Colonial Gardens Memory Care had people there 24/7. The problem was the smell. It was too expensive for the smell. They have a beautician, movie nights for the residents, nurses on-site, and a doctor on-site. The person who gave the tour was very sweet and very attentive. The dining area was pretty plain, but they had food for the residents and those who had dietary needs. The residents smelled, and that kind of signaled that they don't really take care of them like they should.

I toured Colonial Gardens Memory Care. It was a memory care facility. It was more interactive, but not a good fit for my mother. Many people didn't seem to be in the category where my mom was. My mom's not at that point yet. I like the place. As far as the activities, everybody was very active. I did not like the Colonial Garden rooming setup, but where my mom is now for an apartment is like what she's familiar with. The staff would have a ten. I liked her. I like how she gave the tour and interacted with everybody there. I was very impressed by it. The first thing I noticed was that the facility smelled clean. It didn't smell like a memory care home, and people were always cleaning.

The rooms are very nice - the staff is outstanding - they are observant and know when a resident needs a little extra attention, whether it’s just to talk to them or walk with them. Family and friends can visit at any time. The residents have freedom to interact with staff and other residents. There are activities every day - just recently they had outings to the Zoo and the State Fair. They have a beautiful courtyard where the residents can go to enjoy fresh air. The menu is varied and my loved one enjoys the food. I would highly recommend Colonial Gardens as a good choice for anyone looking for memory care for their loved one.
