"The Willows at Hamburg is more of a nursing home. The residents have their own rooms to live in, but they're not apartments. The staff was quite nice, welcoming, and explained things as they showed us around. They have activities in one of the big fellowship rooms. I didn't like that there was a distinct smell of nursing home in the private rooms. They gave me a little welcome cake when I came in."

"My brother seems very happy at Lexington Premier Nursing and Rehab. He has a private room there and he's getting physical therapy every day. He's just improving by leaps and bounds. He was just laying in the bed at the other facility, dying, because they wouldn't help them do anything, but everything about Lexington Premier Nursing and Rehab is good. He's been well taken care of. The food's decent and again, he's getting a lot of physical and occupational therapy, and he's doing well there. It's clean and all the people that work there are nice and willing to help you with everything. They have little areas that you can sit around, like a conversation area with a cell phone, a TV, and stuff like that, if you want to get out of your room. I don't think they have any planned activities, but I've seen people in a certain area. One of the ladies had a birthday and she had balloons tied to her wheelchair, and people were out there with her during that. My brother's a picky eater, but I've seen the food when they bring it to him and stuff and I don't think it's bad. The facility is very nice. The room is big and it's got a dresser in there and a TV. It's like a bedroom."

"My grandma moved to Windsor Care Center. They've had great communication, they listened well, and have been very attentive to my grandmother's needs. The facility looks nice overall, but some of it looks way older and a bit more rundown than the rest. I had not tasted the food, but my grandmother did, and she sent me many pictures, and they look really good. She hasn't actively participated due to her physical capability right now, but there are a lot of activities for the people, and she's seeing people doing many things."

"I chose Bourbon Heights because it is very close to my home. The facility is clean and well-kept. The staff there seems to care for their residents. My mom has a feeding tube now, so I really can't tell about the food they serve there. "

"We went ahead and put mom in a nursing facility called Northpoint Lexington. The staff is fair. I think it is good. My mom is constantly complaining though. She complains about everything which is probably part of her Dementia. They have several activities throughout the day. Mother just chooses not to participate in a lot of them. She loves the bingo part, and she'll go to the church services and bible studies there, but other than that she just doesn't want to. There is a beauty salon there, and she'll get her hair done tomorrow. They have arts and crafts daily, but you have to stay on them because I had to get on them a few times to do this and do that. I don't think they're understaffed and overworked. "

"I highly recommend Tanbark Rehabilitation and will go again, if needed, without reservation. I was at Tanbark Rehab following a shoulder replacement. The staff is wonderful! They helped with everything I needed. I was unable to shower by myself and the assistants that helped me made me comfortable. The nurses were professional and caring. The rehabilitation staff were amazing. The PT and OT staff were knowledgeable and engaging. I looked forward to that part of my day. Everyone I meet from the doctors to housekeeping, front office, administrative staff and dietary staff made me feel comfortable and cared for. My only complaint is their medication system. Their pharmacy is in Louisville. Enough said."

"The Willows at Citation was a beautiful building. It's in a quiet neighborhood and it does not look like a nursing home inside or outside. I told my friend it was more like a hotel. We have not seen the room where she's going to be, but we have seen similar rooms and one of the girls even sent us pictures, too, to show her. Jaden was very accommodating and answered all of our questions. Last week, she even came to my friend's house and talked with her. If we pass staff in the halls, most of them stop and talk to us. Even the CEO was out and about and he stopped and talked with us. The dining area looks like a restaurant. It's very nice, very clean, and has lots of room. So, that was a plus. I haven't seen all of the facilities, but they have physical therapy, occupational therapy, a beauty shop, and a full-time nurse. It's just top-notch."

They are kept in tip-top shape; very clean & designed for utmost safety. Food is great. They have different price scheduled for each building. Apartments are on a sliding scale. "

"A group from my church performed a mini-concert at Telford Terrace in the spring of 2010. I had been involved in scheduling the concert, and found my interactions with the program director at the facility to be polite and professional at all times. We felt very welcome to be there, both from the residents and from the employees. Speaking to some of the residents, it was clear that they enjoyed their day-to-day routine and lifestyle at the facility. The regular opportunities to engage in activities and socialize were recognized by everyone I spoke to, and our church group later discussed amongst ourselves how impressed we were with how busy everyone seems to be. The standards of cleanliness were high and the atmosphere was very warm and welcoming. The size and quality of the rooms we got to see were impressive, and I made a rough favorable comparison in my mind to the facility my grandfather resides in near Canton, OH. "

"My wife has dementia and she's in a nursing home at The Willows at Fritz Farm. It turns out her condition is such that she's only eligible for skilled nursing. She could not be in assisted living, so I moved her to a semi-private room which is more in line with my long-term healthcare insurance. Right now, she's happy. It's a good nursing home. I'm happy with it. They're really good. I'm very impressed with them. The community includes assisted living as well as rehab and skilled nursing. It's a mix. She's there for long-term care. The staff has been wonderful. I'm there several times a week, and I know a lot of them by name. I have never come across anybody that was anything but very concerned, very pleasant, and very competent. It's been a good experience. They do a good job. They have single and double rooms. She was in a single room, which was a good-sized room, then I moved her to a semi-private. In her current state, I think she needs more activity around her rather than being in a single room because she doesn't interact very much anymore. They've done a good job of getting her a compatible roommate and they care for her. My wife is not able to participate in many activities. She likes art, so they did a lot of art. They've got games for people who are more able to participate. They do word searches and that type of thing. Under normal conditions, when they're not under a pandemic, they've always had a lot of activities to stimulate the minds of the residents. Once in a while when I go in, she's working individually with one of the recreation people and they have her doing something. They've got the therapy and they work with her every day. She's not using her arms anymore, and her hands are clamping up and they work on that every day. They have a beauty salon, a library, and two dining areas, one's a little bit smaller and one's large. They have entertainment every Friday afternoon and happy hour where they serve a little wine and they've got a musician coming in and playing. They try to do things to keep everybody occupied. Right now is not a good example because every nursing home is having a staffing issue. They've had a lot of turnover because of COVID, but I've been very impressed with the people they've brought in. It's a good place. It's not cheap, but I would rate everybody top-notch. I could not be more pleased and everybody that I've talked to and when our kids come down from Chicago, everybody is just happy as they can be under the circumstances with the care she's getting. I feel like I've gotten the best place in town. I like everything. I always wish it was less expensive, but if I thought that it was not a good value, I could move her someplace else, and I haven't done that. I've been in enough nursing homes where you smell urine when you go in, and you don't ever smell anything in that nursing home."

"My mother has been a resident at Lexington Country Place for two years now. Because of her dementia, it was no longer safe for her to live alone. I did a lot of research before placing her at Lexington Country Place. I wanted specialized care for her medical conditions, and a friend of the family recommended Lexington Country Place to us. I was happy with their long standing place in the community and how long they have been providing care. They have great administrators that help get the process started, and who are very knowledgeable and were able to answer all of my questions. When I initially took a tour and saw the nursing staff in action I knew that my mother would be well taken care of, and I knew that the staff were well educated and would be able to give her the care she needed. I visit my mother very frequently, and whether she is having a good day or bad day in regards to her dementia, the staff is always patient and kind to her. I am very happy with our decision to use Lexington Country Place. "

"Homestead Nursing and Rehab Center is a really great nursing home facility. I think that the staff really care for the residents, and take care of both their physical and emotional needs. I was very impressed with the manner that my mother was cared for, and I knew that she was getting the best level of care in the area. I have toured other facilities in the Lexington area and I found the Homestead Center one of the friendliest and most well managed. I also have experience with this facility because my great aunt received rehabilitation services here after her knee surgery. She was able to regain confidence, strength and mobility after a very challenging surgery, and the staff was very understanding. You could tell that they identified with her, and that they were experienced in their craft. If you are in the Lexington area and you are trying to find nursing or rehabilitation for someone you care about, take a tour or talk to the administrators at Homestead. They will be able to give you options and answer your questions. "

"My mother resided at this facility and received excellent care. The staff was outstanding and always greeted my family and I with a smile on their face. The staff always informed and involved me with my mother's care. Her favorite part of the day was mealtime. She enjoyed bingo and getting her nails painted with activities. If you are looking for a place for your loved one to reside, I would highly recommend Madison Health and Rehab. "

"My mom is at Cardinal Hill Home Care. It is a wonderful place. From all their therapies and their nursing staff, they are very attentive to patients. We always have good results when she's been here to move on to her next step. The food is great. My mom loves it. I try it now and then and it's always very good. And they do a very good job of balancing diet for her. If she's hungry in between meals, she can call the kitchen and get anything that she wants. And then they advise her on what will fit in with her dietary needs for cardiac and for her being a diabetic. Everybody that works here, from the nursing staff to the doctors to the housekeeping staff, is wonderful. All of these are covered by Medicare, otherwise, it would be very expensive. I know looking at her statement from when she was here in June, I think the 10 days cost $62,000, so if she didn't have Medicare, this place would be out of reach for her. They provide intensive rehabilitation services here. For what they do here, it's expensive because it's very high quality. I think for the average person that doesn't have good Medicare and supplement, it would be very difficult to be able to put a family member here. But with Medicare, it makes it a place that is good for my mother. The thing is anything from general rehab to head injuries to spinal injuries, this place has amazing results. If you can get your family member here, you should try and get them placed here from the hospital. "

"I visited my mom at Cambridge Place yesterday. The girl who is part of the administrative staff was very kind and very helpful. My mom has sundowners, so at night, she sometimes thinks that somebody is in her room and that scares her, so we asked for a private room. However, they don't have any private rooms right now. Right now, there's another bed in my mom's room, and she doesn't have a roommate yet, but we wanted her to have a private room, so I don't know if that's going to be possible or not. The building is clean and neat. As for the food, I've seen what they brought in, but Mom says it's not very good. And I haven't seen them do any activities. Their dining area is not much to look at; it looks like a basic cafeteria."

"My wife is already on a nursing home named Diversicare of Nicholasville. It was formerly known as Royal Manor. They got some problems, but since they were purchased by Diversicare, they have a number of improvements that they are going to be making. The facility is old but very clean. They have a couple of places to eat there. They have things like TV, bingo, church services, sing-a-longs, and crafts. It seems to be safe and secure. This facility is close to home. There are a lot of plans to upgrade it. Right now they are still in that process, and things haven't been upgraded just yet. "
