Situated in the heart of Kentucky’s Bluegrass region, Lexington is the second-largest city in the state. It rightly claims the title “Horse Capital of the World.” Horse paddocks enclosed in pretty white fences are a common sight, as are the wealth of activities related to horse breeding and riding. Keeneland is one of the finest racecourses in the world, and Red Mile is equally popular with harness racing fans. Lexington’s other attractions include the childhood home of Mary Todd Lincoln and the Aviation Museum of Kentucky.

As people get older, daily tasks can become more difficult. Assisted living facilities are one solution for independent seniors who need help in some areas, such as cleaning rooms and preparing meals. Figures published in the Genworth 2020 Cost of Care Survey show the typical monthly cost of assisted living in Lexington is $4,400. Although this is significantly more than the state average of $3,699, it’s only $100 above the national average of $4,300.

This guide covers assisted living costs in more detail and discusses some advantages and disadvantages of living in Lexington. It also lists some examples of resources suitable for people considering moving into an assisted living community.
