"We liked that the people at Presidential Place were extremely friendly and helpful. Carlos is the marketing director, and he's bent over backwards trying to be accommodating. We liked the available rooms. They looked nice, clean, and organized. My brother does not need help with bathing, eating, and all that stuff. He's pretty self-sufficient. He just can't remember things, and we felt that Presidential Place was a better fit than the other two facilities I visited in that regard. They invited us to stay for lunch. One thing that was really nice was that they had a kind of special menu for the day, but they also had choices, so the residents could choose what they wanted to eat off a broader menu. The food was well-prepared. Everything was good. We intended to attend several of the events they have for residents. Unfortunately, a piece of equipment wasn't working. So, we were sort of limited on what we could do there. The only activity that we participated in was bingo; that part was disappointing, but things happen. They were more than willing to have us come back on another day, but since I live in Nevada, my brother is in Florida, I have to plan things around my trips. They have a refrigerator. Some of the apartments have one that's about half height, and some have a full height refrigerator. It's not quite as wide as you would find in a normal residence. Then there's a microwave. Primarily, those were the things the apartments have. They don't have a stovetop or a range. They're probably concerned someone might have a problem. The bathrooms were nicely done, with walk-in showers and stuff, and reasonably good storage space in the closets. The one thing that stood out there was relative to Carlos. The reason for that is that when he was young, he had a major brain injury. He has issues with memory himself. So, he can relate to the potential resident in such a way that most people can't because they don't live the experience. That was beneficial for both my brother and me. The other thing is my brother likes to walk, and one of the other places we went to talked about it's all right to go out for a walk as long as they check out and everything, but if they have one memory lapse, then they end up in memory care forever. Your whole circumstance would change. When we were talking with Carlos, he said, "No, we try to take the time to evaluate the patient because everyone's problems are a little bit different. We don't just force them into memory care permanently anyway; they might get there temporarily, but not permanently.", and I appreciated that. The building was superb. Everything was in the proper place. Everything was clean. Everybody in there was helpful and courteous. It was just fantastic. Out of the three places I visited, it stood out in a good way. It's a smaller facility, so that probably works as an advantage for the residents as well."

"The Palace At Weston is truly a terrific place. The staff really cares and there are so much to do. My parents have been happy there since they opened four years ago. I have great peace of mind knowing that my loved ones while taken care of."

"I toured The Peninsula Assisted Living & Memory Care. It was clean and spacious, and the individuals seemed happy there, which is something I don't see normally, so they seemed very well-served. The staff was great. She was very informative and spent two hours with me, which I appreciated. They offer activities and food, and their menu looks great. They have a hair salon and offer a lot of facilities. Their dining area needs a little more space."

Abbey's Caring Residence is a family-owned facility that prides itself in quality above all. Abbey's is recently under new management with a new sense of freshness. Our community looks and feels like home, and not an industrialized facility. We take our food very seriously, providing 3 meals a day plus snacks whenever one is hungry. There is no such thing as not receiving food when one is hungry. Our menu is vibrant and healthy. We have a full-time cleaner constantly ensuring that our facilities are at a high level of cleanliness. We have caregivers on site 24/7 to assist with all matters, from showering, dressing, eating, ect. We provide medication management and ensure that our med techs are constantly being trained through our pharmaceutical professionals. We provide complete laundry services. We are extremely grateful to have the most caring and professional administrator, Sandra. She truly ensures that all are happy, safe, and healthy. "I went to Springtree Senior Living. I thought they were very customer friendly and very thorough. The eating facilities, the amenities, the upgrades, the furnishings, and their decorations were outstanding. It's a really nice facility parents-wise. They even welcomed us by putting our names on the little board that says, "For 12:30 appointment, we welcome Jeff and Sonia," and so forth, and I just thought that was a nice touch. I really, really enjoyed that tour."

"I live in Villa Rio Vista. It's a very nice place. They let me handle my medications a little bit more freely than most places because I work a job, and I have to take them with me. They don't require me to be here when they give them to me. They leave them in a package, and then I take them when I come home from work a little bit later at night. We're free to come and go as we please. I like that we're located near stores, Jimmy John's, Burger King, and Dunkin' Donuts. We also live near a Walgreens. It is centrally located. We have an extra TV room. I don't take part in much of the activities, but we have that. We have upstairs and downstairs. It's not quite like a house. It was converted from an apartment building to assisted living. It's probably the nicest one in this town. The staff is excellent. They always take care of us and always ask if we need help. If someone has a little trouble going out and getting sodas or something, the staff will buy the sodas. He'll go out of his way to make sure we're happy. The facility is excellent, and it's landscaped nicely. It's lovely. I think it's worth the money because utilities are included, and we have a refrigerator in our room, TVs, and an extra activities room. I just think this place is top-notch. They treat me well."

"The staff at Cherry Oak Active Senior Living Residence was very nice. The facility was very clean. The memory care section was adequate. They had a movie room, arts and crafts, and a beautiful garden outside. The dining room was lovely."

"Miami Gardens Manor, Inc. was a nice facility. The people were nice and accommodating, but the quarters were pretty small. The residents there seemed to be doing fine and everything, but it wasn't a good fit for my brother. They serve meals, and everyone gets the same thing. So, on any particular day, the menu is the menu. It's not one with choices. For the tour experience, they showed us the whole facility. We even had an opportunity to talk to a couple of the residents. It was very well done. There was nothing negative about the visit; it just wasn't something that felt like the right fit. The person who toured us did everything possible to make sure that we understood where things were, how they worked, what the facility was, and how it looked. One thing I like is that my brother likes to go for walks, and the area that Miami Gardens was in would have provided a nice area for him to walk. There were nice walkways and everything. It was pretty nice. There's not a lot of commercial activity right near it. It was very clean."

"My father was a memory care resident for 2.5 years. We couldnt have asked for better care and a better staff. Truly the best in Florida. Keith truly cares and is the nicest guy in the world. Every staff member treated my father with dignity. Even during covid when I couldnt see my father in person I didnt have a worry in the world knowing he was in good hands. "We met a lot of staff at Belmont Village Fort Lauderdale. It was a beautiful facility. It might have been tough for me to be there even if we could have afforded it, because they have a lot of glass windows on their top floor, and a lot of that creates problems for me with the glare. We still liked them a lot, and we were impressed with them, but the cost was not doable, so it's not for me. The people were very nice and very helpful. We met the chef and somebody else. When we went in there, we were aware of the security quite early, because they gave us name tags and they wanted to see our ID, that kind of stuff. They were very impressive. The other thing we were interested in was their food provider."

"We visited the independent living community of Independence Hall. It's an older building, but it's very nice and they have renovated the entire place. The staff was very pleasant and very knowledgeable. We had lunch there, too, and the food was excellent. The rooms themselves were very nice. We looked at a 1-bedroom and a 2-bedroom apartment. You bring your own furniture in."
