Memory Care Communities in Aiken, SC

"Aiken Memory Care seems good so far. Just anywhere you go, there's going to be some issues. It's just that they have to end up learning about the person, and then once they do that, it seems a lot easier. The staff is good. They seem to be helpful. They have arts and crafts, they do a lot of music stuff, and their food is pretty good. The dining room is fair. It needs a little bit of updating. I think they're about to replace the carpet in the hallways. It's a little worn. It's been there since the place was built. Besides that, everything's nice and clean. I visited several other ones, and what made me choose that one over the other one is that it was closer to my home."

"Silver Bluff Grove Senior Living was nice. The price is decent for it being an older building. The people were very friendly. It's very clean. They'll say they have a one-bedroom, but it's two apartments kind of put together. They have a living room and a bedroom, but you have two bathrooms because they didn't take them out. They pretty much just connected two rooms. Then they have a studio that's just a one-bedroom, and they don't have a kitchen. You can put a refrigerator and a microwave in there if you want to, but it doesn't have all that. They have a courtyard there."

"Benton House of Augusta was beautiful and really nice. They had so much marble in there, and it's more gorgeous than most people's homes. They had a formal dining room with tablecloths. It was top of the line. The staff and administrator were wonderful and excellent."

"My husband and I toured Brandon Wilde. It's a lovely and wonderful place. I can't imagine anyone not liking the place. I would say it's luxurious. It's certainly high-end and has everything you could think of facility-wise. We didn't interact a lot with the staff there but the people we encountered were friendly. The decor of the whole place is very lovely and very well done. We have not chosen it simply because we decided we did not want to invest front end in a continuing care facility and that's what Brandon Wilde offers. We made an appointment and we had lunch there. They had a whole program set up. They had a whole group of people like us, and we were welcomed in. We had a lovely, elegant lunch and there was a stage in the room. They had residents there on the stage sitting, and after we finished eating, they kind of gave testimonials. We saw independent living because that's what we were interested in. It was beautiful. This place is great and it's not cheap. The presentation of the food was elegant, and the food itself was delicious. The facilities are high-end and top-of-the-line. Their swimming pool was just beautiful. They have a separate library, too. And their workout area, their gym, was up to date, new, and modern; everything is that way."

"My friend is staying at Madison Heights Evans. They have their own rooms and their own bathroom. They only have 10 or 12 people in each building. I'll give it pretty high ratings. I have been happy with them,so far, except for a couple of things. There are people who should not be working there because it is so draining. You'll have some good nurses and some are bad. It's very clean. They clean the place all the time. It doesn't have a smell or anything. They try to keep them busy. They have been very good about doing things and bringing people in. They did go up on their price, but I still think they're pretty reasonably priced for what they do."

"Benton House of Aiken was very nice. The facilities were excellent. The staff anticipated my questions but also answered all the questions that I had. They took their time to understand my situation and give me advice. They showed me all three types of rooms. They didn't have occupancy on some of them, but they arranged with the occupants to allow me to come in and visit with them and see their rooms. They were very clean and very modern. The bathrooms were accessible to the bedrooms, which is especially great for somebody in assisted living right there. They had different sizes, which make a big difference for different people, too. I think they had a variety, they're all very clean and certainly square footage was a little bit different, which gave you a choice, and so it was very good. I can't say anything negative about its appearance. It seemed like a senior assisted living home rather than a place where old people were taken care of."
