she NEVER received a shower the entire time! The aides are NOT friendly and only come to your room when they have nothing better to do - push your button and wait a couple HOURS & hope someone will eventually come. They took all of her clothes to be laundered and NEVER returned any of them - 11 outfits are gone! I always had difficulty trying to phone her room - they can never seem to make a connection. (I believe I got through once in 12 days.) I would have to drive there to see if she needed anything. Then, of course, the bill - surprise! I was told on day 12 that this care was NOT being covered by Medicare & was up to her. . . that's when I immediately removed her from the facility.

DO NOT send your loved one here. The lack of knowledge by staff of spreading life threatening staph and bacteria is so dangerous. My stepdad was feeling great and ready to leave. on day 19 (20 are paid my medicare) when they said he was Cdiff positive. They did not isolate other patient in his room that was sharing bathroom. Nurses were not knowledgeable that cdiff spreads by spores. Nurses insisted he was fine. I insisted he go back to hospital and he was dangerously dehydrated with bp lowered that put him back in hospital and rehab for months. They would not do his laundry after 10 days of complaints, Nurses and staff not knowledgable of preventing the spread of life threatening staph and bacteria. They do not take necessary precautions or disinfecting to protect patients

I had to rate 1 star just to post. Don't put your loved ones in this place. If your loved one can't take care of themselves, this is the most unsafe place to be. The administration is not interested in their patients safety or care beyond making sure they take the meds. No showers unless you complain. Food is horrible. Alarms going off all the time with no attention from the staff. This place is a joke.

BUYER BEWARE!! My father was in there following surgery. My sister was in there every day talking to the doctors, nurses and social worker. Whenever we asked about payment coverage everyone consistently said, “Oh, he has a 100 days covered unless Medicare decides he is no longer eligible.” We even met with the facility and a Medicaid representative to plan for if he would need to stay in the facility after his Medicare was terminated. AT NO TIME DURING THESE VISITS OR MEETINGS DID ANYBODY EVER MENTION THAT OUR FATHER WAS BEING CHARGED A $150 PER DAY COPAY AFTER THE FIRST 20 DAYS OF MEDICARE!! The day after Medicare said he was no longer eligible we had him discharged. Imagine our surprise to receive a bill for over $2800 for copay that apparently started on day 21 until his discharge. Also imagine our surprise that we didn’t receive this bill until August 1st when the days being billed were for the last part of May and the early part of June before we got him out. Also as an FYI, Renee in the billing office may possibly the rudest person I have ever had the misfortune to meet.

This was the worst experience we have ever had. My husband is diabetic - we couldn't get anyone to take his sugar test before meals or give him the correct insulin. Was there for over a week and only received one diabetic meal. Had problems getting anyone to address leg wound that he didn't have when he arrived at the facility.

My husband stayed in Largo for a little over a year. The care is average. The food is not so good, and it’s a little disorganized. The staff is not consistent; some days good and some days, it’s a disaster. However, it was cleaner than the other places.

A terrible place. Extremely dirty - very poor quality food - necessary items like wash cloths and towels only available upon request - large spider on floor next to my bed - a horrible experience. Physical therapy people very nice and a couple of the nurses. Don't go there or send anyone there.

This place was terrible. My mother was there for rehab for a broken hip. She received terrible care. The food was disgusting. We had to bring her meals every day because the food they gave her was so bad. No fresh food, no healthy vegtables. Her bed was broken. They did change her for an entire day.

Wow!! after reading these reviews I recommended this to my parent. Horrible care and the administrator is a nasty guy. Beware!! We pulled her out in 24 hrs to a facility that may not have been as pretty but they actually took care of the health issues.

I chose this facility for my mother because I always told her I wouldn't put her in a nursing home. She went to an acute rehab hospital one time but they dischared her before she was ready. The next time rehab was suggested, I kept my word sort of by placeing her at Largo Rehab and Spa. She got great care and services. When she went home her functioning was far superior. I saw something on another review about the "lack of" spa services. That's because it's the spa approach that one consumer wasn't seeing. The staff answer call lights quickly and they're very focused on the little things, the requests and desires. They pampered my mom to the point she wanted to stay past her period of insurance covereage.

My sister was a resident here and had been in like 6 different nursing homes in the last year . This is the ONLY Facility that i believe in the area that truely understands people with Alzheimer's . The staff was always great and would always take the time to talk with the family and was a godsend to my sister . She was always clean and and dressed properly . They would always call and let me know about even the least little change in her . Scott Elsass was always a phone call away . You could tell that the staff there had been properly train to deal with all aspects of this disease . My only regret is that i wish i would have heard about Largo Rehab & Spa sooner . I would like all the staff to know just how much the family appreciated there kindness .
