"My mom is in Beth Sholom. We chose it because they are caring. They care for the elderly. They are compassionate for these people. They treat my mom better than the other place she has stayed. They have all kinds of activities. They are involved in everything. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They have snack bars for them. Everybody is friendly. They take them out all the time. They take them to the bank, the post office, or wherever they want to go. They will take my mother to her doctor's appointments. They have a rec room where they do their activities. The luncheon there is great. It is just a wonderful place. "

"Envoy of Westover Hills is satisfactory in all areas. The place is homey and clean. The people seemed content. The staff is helpful. There was a salon and rehab room. They have the ability to get them to daycare for activities if they want to."

"My father is now in August Healthcare at Richmond. It's been excellent. The facilities are very good. The facility is a little bit dated. They're just about to start a massive renovation, but the plans looked good. They've got excellent staff. They get to know the person that's in there, and the nursing staff is quite good. He is receiving excellent care, and he loves the food. I have not tried the food, but he raves about it. The common areas are nice. When I was there, they were more on lockdown because of COVID. They've since opened back up, so they have lots of games and activities and they have little road trips. They've been terrific. I've had to coordinate with them for him to go out to wound care, and they've been very receptive to him having a different schedule, and the physical therapy there is excellent. They have private rooms. In my dad's case, you share a bathroom with one person, so that's pretty unusual. He's got Medicare, so I would say it's excellent value. "

"Sitter and Barfoot has been a lifesaver for my Father. He has lived in several assisted living facilities over the years, and all of them were extremely expensive and did not take care of his needs. For example, he fell out of bed and was on the floor for hours before anyone came to help him! Now, with living at Sitter, and being a Disabled Vet at 100%, it is 100% free for him and the head nurses and Management team are very courteous and always reply to my emails and/or calls. My family is very lucky to have placed him with Sitter & Barfoot. I wish there were more facilities like Barfoot, who could take care of our Veterans, who have sacrificed their lives for this wonderful country!"

"My sister-in-law is at Lucy Corr. They have physical therapy on-site. In the area that she is in now, it is a double bedroom but spacious enough that everyone has their own privacy. They have a day room for any activities and a dining room where the residents go to eat. They have a social worker that conducts a plan of care, which I'm involved with every two or three months when they have the plan of care meeting. The place is very clean and well-kept. The floors are shiny. Food is prepared well. I would certainly recommend Lucy Corr to anyone who has a loved one that needs either short-term or long-term care. Each unit has licensed nurses and certified nurse assistants that take care of the patients for personal care, bathing, and so on. Their laundry gets done once a week. They escort them to the dining room, so they can have their meals. Most of the time they're having activities in the dayroom. With regards to value for money, I think they are providing good service."

Each member of our care team is committed to service with dignity, dedication, and compassion for the 130 residents who live here. Ours is a private, non-profit organization licensed by the Commonwealth. Any Virginian over 18 years of age who is diagnosed with an irreversible physical disability and qualifies for nursing home care under the laws of Medicaid may seek admission to The Virginia Home. But this is more than a nursing home — much more. One-half of the residents here are under age 50, and the staff-to-resident ratio is 1.8 to 1. The Virginia Home provides a broad range of restorative services, round-the-clock nursing care, personalized dietary and nutritional services, and individualized case management. This is a home — a real home — with residents who work, go to school, and volunteer in the community. We attend religious services at The Home and in the community. We raise money for disaster relief and humanitarian efforts. We play bridge, attend concerts, listen to lectures from civic leaders, and bask in the beauty of Byrd Park. On Tuesdays The Virginia Home ‘Wolverines’ play hockey. On Thursdays the women get their nails done. On Fridays we head to Movie Night. "The administrator is dynamic and involved. The environment is very clean and fresh. There is lots of activity and bustling energy. The rooms are a bit small compared to other facilities, but this one would be one of the top 2 of the 5 we've visited this weekend, with The Laurels being number 1. "

"If you’re looking to admit someone here please take your time to visit & take a tour. The staff is super friendly & honest, bathrooms are clean, & the place doesn’t smell of feces. During my tour they had a guy playing piano & singing for the residents & I believe that was just one of many things they do for these people here. Franky was my tour guide she was super quick & efficient. Amani at the front desk was very helpful with getting me the assistance I needed as well, very pretty lady. My experience was definitely great."

"My sister has lived at this facility for 0ver 5 years, the entire place is clean and staff are very hospitable, I've visited several times unexpectant, and it was always the same. Exceptional individuals that I've had contact with were Claire in Residents support, and Francis, head of Nursing. I live in Florida so to trust someone 1000 miles away with the wellbeing of a family member speaks volumes. The rooms are large, the dining hall and food served gives a time for communication and nutrition which is so important. They also provide services outside of the facility like Walmart runs and they manage the transportation of all doctors including dentist visits. There is also a nice courtyard for the smokers to meet and visit with each other. I feel comfortable with the safety and security of the building there. Finally, if my sister has to be in an assisted care environment, this is the place I feel comfortable with."

"My Mom spent her final six months here loved and cared for by the wonderful, attentive, and sincerely caring staff. Every member of the team shared timely, positive, kind, focused, encouraging and caring services. The food was excellent. And she was blessed with the best roommate on the planet. She told us often that she felt loved there, so vital when eyesight and strength are failing. Everyone we met immediately welcomed us and made us feel at home there. We will always be very, very thankful and appreciative."

"I was in need of long term nursing care for my mom in March of 2017. I happened to find an article about Our Lady of Hope and it was a done deal. My initial impression of the facility and staff has only grown since my mom became a resident. The staff is outstanding, the care is better than any other facility we were involved with and there were 3. I fully believe my mom is alive today because of the care she has received at OLOH. I would HIGHLY recommend OLOH to anyone that wants to insure their loved one is totally cared for and wants peace of mind in the process. "

"I'm currently at Rosedale Health & Rehabilitation. The upkeep is perfect. The staff is wonderful and very helpful. They offer bingo and card playing. They have a room where we can watch television. They have ice cream socials, too. I haven't been to the dining area because I'm only served in my room. They could bring the food into the dayroom, too, where the TV is. It's wonderful. I have no complaints about it. My food is nice and hot, too."

"I went to Hermitage Richmond, but it was not for my brother. It was a very fine facility, but the people there were very frail, and he's very physically fit. It was extremely well-maintained and beautiful. The people seemed happy. They were old and frail, but they were walking. Half of them were walking with walkers and the ones who were in wheelchairs were well-dressed. They were looking forward to dinner and they looked like they were going out to a banquet. They were happy and they seemed to have everything the people needed. It looked as though everybody's needs were accommodated. In particular, one lady just loves ironing, and I saw her ironing her sheets and clothes and she was happy with it. They take care of everybody's linen and personal clothing because they have a laundry room, but they seem to accom,odate people, whatever their needs might be. It was an extraordinary place for a large number of people with a variety of needs. It was very expensive, but it has high-end clientele. It's definitely for people who have the means. It's expensive for the average person, but they do offer quality services. I didn't eat there, but I could smell the tasty food, and it smelled really good. Everybody was happy."
