Harborview Rehabilitation and Care Center at Lansdale LLC (formerly Golden LivingCenter Lansdale) was very nice. It's in town, and there are lots of restaurants around, the train station is there, and it's wheelchair accessible. My brother will move into long-term care. The person who accommodated me was very nice, answered the questions, and gave me plenty of time. They were having a handbag activity for the ladies when I was there, bingo, take them to church, and take some of the men to see college baseball games in the area. The layout of the facility was good.

I moved out of Golden LivingCenter Lansdale, but I came back because I tore up my knee. It's not the best. The housekeeping didn't come around and clean that much, and the certified nursing assistants ignore call bells. Sometimes I have to wait two or three hours until they respond to a call bell. The food is good and tasty. It's a little inadequate, but they meals are nutritious. The dining area could use some cleaning every once in a while. Housekeeping doesn't keep the dining area clean. The activities are good. We play games like Bingo and puzzles, and we do exercises. The staff members are very caring and very good, but some don't care. The rehabilitation staff is very good, I would give them a five.

While Golden Living is not a 5-star, that is mostly because the facility could use some cosmetic fixes (paint, etc.). That being said, I would love to praise the staff for the care they take with my grandmother. From the nurses to the aides who bring her food, physical therapists to art therapist, they are a warm and friendly bunch of people. They try their best to cheer my grandmother when she needs it, they are responsive to her health issues, and keep in close contact with the family. The driver who takes her to her appointments makes my grandmother feel like she's the most important person he will see that day. I think the cosmetic issues are purely financial, since this is a medicare/medicaid facility - they do the best they can with what they've got, and I think what they have goes to the patients.

Having visited this facily several times, I always left with a good feeling. This is a smaller facility offering a comfortable, welcoming feeling. My interfacing with many levels of the staff, from the receptionist who is quick to respond upon entry, to the Director/Administrator who made it clear his heart is invested in the work he does. This was noted on a personal level as we sat down to meet, and a worker came in and said a family member came in an really needed him...he proptly excused himself and greeted the upset woman with warmth. On a close to holiday visit last year I was impressed how the aides and the nursing staff were trying to go the extra steps to bring a festive feel to the residents. One of the ladies I had gone to see told me she was always treated with respect and kindness.I noticed a gent and a lady in one room which seemed homey.....I later found out they had been married more years than I have lived....and the staff and family have figured how to encorporated enough of their personal belongings (even a little extra furniture) to make them feel that this really was now their home!Nursing homes are usually not the place you really expect to feel ultra positive after a visit...but I would say Golden Living offers a clean, warm environment with a friendly caring staff.
