"We went to Baptist Health Care Center. The people were friendly. I thought they were straightforward, and I had no issues with the staff in terms of how they treated us. When you walk down the hall, you can see the interactions with the residents, and that felt really positive. However, the amenities weren't quite the same as a newer refurbished facility. "

"My Dad spent the last 4 years of his life here. He dad Parkinson's disease so it was impossible for me to care for him at home. There was a group of 6 residents who shared lunch and dinner in the common area on their floor. They were very close knit. The staff loved my Dad. In fact, several of them came to the memorial service we had for him in the chapel at Shannondale. I could not have been more pleased with Shannondale! "

"The residents at Samaritan Place receie the highest level of care of any place I have visited. The staff is definitely a team. Social Services and Activities are superior. This is the only Senior care facility with an Executive Chef and Sous Chef. The Chef was trained at Culinary Institute of America and received additional training in Paris. Meals are prepared at Samaritan place and transported to all other Catholic Chairity facility in Knoxville. "

"We visited Shannondale. The rooms and common areas were very nice, but it appeared a little sterile for my mom. They only have private rooms. The staff was condescending and downplayed interest in mother coming to their facility."

"I like Brakebill Nursing Home specifically because of how they take care of the safety of the residents. There's enough staff to ensure that each resident stays safe. There are residents that like to walk and you can find staff members, not necessarily standing next to them, but definitely in their vicinity, making sure that they're OK. The residents that were prone to falls were in chairs, so they could still move around. They encourage you to be social. The food is good. They have excellent nurses and the staff is attentive, skilled, and aggressive to the clients. They're very skilled in knowing how to deescalate things. I love the staff there. Everybody's smiling. The residents seem to be at peace and happy. My father's room was OK, and he knew how to quickly find the restroom even with Alzheimer's. I also like the physical therapy there."

"After a long hospitalization, my husband was brought here for short term skilled nursing and rehab. Due to insurance, he was only there for 2 1/2 weeks. I was very pleased with the level of care he received. Starting with the nursing care, wound nurse care, CNA’s, OT, PT, Doctor, Social WorkerBusiness Office and even the receptionist and activities director. If my husband needed assistance again, I would have him return to this facility. His room was nice. Thank you to all the staff who assisted us during his stay."

"The physical therapy staff at Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Center is excellent, very patient, and work with individuals to try to maximize their ability to do functional movements. It is in a hospital, and Dad is in a private room. There is a movie theater, a community room, a physical therapy room, and an occupational therapy room with exercise equipment. "

"My mother is in NHC Fort Sanders. She's been there for a while, but she'll be transitioning to long-term care. What I like best is it's close to Fort Sanders Hospital, and I like the level of care that they provide. I'm there most days to visit and while I'm there, I see how they care for the patients. I'm very impressed with their therapy and their equipment. They have several workout rooms there at the facility for the people. They have a full line of care there. The second and third floor is for the long term. They have a lot of opportunities there for different levels needed for different patients, though sometimes, they can't get to everyone at the same time to clean. They have an outdoor facility. They have activities like a center for the patients."

"My mother-in-law is in NHC and it's wonderful. It is very clean and it has a very good odor. My mother-in-law is in a wheelchair and can't do any activities, but they had a lot of activities there. There is a good ratio between the nurses and the patients and they really care about the patients. They take very good care of my mother-in-law. It is a very nice nursing home. "

"Renaissance Terrace is a small facility with only 15 rooms, and it’s only 5 or 6 years old. My sister is in there. It’s a really nice facility, they have good food, and it is well-staffed. Some of the staff have been there since they started 6 years ago. They go to movies, they have all kinds of activities like bingo, they go to the mall, and they take them out. I am really pleased with the facility. "

"In reviewing a medical facility, healthcare provider or any other entity or person providing critical services to a loved one, the bottom line for our family is (1) the quality of the care received, and (2) the effort (both in terms of providing quality care and initiating meaningful communications about the loved one's care and needs) expended on our loved one's behalf. On these most important issues, Life Care Center of Blount County is as good or better than any nursing facility we have engaged with. Period."

"Every time we came in, people were polite to us and helped us out. They were great, but the first thing that hit you when you came in the door was the smell! It is indescribable. It smelled like green beans, a little like a squeaky disinfectant smell, and urine and feces. People seemed taken care of alright, although I do remember one instance where an old man in a wheelchair, seemingly unattended, kept trying to talk to me from the hallway. He seemed very senile and very much out of it. I was waiting for someone to come by and help him back to his room, but no one did. In general, I do find these homes slightly depressing - this one just didn't stand out to me as being any better. Yes, the home took care of the people's needs for food, water, cleanliness, and comfort in general and kept those up to standards, but again, it was not very happy feely there. "
