"My mother has been in this facility for about 6 months and I am very pleased with her care. She has improved, and she likes the staff. They have been responsive to my questions or any problems I have brought to them. I would rate them as one of the best in Lexington and I am very happy about her living situation!"

"My mother was transitioned here after a long stay at a hospital to begin rehab. Not being able to visit everyday we really thought was going to hard but we have had the great luxury of being in communication with therapist and nursing from the start. When we speak to her on the phone she is upbeat and tells us everything that she is able to do. The administrator has follow up us on the COVID19 testing. We are all so grateful to the staff that have taken such an investment in keeping my mom safe. f The facility is small however every time anyone visits there are people working on the grounds so which provides comfort in knowing that although we can't go in that work is still being done to make the environment as comfortable as possible. I really can't comment on the Activities because my mother is very limited on what she is able to take part in at this time. "

"My wife moved into Sayre Christian Village Nursing Home. It is a very comfortable place, very clean, and very organized. The staff does an excellent job. Always went well, with no problems. They do bingo. They do painting, coloring pictures, and various activities that older people would be involved in. They have a dining room, or you can eat in your room, whichever, and they have a diet adapted to the requirements of the person. The food that I've tasted is good."

"My mother stayed at Lexington Premier and Rehab for 97 days following a diagnosis of Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus. When she was admitted, she could not walk, she couldn't use her hands, had difficulty talking and many other issues. The therapy team along with the nursing staff showed patience, love and care for her during her stay. I was absolutely amazed at the progress that she made while she was there. She had a complete turn around and was able to walk out of the nursing home with full capabilities to live on her own again. Due to the expertise of the therapy team and the constant care that she was given by the staff, my mother got her life back. They did something that I did not think was possible. If you have a loved one in need of care, I wouldn't hesitate to take them to this facility. I couldn't be happier with them and their services."

"My mom is at Cardinal Hill Home Care. It is a wonderful place. From all their therapies and their nursing staff, they are very attentive to patients. We always have good results when she's been here to move on to her next step. The food is great. My mom loves it. I try it now and then and it's always very good. And they do a very good job of balancing diet for her. If she's hungry in between meals, she can call the kitchen and get anything that she wants. And then they advise her on what will fit in with her dietary needs for cardiac and for her being a diabetic. Everybody that works here, from the nursing staff to the doctors to the housekeeping staff, is wonderful. All of these are covered by Medicare, otherwise, it would be very expensive. I know looking at her statement from when she was here in June, I think the 10 days cost $62,000, so if she didn't have Medicare, this place would be out of reach for her. They provide intensive rehabilitation services here. For what they do here, it's expensive because it's very high quality. I think for the average person that doesn't have good Medicare and supplement, it would be very difficult to be able to put a family member here. But with Medicare, it makes it a place that is good for my mother. The thing is anything from general rehab to head injuries to spinal injuries, this place has amazing results. If you can get your family member here, you should try and get them placed here from the hospital. "

"I highly recommend Tanbark Rehabilitation and will go again, if needed, without reservation. I was at Tanbark Rehab following a shoulder replacement. The staff is wonderful! They helped with everything I needed. I was unable to shower by myself and the assistants that helped me made me comfortable. The nurses were professional and caring. The rehabilitation staff were amazing. The PT and OT staff were knowledgeable and engaging. I looked forward to that part of my day. Everyone I meet from the doctors to housekeeping, front office, administrative staff and dietary staff made me feel comfortable and cared for. My only complaint is their medication system. Their pharmacy is in Louisville. Enough said."

"The Willows At Fritz Farm was very nice. The dining room was laid out like some kind of a nice fancy restaurant. The lights almost looked like chandeliers. The rooms weren't big (I just looked at a single), but it had a nice bed and a nice place to put all your clothes and stuff. They had an activities area, a wet bar, and a bistro. It was more like a country club (that's why it was $10,000 a month). The lady I met at the place and the one who took me around seemed to like working there and were very knowledgeable about everything. She was good at her job. She knew what she was doing and was very friendly. The facility was very, very clean and well-kept."

"The Willows at Hamburg is more of a nursing home. The residents have their own rooms to live in, but they're not apartments. The staff was quite nice, welcoming, and explained things as they showed us around. They have activities in one of the big fellowship rooms. I didn't like that there was a distinct smell of nursing home in the private rooms. They gave me a little welcome cake when I came in."

"My husband moved to Northpoint/lexington Healthcare Center. Me and my kids have been very pleased with the way they've taken care of him, and he is pleased with them, too. The food could be a little tastier from what he says, but that's all. Everything else seems to be excellent. So, I would recommend them at this point but he hasn't been there very long. The staff are all extremely nice."

"The Willows at Citation was a beautiful building. It's in a quiet neighborhood and it does not look like a nursing home inside or outside. I told my friend it was more like a hotel. We have not seen the room where she's going to be, but we have seen similar rooms and one of the girls even sent us pictures, too, to show her. Jaden was very accommodating and answered all of our questions. Last week, she even came to my friend's house and talked with her. If we pass staff in the halls, most of them stop and talk to us. Even the CEO was out and about and he stopped and talked with us. The dining area looks like a restaurant. It's very nice, very clean, and has lots of room. So, that was a plus. I haven't seen all of the facilities, but they have physical therapy, occupational therapy, a beauty shop, and a full-time nurse. It's just top-notch."

"My wife is already on a nursing home named Diversicare of Nicholasville. It was formerly known as Royal Manor. They got some problems, but since they were purchased by Diversicare, they have a number of improvements that they are going to be making. The facility is old but very clean. They have a couple of places to eat there. They have things like TV, bingo, church services, sing-a-longs, and crafts. It seems to be safe and secure. This facility is close to home. There are a lot of plans to upgrade it. Right now they are still in that process, and things haven't been upgraded just yet. "

"We chose Taylor Manor because we knew that it was already a wonderful facility with wonderful people, and it's small, which means that they can give better care to their residents. My mom is in a semi-private room and she's got quite a bit of room. She and her roommate both have their own sides of the room, so they have plenty of space for their own thing. She can have her phone, her TV, all that type of things where she can still have some kind of privacy and her roommate as well. They have a very sweet spirit throughout the place. They all eat together and do activities together. We like the homey atmosphere. They have beautiful gardens where you can go outside and sit, and the family can visit with her too. With the COVID restrictions, everything is still being done on a very cautious basis. We're not allowed inside for now, but we can visit her, outside in a covered area, which is better than where she was, where we couldn't see her at all. The staff is just wonderful and she's happy there."

"Thomson-Hood Veterans Center is incredible. The staff to patient ratio is high. It's a state facility and so the state pay so much per person that's there. It's just fabulous. They have all kinds of activities for the residents and they even have a barbershop. I would highly recommend it to anybody. "

"I have a family member at SHC. I believe they have received excellent care. The staff has always kept me informed about any changes or concerns and I have always felt at ease leaving my loved one in their care. The staff have always been helpful and proactive and are very approachable. Any concerns have been addressed quickly and satisfactorily. The building may at first seem dated but the facility is clean and well kept. The rooms at times feel small but are adequate. There are lots of opportunities for staying engaged and involved with activities and socials. Overall, I am very pleased with SHC."

"My tour of Homeplace at Midway was wonderful. Each different one has its own pod. There are 12 rooms in each pod. They have a central kitchen area, and off of that, they have a sitting area with a fireplace. They have a TV room that is also considered a music room. There is one registered nurse and three CNAs in each pod. The rooms are quite large. They each have their own bathroom. If they want, there's a walk-in tub that they can make use of. The courtyard is enclosed. It is in a beautiful rural setting and there are horses in the background on the farms there in Midway. They have activities every day. Lunch and dinner are fixed, but they can choose whatever they want for breakfast, and they will prepare those. They take them out on the bus for rides and stuff like that. They have an activities director. The staff were wonderful. Sara was the one that took us around, and she was good. She took us on a very good trip. She answered all the questions. We also met the nurses, some of the CNAs, and some of the residents."

"My mom is in Harborview Health Systems Georgetown. It's a nursing home, and it's very attractive when you enter. It's very clean and it seems to be pretty well-staffed at this time, which is unusual. Anything I requested for her has been seen. She's also under hospice care at this time, which they work with closely. So for the last few months, I've been pleased with her care. She's comfortable, clean, and warm. That's important right now because she's 101. She's in a 2-bedroom, there's plenty of room, and it's always clean. There have been mishaps but it's cleaned up by the next evening or day that I'm there. There are windows in each room, which is nice. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They also call me when there's any change, which I appreciate. They work with hospice, I call them, they work well together, and if there's a need, they answer. I've noticed a few things. She had an infection and the nurse at Harborview got online and got her medication once I showed it to her. It's been better so I think they do react fairly quickly when I may have made a request. Her food is nectar water, which is thick, and the food she receives is ground up so it's not good. Some of them are bland like baby food and because of swallowing problems, they put nectar in her drinks. She's gotten used to that. I'm not tasting the food though, their ham is not good at all. The chicken, she seems to tolerate sometimes, but they do add applesauce and puddings, and things that are easy for her to swallow. She likes things sweet, and she does well swallowing them so they always provide something like that on her tray. I think they have to do that for people with that diet. I think they have to be careful. A few times, it's been over-peppered, over seasoned, and burned her mouth. I hate to criticize it because I think they do the best they can with what they have to deal with, grinding her food up. I don't know if they could improve that. From what I've seen, the maintenance and upkeep are very good. They had a group of young children paint pictures on their windows, which was sweet. I think they're from a local school. They have a wonderful beautician. She's so sweet and worked with giving her haircut correctly because she can't get her out of bed. They've worked hard to help me with that because she needed to wash her hair. The hospice does some of it too but Harborview will do anything as well. The majority of their staff is very friendly and helpful. Of course, they do laundry too. They have a shower room that she's gone into, with hospice, to get some type of bathing done. I think they have activities. They've called me because she cannot participate, but they put out a little flier every day with what activities are on. The residents there have bingo and they're able to go outside in some areas. I'm just observing but we haven't done that with my mom. I do see that happening and I do read the flier for the patients that are there listing activities that are going to go on. The menus for lunch and dinner are also posted on this paper that comes out. They have an activity coordinator who called and was interested in trying to find something that she could do, which I appreciate. They contacted me to see if there was anything that she liked. I think there's a chaplain base there too but I'm using the hospice's chaplain for her. I do believe they have ministers there as well that will come from the local churches. Their price is probably a little bit lower than some. The range I noticed was from $7000 to $10000 so we're more on the lower end with it being almost $8000 a month, and that's out of pocket because her Medicare was used up in the hospitals and care units. From what I've seen, and I've also called other places, they're probably a little less expensive than some. They do have one problem sometimes that they need to address. I think it's a problem with getting people to work. The place is locked and the front desk has to let you in. You have to take your temperature too, which is great, but quite often there's no one present at that desk, and you might have to wait quite a while to get in. Or you have to make the alarm go off for them to turn off. That is the one weakness. They run and try to do it, but sometimes the nurses on the floor or the aides have to come and do it too. There is not really anyone that's there in the evening, permanently. They need some night's help, I guess. They probably need someone watching the door and letting people in from, I'd say, 5-9 shifts or somewhere in there. The staff is very pleasant and helpful though. I have not run into anyone sharp or refusing to do anything or are acting like they have a temper. Some are just more pleasant, friendly and comforting. Some are just in a big hurry because they have a lot to do and that's the only difference I see. I've never seen rudeness or anything like that."
