I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Both of my parents towards the end of their lives had to go to nursing homes. They went to two different homes in Columbia. I have to say, the nursing home environment itself is not a very uplifting environment and the level of stress on all involved is at a high. I currently have a family member at Heartland on Forest and she has been there for many years now. In my opinion, I feel they do the best job of taking care of the patients. I have read some of the other reviews which is why I decide to leave one and I do not feel they have been fair in there assessment. It is easy to come into an environment for a short time and make a quick harsh judgement but I am sure they did not take into consideration how difficult it can be to work in this environment on a day to day basis and the pay is definitely not on the higher end of the scale. It is hard work and definitely and thankless job.

I have a relative who has been living in the long term care at Heartland for 6 to 7 years now. She loves living there and the staff have been very good to her. Working in the nursing home environment takes compassionate people and it has to be very grueling on the staff. I had other family members who have be in other nursing homes so I have been to several in Columbia and I can say with certainty I feel they do the best job! It is a thankless job and I am so happy that we have them as our option for care. Thank you for all you do for my family.

Heartland and it’s staff has been my sister’s second family. She has lived in the Forest Drive location for the past six years. The Heartland staff has always been friendly and attentive to my sister. She loves living at Heartland.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

For the past six years, the Heartland family has been taking great care of my aunt. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I’d like to especially thank the Heartland family for making me and my family feel more at ease during the pandemic. I’d recommend Heartland on Forest Drive to anyone.

This was my first experience with a nursing facility. We place my mom there for Rehab care only! She needed to rebuild her strength her legs were weak .... The food was gross, and there was never a nurse or an assistant around to care for my mother… the staff never knew what was going on when you did speak with someone... I found my Mother in soiled clothing and bedding, I would have to find someone to clean her up... The worse. Needless to say my mom loss 14lbs in less than 3wks her health deteriorated fast and she passed away (unexplainable) we are still trying to figure out what happened.... I was there if not every day/every other day this was the worst place ever.... Please do not send your family here they need to be shut down... After she passed they sent me a reminder letter to apply for her Medicaid... I couldn't believe it... they didn't realize she had died and this was months after her passing!!!!!!!!!!!! STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is this worst place to leave your family member in. They are only in for the money. They give you wrong info about Medicare rules so that they keep your love one. They tell you that Medicare benefits will not cover your love one ,so that you fill out and get Medicaid. benefits. They do not care about anything but the money, even when your love one needs medical care. My loved one almost died under their care.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My father was at this facility for 2 months. They treated my father like he was a nuisance. Tried to give him a sleep aid or pain med to keep him asleep. Very rude overnight staff that was understaffed. Some people were nice but some were lazy and downright rude. Never answered the phone. Physical therapy staff was great. It was the CNAs that were unsatisfactory.

My dad was happy at Heartland. It was neat and clean, and they were so nice and kind. They would call and take phone calls. He was there for physical therapy. I would recommend this place.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My family member is currently there to have therapy, however meals are terrible "It's not Burger king" this comment from therapist. Call light rings for hours. No one ever available at nurses station, Lose clothing. Regular bathing not done. Hair hasn't been washed since admission(weeks) even after asking multiple times for them to wash it. Trash not taken out regularly finally had to start piling it up in bathroom. Don't change linens. Just turn it over so you can't see it. Communication poor between staff members. Rude when you try to talk with them. Hard to get assistance from chair back to bed. Some nights have to sleep in chair. Don't see staff unless its mealtime to bring tray in room or medication time. Not checked on regularly. My family member will be discharged VERY soon due to poor care he is getting at this nursing center.

I visited this facility

It smelled REALLY good when I went to visit. I noticed that Heartland didnt have a suggestion box/quality indicator survey in sight. Normally when I visit a nursing home they atleast have this option for visitors to share their opinion. However, they do have a full sprinkler system, they house 132 residents but only has 122 of the beds filled which is more than 90% full. Thats a great thing.
