My father was a resident at Amazing Care Assisted Living, a small home like clean facility. Prior to and upon his admission we were told that the "owner" is present all of the time with the exception of half a day Sunday. This apealed to me since I believed being the owner along with offering the care to the residents he would take a true personal interest in the well being of each resident, and he did. The owner did a wonderful job with activities often scheduling a live one man band, offering board games that were interesting such as Wheel Of Fortune etc. and encouraged the residents participation. There were birthday parties for each resident with cake and a special meal. Not a day went by that the owner did not use his friendly outgoing personality to make all of the residents chuckle with his jokes one after another. The residents appeared very happy. It was wonderful in the beginning as the owner was present both day and night including around the clock sleeping at the facility in a small room on the premises. The owner uses a baby monitor to listen during the evening hours for residents that may be in need of assistance etc. and he does respond appropriatly in a timely fashion. It was a great experience in the beginning when the owner was present as promised. The fellow residents both male and female were all very friendly and welcomed dad with open arms and that closeness never ended while dad was there, the residents were great, friendly and cared very much for each other. A short time following my fathers admission the owner was absent more than present being gone for long periods of time and having CNA's covering both night and day. The most frequent CNA cared for the residents well but lacked personality and rearely smiled. It was a much different environment when the owner was not present, there were little if any activities and the residents just sat around and watched TV, they voiced their unhappiness with the "fill in staff" This continued on and the overall experience in the home became less than cheerful. The owner still came in a few days a week and then residents were happy, there was energy present but then when he left it was very uneventful. I cannot recall many activities being offered while he was away. No matter who was on staff the residents were always clean and appeared to be nicely dressed. The residents spent most of their days in the living room area watching TV. The meals seemed to consist of Chicken more often than the menu presented but there was always dessert offered and aside from the meals the residents could keep goodies of their own in the kitchen area but when the owner was away many of the residents did not feel comfortable enough to ask for their special "goodies" as they were made to feel that they were a bother. My overall review of Amazing Care is when the owner is present is is truely a great homelike experience for the residents but once the owner is gone I would not reccomand placing your loved ones here unless they are high functioning because it is mostly sitting around with nothing to do. I do not believe the activities schedule nor the menu is followed by the "fill in staff"
