So far Avondale has been very good, including the staff. Recently they doubled the size of their campus and I was lucky to get in just when they were opening it up. Someone else had the apartment my brother was in and then at the last minute cancelled. They called me and said they had a place for us. It's based on income, and my brother's income was quite low, but it worked for us. It's a brand-new roof over our heads, and even though it doesn’t have the bells and whistles of the other places, it's still nice. The staff has so far been wonderful, Kim in particular, the staff member that got me in here. She's one of those permanent staff members and she's just really great with the residents there. She's a bulldog when it comes to getting things like Medicaid information to the people who need it and things like that. She really worked for the people there and I'm very pleased. They have a brand-new exercise room, on-site laundry facilities, and devotionals twice a week. The Hilliard Rec center actually comes there and does activities. They also have bus services that take them on trips or to the grocery story. They don't provide the residents meals; they have to do their own cooking.

Avondale was nice. The guy who assisted me was extremely sweet and the apartments were beautiful, spacious and brand new. They had a walk-in shower so mom wouldn't have to get into the bath tub. Everything was built for accessibility for disable which is very nice because my mom sometimes need to be in a wheelchair. It had an extremely nice neighborhood. But it was independent living and I guess the state held that she wasn't capable of living on her own. I was very satisfied with the tour and would recommend this to others. If they'd only had assisting living there, I would have told my mom to go there.

It was very nice at Avondale and it looked like a place that I'd want to live in. I am on their waiting list for now. When we went there on an appointment, a guy greeted us and showed us around the place. He was just nice and friendly. Most of the residents have things to do like going on hikes and taking up dancing. The facility had little cottage therein. It also had exercise equipment which I would really like to use. Their rooms were spacious. I would recommend this facility.
