We had a couple of ladies from my church whom I would go visit here. I also visited it for my friend who needed a place. They were very nice, and we had to think about finances for her. I think, from an overall view, that this was our best choice for her sake. They had everything you'd need. It was very clean, and the people were very nice, but it was a bigger place. My friend who's looking needs a smaller place. The ladies at my church who stayed there started in assisted living, and eventually one went to memory care. We went there to see her many times. So, when another friend was looking for a place, that's the first place we went because we knew of the place already. The staff was very nice and very attentive, they answered all our questions, and they seemed to have a lot of personalities. I was there the few times my friend was eating, and the food looked beautiful. She also loved the food. It was very appealing and looked very nice.

About Spring Arbor of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia
Spring Arbor of Richmond-Henrico, a premier senior living community, is located in the beautiful West End area of Henrico and offers Assisted Living and specialized Memory Care services to individuals living with Alzheimer's or dementia-related conditions. Our beautiful and inviting décor is only surpassed by the warm and compassionate care delivered by our team of senior living professionals. At Spring Arbor of Richmond-Henrico, studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments are featured as well as a variety of services and amenities designed to nurture and support our residents' need for independence, privacy, and safety.
At Spring Arbor Living Richmond, our senior living caregivers are more concerned with the resident than a task list. This doesn't mean that tasks are not important. We believe that the senior living residents in our care deserve the very best. We also believe that growing older doesn't mean you have to sacrifice choices in the aspects of everyday life.
Validation Th is a communication technique that allows memory care caregivers to better relate to our Alzheimer's and memory care residents by connecting with them where they are on life's journey on any given day. For example, if a memory care resident sees themselves as a 35-year-old working professional, then the memory caregiver joins the resident in their reality. This is primarily accomplished by accepting the values and beliefs of the resident without confrontation. Trying to reorient a memory care resident to "facts" often is confusing and unsuccessful for the resident. The caregiver is putting themselves in the shoes of the resident, not simply by trying to move an individual's attention from one thing to another; it is also about validating feelings and emotions.
The Spring Arbor Living of Richmond's "Art from the Heart" program puts a paintbrush in the hands of residents who have Alzheimer's or other memory impairment. The results are amazing. Our Alzheimer's care residents who have struggled with even the most modest tasks of everyday living have astounded all of us with their creative spirits and wonderful creations.

It was neat and clean. The staff was all extremely nice. I didn't get to see any activities, but I was told and showed the activity calendar and the menus. They have so many different things they can choose from. The room was really nice. You could set it up to make it feel more like a home for your loved one. There was a new staff member with housekeeping coming on and she stopped and Mat, who was showing me around, introduced me to her and she said she was glad to meet me and she hoped that we would choose there for Mom. They were really friendly and really trying to make you feel like you were choosing the right place. They had a little courtyard and a beauty salon. They were telling me and showing me so many things, making sure I know everything and what they could help with.

Out of all of them that I visited, this one would probably get my attention more so than the others. I would give that one the highest rating. My interaction with the staff was very positive. They were very helpful. I like the fact that they were calling the residents by name, which told me that they knew the residents and there must have been some kind of interaction for them to know and be able to call them by name. The room was clean. It had a refrigerator and a microwave. I like the fact that they had a door in the closet, though it wasn't a big closet. I like the fact that it has a window so you can see outside. I liked the layout of it. Also, the room was not too far from the dining room, so if my mom was down the hall, she could come up to the dining room for her meals. I liked that because some of the others were kind of far and you had to maneuver to get to the dining room. The dining room was more like a restaurant. The grounds were very nice. I didn't have any parking problems. Nothing stood out for me to have a concern. I was trying to get my mom there, but the doctor recommended that she get stronger, so I decided to hold off on that.

I had a physical tour; the experience was good. They gave me information on the rooms, the meals, the medications provided for the residents there, the cost, and the entertainment for the residents. They gave me pretty much everything. The room was spacious. The dining room looked like a restaurant. It wasn't like a high-scale restaurant. It had nice tables with tablecloths. The tables were separated far apart from each other. It was clean and nice. It wasn't like a cafeteria.
