Assisted Living Communities in Fort Myers, FL

"My father-in-law moved into Brookdale Cape Coral. It's immaculate, and everybody there is more than helpful to us. They are all amazing, from housekeepers to nurses and financial staff, managers, and assistant managers. He has a studio, and it's fairly spacious. We have a lot of furniture that we got in there for his comfort, but it's very comfortable. He has a little kitchen area, microwave, and refrigerator, so he can have things for himself that he likes. He had his laundry done, and he said it was exceptional. They bring everything in, and they hang it. The medical staff answers his questions. They give him what he needs. The kitchen people, he doesn't eat breakfast, so they bring him coffee to his room. They're simply amazing. They have sitting places all along the corridors, every so many doors down, they have couches, chairs, water, and dispensers. So if any of the people get tired, since he's in a walker, they can sit. It's got a beautiful living room. The dining room is like something out of a hotel dining area, and their garden is awesome, where they can walk. They're insistent on making the residents participate. He didn't want to go to meals, but they're insistent and say you have to go to meals. When we did our prior walkthrough, we saw several residents in their exercise area, which they do daily. And if he needs something additional, they will accommodate. They have bingo and other activities. They also have an impressive military veteran room with a TV and a couch with the veterans' pictures hanging on the walls or shelves. They're very appreciative and thankful for the military and any service members they have as residents. They have a happy hour on Fridays and outings. In comparison to a nursing home and some of the other assisted living that we've looked at, it's very, very reasonable."

"Canterfield of Fort Myers is a relatively new place. It's very nice. The room was small. My relatives were going to have a unit together in the memory care. They would keep my sister-in-law in memory care and my brother-in-law would be able to be out and about, giving him time to mingle with the regular guests there, so that was a very doable thing. However, it was expensive. The dining area looked very appealing and very adequate, but they didn't have any choices. What was posted is what you'll have, whereas the other place had at least two choices per meal. They had a pool, they had a lot of exercise and activity rooms, and it was pretty spacious. The staff member who gave the tour was very nice."

"We toured a number of Independent and Assisted Living facilities to find the best place for my Dad. The Galley at Cape Coral was and is the perfect fit for him. The staff is helpful and friendly, the amenities are amazing and his new apartment is exactly what we were looking for. We couldn’t have found a better place for our Dad to thrive and feel at home."

"I toured The American House Coconut Point. They have 112 units for assisted living, 36 units for memory care, and 56 units for independent living, and that proportion just seemed to be off. The tour experience was very thorough. The young man who took me around knew his business. He was very cordial. However, my first impression when I walked in is, "This doesn't feel right." I've had enough experience now, and so I know where I don't fit in. The upkeep was fine. In any place I went, I didn't see anything that suggested it wasn't being taken care of. All of them were all taken care of. However, the rooms looked tired. Several of the rooms we went into were empty, because somebody had moved out or somebody was moving in. They were in the process of being fixed. There were closet doors in two of the rooms that were off track. They have a breakfast room and a bistro. They would provide two meals a day if you are independent. They have a salon onsite. There are paths for walking. Yet, for me, it is just a place I wouldn't move into."

"We toured Alva Senior Living. I went and looked at all the rooms and what they have. We met with the director of the senior living section. We just walked through the whole thing, and she told us all about it, and we asked questions, and she answered all of them. The rooms were small, but they're very nice. They furnish everything except a mattress. So you don't have to bring your own furniture. They have rooms with big bathrooms and rooms with small bathrooms. We toured the dining area. They only have five people right now, and they're only gonna have a total of 16 when they're full. It's a very small unit. It was as clean as it could be. They have a big common room on the front of the building, and at one end is the dining room, which has a big long table with chairs, and it was decorated with fresh roses. It was very pretty. I didn't actually go into the kitchen, but I talked to the cook who was standing at the door, and she said they cook everything there. They don't buy any premade stuff. They have an area where, if somebody wants something during the day, like a snack or something to drink, or if they want something to eat, they can go and request it, and they can get it during the day if they want that. The staff was really good, answered our questions, and were very friendly. They're new, so they're just getting started. It was very nice."

"I have already chosen American House Bonita Springs. I just signed all the papers. I'm still in the process of getting furniture moved in and cleaning out my house. I like the location, the upkeep of the whole unit, and the people. They have all of the appliances included. I'm very pleased with the building. They offer breakfast and dinner."

"My dad has been here for a few weeks now, and he's happy there. I'm pretty happy with the place too. He has a nice apartment, and the residents are generally happy. Some days are different from the others, but the last time I was there, I heard people laughing. It was like a big party and dad loves it. He's very happy to have company, and he's getting everything he needs. The staff members are all very nice and cheerful, and they seem to enjoy their jobs. There's also longevity within the staff. Some of them have been there for a long time. He likes the food so far. They said he eats all of it and finishes his plate. The building was recently remodeled, like a year ago, so it looks good. He just has a closet door that could be in a little better shape, but that's not a big deal. It's all been remodeled, so it's nice, clean, and neat, and the bathroom looks good and modern. They do have activities every day. Some days it's bingo, then it's something else other days. Dad is very interested in that. It's perfect for the memory care residents. The decor is kind of weird, though; like in the hallway off to one side, there's a crib with a few baby dolls in it and they look realistic. It seems kind of weird to normal people but I get it. You have babies and that's something that everybody could relate to, and then over in the other hallway, they have a little tool area set out. So it's like a little bit of this and a little bit of that, but it's interesting and seems conducive to keeping them amused."

"I went to Naples Green Village, but they don't take Medicaid. The person who walked me around was very knowledgeable. It was very nice. If I could afford it, I would put my mom there. It was clean. It was well-run and very nice. The staff was very friendly, very knowledgeable, and patient. The rooms seemed to be kept in good condition. The dining area was beautiful and very nice. It was clean. It was put together, and it was inviting. You felt like you were in a restaurant. I know that they have a daily activity board, but I didn't really look."

"The rooms are great. My brothernlaw is there and my fathernlaw was there. The staff is great but the only complaint i have is they need to fix the ceiling fans out on the porch or get something to help cool off the porch where the residents smoke cause when we come to visit it's to hot to sit out there. They need something to help cool it off or replace the ceiling fans. Other wise I enjoy coming to visit my brothernlaw. You guys are awesome."

"We will move into Seascape at Naples. It's two bedrooms, two baths, plenty of room, very much like where we're coming from, and we have an end unit. My husband's a veteran, so we got quite a discount. It just has everything we need and want. It's more like a home. Everything is supplied. You also have breakfast and lunch, breakfast and dinner, or dinner and lunch. They take you to the doctor if you need it, and they have trips. They have all kinds of things going on every day that would be good for my husband. Everything that interests us. We've looked around a lot, and this is our favorite. Grace and Carrie were both wonderful."

"I thought Brookdale Punta Gorda Isles was excellent for senior living. I thought everything was great. The rooms were of a nice size. I like their kitchenettes and their very friendly staff. I thought everything was wonderful. I was greeted nicely at the front entrance, and I was given a nice tour. The people are very friendly and courteous. The place was very clean. It seemed like the property was well-kept."

"I liked the layout of Colliers at Naples Assisted Living a lot, and I liked the events. It was kind of around the hurricane time, and I was happy that it was a safe place. It was all fine. Nothing had happened. It just seemed organized. The staff was very nice and helpful, with a lot of information. It had room to entertain. It is the one I chose partly because it was closer to me. I liked the apartment better than the other place. Unfortunately, the one they had available wasn't the one I wanted."
