"My mom was a resident of New Haven Assisted Living and Memory Care. There's nothing that we disliked. We liked it immensely. It felt like home. My mom loved it even though she wasn't there very long. She thrived with what little bit that she had while she was there. It was a good place. The staff was wonderful. They were nice and considerate. They were amazing. The upkeep was nice. We didn't try the food, but it smelled really good. My mom pretty much had stopped eating, but they made her broth and stuff like that, and what little bit she could take down. She didn't complain or anything. We saw all the other people eating. We wanted to join in on some of it. It smelled amazing. They had a nice living space where they could sit and watch TV, and a dining area. They had where they could do puzzles and stuff like that. They had a wonderful area where they could just sit and read and look out in the backyard and stuff. It was just really nice."

"I visited Graceland at Garden Ridge. The people who live there were happy, warm, and friendly with the staff. They had eight rooms for memory care and 37 for assisted living. The thing I liked was that even in the smallest rooms, they had a beautiful bay window overlooking the trees and the animals and the birds. They had large, airy rooms, a quiet air-conditioner, and three bay windows overlooking the woods. The people were very warm to the staff, which if staff was not nice to the people, that wouldn't happen."

"I picked The Legacy at Forrest Ridge for my mom because they had more actual apartments. Like the one that we are getting actually has three rooms because it has a little kitchen area where it has just the refrigerator and counters and counter doors, it has a room that you can make into a bedroom, and then it has a separate room for a living room area. So I wanted her to have more like an apartment and not necessarily an assisted living place. "

"I didn't have very much I disliked about Brookdale San Marcos South, if anything at all. There was a lot I liked. What I liked the most was the director, Todd. His energy felt very genuine. He had been through this before personally, and he was kind of taking it on to try and make this a better process for other people. He was very welcoming, and I just knew he would take good care of my father. The staff that wasn't expecting to see us as we walked around were very warm and welcoming. The food was nutritious but not especially seasoned. Cleanliness was good, and the structure was nice. It's a little bit of an older building, but it's still well-kept. The rooms were nice and good-sized. We chose one of the smaller ones because my dad's not exactly a big guy, and he's pretty minimalistic, but there were other options for bigger-sized rooms, and they seemed to be pretty nice."

"I know Brookdale San Marcos North. I'm a retired choreographer, and I have a dance group that I take to all the senior homes in this area in San Marcos, and I've always admired Brookdale San Marcos North as one of the nicer ones that I thought would be a good fit for Mom if it ever came to that, and it's very close to my house. The place has always been beautiful and kind of elegant. They've remodeled it, and now it's airy and clean. They have a restaurant on the second floor where residents order off the menu. The first floor is mostly for activities. They have their own hair salon and a nice activity director whom I've worked with for a while now, and I just think the world of her. The people who work there are fantastic. They have been just more than helpful. They've bent over backwards to meet my needs and Mom's needs (she will be moving there next week), and we're happy with the way that it's all worked out. She had a little fall and ended up in rehab. So, they've arranged that (I didn't even know you could do this), so she could go straight there from the rehab. I felt like I was on a cruise ship when I was there. The people were happy, well-dressed, talkative, and had high expectations for their time there. That's really satisfying. I think they'll be a good fit for Mom. They seemed like the kind of people that she would get along with. I have only tried their snacks, but I've looked at the menus and that looks great. Also, I've heard from others who live there that the food is wonderful."

"My mother‘s journey ended last night It has been such a blessing to have my mom at Seasons Memory Care on Nacodoches Road. I have nothing but the highest praise for everything from the level of care to the compassion my mom received from the entire team. There are no words powerful enough to thank you for this experience. Tamika, Lisa, Nicole Hospice, Leona Hospice, Lenora Activities, Arlene Director, Mari, and so many others have been an incredible comfort and support to me throughout this difficult journey. My mom never lost her smile, and I believe it was because she was with people who truly cared about her. I know I am leaving out so many, from social workers to hospice workers, who I have not mentioned, but every single one played a valuable part in my mom’s care. Thank you."

"We were not very impressed with Victory Home. They didn't seem very organized nor had a good meal plan. They just loaded everyone up to go to adult day care. The house was not as kept up as we would've liked. They had a living room, but that was it. The staff seemed OK. They didn't have a menu for a week, so we didn't know what kind of food to expect. The facility seemed a bit rundown, and the flooring was all torn up. It didn't look like they were in the middle of replacing it. It looked like they just tore up the carpet and the tile."

"I chose Brookdale Nacogdoches for my friend because it's strictly for memory-impaired residents. It's a small community and I found the staff to be very friendly and accommodating. I felt it was the right place for her. They play games in the morning, do exercise programs, and have a varied activity schedule. There's always something for the residents to participate in. Their staff is excellent. Everyone I've dealt with has been very helpful. I've seen how they interact with the other residents and they're wonderful. The place is very clean. I think it's well worth the price."

"My husband is in Sodalis at San Marcos and it is a very nice, clean place. The staff is very good and they have different activities every day like exercise, playing cards, dominoes, and prayer meetings. The dining area is very clean and good."

"I've visited Emerald Oaks in San Antonio a couple of times, and they are number one on my list. They're clean and orderly. They are courteous, and the people who are living there seem to be very well-pleased. The buildings are also in very good condition. The staff members I was in touch with were very good. They have a library, outdoor spaces, a movie theater, and an exercise facility. They also have a doctor who is there two days a week."

"I moved into Sodalis Windcrest at San Antonio. It's close to my daughter's house, so that makes it convenient. I had seen this facility, and I liked it. I like the people here and the way they treat you. There's a lot of privacy if you want, but if you don't, you can go into the activity room or to the cafeteria. They're the same thing; that's where you go to eat if you don't want to eat in your room. I always go to the activity room and eat with somebody else. The staff is always there. It doesn't take long to get them if you need them. They don't bother you if you don't want to be bothered, but they're there. You can call them anytime. They're also close to the way it's arranged. My room is close to the main office, which is convenient. I enjoyed their food. It's well-balanced. It's not too much, and if you want more, you can have it, but they are always quite a bit on the plate. Everything's good here. When you don't feel good, they bring it to your room. It's very clean. They keep the room very nice. There is no dust anywhere. I can tell when they've been in the bathroom. You can smell the freshness in there. It has a walk-in shower, a lavatory, and a toilet. It's a small bedroom with a sink, and the kitchen has a little refrigerator. There's not too much storage space, but I don't need it since my meals are all here, and I have chest drawers. They always have something if you want to. You don't have to attend, but there's always something going on, like games and exercise. They have trips two times a week. They have trips to take you to the Dollar store, and there's a Walmart close by. Another reason why I chose it is because it is a good price and since they do everything for you, including the laundry, you don't have to do that, which makes it nice. They're very well equipped here."

"I toured Sodalis at Stone Oak. They showed me the memory care. The apartments were small. The tour was good. The staff was very caring. Everybody knew everyone's name and greeted everyone kindly. It was very clean. We did go outside. It was nice out there and they had tables and chairs."

"I am very pleased with the care and respect my mother received at the facility. The staff call me to keep me informed of changes. My mother loves the Lord and staff will have Bible study daily with her to keep her spirits lifted. Staff are always smiling and loving. I really trust my mom is in the best place. When she moved in they assessed per prescriptions and found many of these could be eliminated. Previous facility over medicated. They pay attention if she does not want to eat to offer a substitute or assess if she feels ill. I am so pleased. My brother and I joined mom for lunch one Saturday to celebrate her birthday and the food was great. The food was served on china. I have observed this as well on days I visit and walk with her to the dining area, s as Jesus good food in nice table setting. This makes for a happy place to eat. "

"I toured Alexis Pointe of Wimberley Senior Living. I liked that it's in a small town, and it felt very warm. The staff seemed to know all of the folks. They were very open talking to me, and I like the three levels of care in one facility. I only saw one room. They were fairly full. They had one that had just come available, but it had not been cleaned out yet so, I didn't get a real sense of it. It was adequate. Knowledgeable and kind staff. I talked to the intake person. And then I talked to the person that had responsibility for memory care. And they were all very professional. I saw some activities in the memory care wing, and they had an activity director talking to a couple of women."
