"I like the inside design of The Oaks of Clearwater. The view from the window is on the water. I like the activities that are available. They have Bingo, music, painting, and art classes. "

"Sunstar Village is an awful place. It's small. I think they have like maybe 30 people. They can only handle up to 50, but they are about half full, and I can see why. The place is old and dingy, and they have very limited staff. I found that the security is not very good. They did offer me a private room with a nice bathroom, but everything is older. I met the owner. He was in his office, and he's a young guy. It needs a lot of help. It's pretty run-down. I saw a lot of residents in wheelchairs slumped over. I saw that in every room. I didn't find it to be very inviting or anything like that. The staff was kind of distracted, like she didn't really want to give the tour, even though I scheduled it. She obviously forgot because I showed up and she asked me why I was there. She was nice enough, but not upbeat, just kind of going through the motions. All I saw was the outside place where the smokers go. They have an activity room that doubles as a dining room. They don't have a separate wing for memory care. They mix them all up."

"I liked Grand Villa of Clearwater. The staff was nice. The area was nice. The rooms were a good size. We liked it a lot and it was probably a recommended place. It was a very nice, friendly atmosphere. All the residents were very nice that we interacted with."

"We (I) have adequate room, wish I had a garage to tinker around in but there's a craft room, a wood shop and a workout room I can get to if I get tired of just sitting. The food is good, prepared well and served by many personable young people; one has to remember it's institutional food, like High School lunches, and after a few years you find you need to go out and eat something with a pop of spice. Staff is great, housekeeping is wonderful and the eye appeal of the grounds is beyond reproach."

"I loved the location of American House St. Petersburg. I loved the newness of it. It didn't seem to have a lot of residents there at the time. Maybe they were in their rooms or going out. I was impressed with the newness and cleanliness of it, but the price was too expensive. The dining area was excellent. Everything looked excellent because it was so new."

"Stratford Court is very nice, very clean, and beautiful. My parents will have two bedrooms, two baths, a full kitchen, washer and dryer, living room, dining room, and a screened-in patio. The staff was very friendly and compassionate. They have shopping, trips to casino, malls, and stores. They have games, crafts, and cooking lessons. "

"I liked Coral Oaks. It's very nice. The rooms were very spacious, very pretty, very bright, and very clean. They have everything. They have a gym. They have a pool. They have a screening room. It looked spotless. It is close to a little shopping center, it's close to Publix, there's a crafts store and a shoe store very close by."

"Addington Place at College Harbor was very nice, and I loved it, but it was out of my price range. The staff was friendly, said hello, and smiled. The amenities that I wanted were there. It's right on the water and had a fishing dock and equipment, so I don’t have to buy a fishing pole. It seemed like the staff was overworked."

"The staff and the quality of care that Brookdale Bayshore provides for the residents stood out to me. I had a direct experience because I had an 86 year old cousin that resided there for a year and a half before she passed. I had lunch there, and the food was good. You have a choice because they have a selection. They have a selection plus a salad bar and wine for dinner. They have the quality of care plus the extra-curricular activities that they provide the client. On Fridays in the afternoon, they have a community happy hour. They either have a pianist that comes in or another musician, and they have music provided at that time. I was very happy with the tour. "

"We visited Tampa Gardens Senior Living. They're remodeling everything, so there are a lot of rooms that have been updated, so that was nice. The dining room was nice. Their activity room was nice. It was well done, well-appointed, and updated. The dining area looked more like restaurant dining. There were tables, nice little napkins and plates, and glasses on the table. It was very well presented."

" The owner is really friendly and helpful. She kept the place neat and clean. She really care about her residents and she goes beyond and above to make her residents feel at home. "

"It is a very big community. They have several floors. It is the best one I've visited. It's very clean and very well structured. The staff was very nice and seemed to be concerned about our situation. However, in the end, they couldn't help us because of my brother's criminal record in the past. The dining area was set up like a hotel. The private room was nice and roomy, and it had a bathroom. The residents all seemed happy and engaged in whatever activity they were doing."

"I toured The Meridian at Brandon. It was very overwhelming. It's a very large facility and it's incredible. It's beautiful and very well decorated because it's geared more towards people who are non-dementia patients who expect to be able to take care of themselves for the most part. They offer different levels of care, but they also charge for those different levels of care, and that was one thing I did not like. It could get very expensive very quickly. It was very tall and very, very long. They had hundreds of units there, but they had lots and lots of scheduled activities. The scheduled activities were just out of this world. They had chef-prepared meals and stuff like that. The only thing is that, because my mother has COPD and she can't walk very far, that was the downfall of the place. Just to go eat in the dining room, if her room wasn't down the hall from the dining room, she would have to take an elevator and then walk all over the facility, which is ginormous. They had studios, one-bedrooms, and then they had two-bedroom companion suites, so they had a lot of floor plans to choose from. The staff who toured us was very professional. Everyone that I encountered was very professional. It's not as friendly or family-oriented as with the other place because they were a very large community. The price was out of my mother's range. They catered more to affluent individuals and couples. "

"I am currently at Paradise Island, and it is a 55+ mobile home community. They have a community center, planned activities, and a pool. They have water aerobics, bingo twice a week, a bowling team, and various entertainment throughout the year at the clubhouse. They are all single-family homes. This is not an apartment building. This is 800 privately owned homes."
