Weatherly Inn is a beautiful facility. We’re looking for the spend-down operation that deals with Medicaid and that facility does not. That’s the only reason we didn’t like it. Not that we didn’t like it, we just scratched it off our list because we need to have that.
It reminded us that we kept using the word resort. It was very high end, very nice. It’s fairly new, very clean, and looked like it was well run, and well-staffed.
I just saw the staff from across the room. I didn’t talk to them other than Grant, who was giving us the tour. The way he explained it, I think everything there is fairly organized and run well. I really think we met with the wrong person. Grant had struggled answering a lot of our questions. I don’t know whether he was new or what, but he had mentioned his boss several times and I think we probably should have met with her.
We really like the facility, if they have the spend-down, we probably would be going there. I think they had a beauty salon

When we toured Table Rock Memory Care Community, we met with the director, Tony. We sat in his office for quite a while discussing all of our questions, going over costs and those kinds of things. Then he walked us around the facility, explained to us how they do their layout, how their staff operates, how each of the people there interact with each other. They’ve got it divided into four separate cottages, but people generally stayed in their own cottage. Overall, we liked the facility. We thought it was probably a little more rundown than some of them we’ve seen just because it was an older one.
In terms of upkeep and maintenance, my wife wasn’t happy with what she saw. She probably sees more than I do in that regard but compared to the other ones that we’ve been to that were less than two years old, this one was a lot older. There were dirty dishes in the sink, but it’s hard to say because there’s a lot of people in there. It’s a pretty big facility. But there’s a lot of moving parts. It’s hard to be clean all the time, and I understand that.
Tony was great. He talked a lot. We had a lot of information and he walked us through everything slowly. We enjoyed the experience; he did a great job.
We saw one room that people were living in, so it was kind of a messy room, understandably. Then we found one that was empty, that was being remodeled. So, there were still patches on the wall and them getting ready to paint and those kinds of things. But overall, they were fine.

Roxy Ann Memory Community is actually the one we preferred. It’s the first one we went to, but they didn’t have any availability. They’re a small facility. We’re on the waiting list there, but we’re probably going to find a facility before they come back to us. They were top of our list, but they’re just not available. It’s a smaller facility, they only have 20 residents and they’re just full right now.
What we liked about it was, it has a very homey feeling, big open kitchen area, big living area where all the residents meet together. They had their own separate bedrooms, obviously. We really liked Madeline who we met with, she’s a very smart gal that runs the place. We really enjoyed our experience when we were there.
The facility is very nice. It’s an older facility, but very well kept. They have a nice outdoor area, and a nice big area for everybody to meet together. They have a nice activities room. I’d say overall, we really liked it.

Mom was in Ashley Manor for three weeks before she passed away. I found them in an Internet search, and I read some reviews about them. I was very pleased with them. It’s like walking into somebody’s home. Everybody has their own individual bedroom, and they are all well-monitored. They had games and stuff going on in the living room. The food smells good and looks good, and the other residents seem to be enjoying it.

We did a tour of Kinsington Oak Grove, and we kept calling it hospital like. It has long hallways and is very sterile. It just reminded us of a hospital. The staff was pretty knowledgeable, very friendly, and helpful. We kind of wrote that off because of the cost of the facility. It was by far the highest of any place we went.
It was very clean, we described it as sterile, but we didn’t necessarily like the layout just because it had long hallways and seemed to be a little bit more separated than we wanted. We saw the dining area, the living room area, and a couple of rooms. They had an outdoor area as well. The room was very clean and nice.

The staff, Theresa, she was very helpful and very knowledgeable. She walked us through everything in the facility that we asked about, answered all our questions, and I followed up with emails with her since we left. So, she was very helpful.
I don’t believe they had a salon. They had a nice outdoor area. It’s a very nice street, a very nice community with very clean, big trees. The facility itself is really nice. They’re set up in separate cottages where it goes up to 20 people in each cottage. They have four cottages; and what they call cottages is they have separate bedrooms with a big living area. So, they have their activities room where they were doing games, puzzles, and watching TV. I think they even had music stuff going on in there as well. It was nice. We’re considering putting my mom in a semi-private, which would be a roommate. What we liked about this facility is there was an island, a divider

For the short time I was there it looked clean, and they were nice.

There is no charge for the meal for those over the age of 60 but donations are appreciated. The Caregiver Support program is funded by the state and run by the Department of Senior and Disability Services. The aim of the program is to provide much-needed support to caregivers to enable seniors to age in place for as long as possible. Specialists assist caregivers in coming up with individual care plans for seniors. Workshops are held on a regular basis that cover a variety of topics, including teaching caregivers to take care of themselves and the basics of looking after a senior friend or relative. The program can provide respite grants to give caregivers a brief period of respite from their caregiving duties. These grants pay for temporary at-home care or alternative living arrangements. There is no charge for these services.
Address: North Mall Office Building, 725 Summer Street NE, Suite B, Salem OR 97301-1266

The Weatherization Assistance Program is funded by the federal government and the state of Oregon. The program aims to reduce the energy costs for low-income households by improving the energy efficiency of the property. Priority is given to those over 60, the disabled and families with children under the age of 19. An energy audit is carried out on the property to see which appropriate energy reduction measures should be taken. Some of the services offered include insulation, minor home repairs, energy conservation education, heating duct improvements and furnace repair or replacement. There is no charge for any of these services.
Determining Your Loved One’s Need for In-Home Care
Aging can be a difficult process, and loved ones may not always ask for help – often times it’s up to their family to evaluate their need for help around the house. While no two situations are exactly alike, this checklist can help you and your loved ones determine when it’s time to start the search for a home care provider.
Guidelines for Talking About In-Home Care
If you’ve determined that your loved one needs the assistance of a care provider in their home, it may be time for a difficult conversation. Handled correctly, however, this process can bring a family together and ensure that everyone’s concerns are addressed. Use this PDF as a starting point to help the conversation stay as positive and productive as possible.
